The cottage

The Garden Wing is a first floor but separate apartment attached to the owner’s Georgian country house, with separate entrance, in the picturesque Derbyshire village of Mappleton.

This charming period property comes as an ideal stay for friends and couples wanting to explore the beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park, with its many stately homes such as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey, and local places of interest such as the children’s museum at Sudbury Hall, Alton Towers ( 15 mins), World Heritage Site of the Derwent Valley with the Cotton mills at Cromford etc.

and the Pottery museums in Stoke.

Step into your temporary home after hiking through the Dales, take off your muddy coats and boots in the ground floor utility/laundry/drying room. Take the stairs and arrive in the charming first floor with traditional wallpaper, views over the gardens and valley, and French windows onto your terrace and the paddocks.

Mappleton is a lovely red brick built village offering a thriving village pub, whilst further amenities are available in the nearby villages of Ilam, Tissington, Longnor and Hartington. The market town of Ashbourne is only 1.5 miles away and boasts fine Georgian buildings, a good selection of restaurants, wine bars and interesting antique shops. This fabulous area has great outdoor pursuits, including walks in Dovedale, Thorpe Cloud, which is an imposing 1000ft limestone hill and the famous Tissington Trail, plus within driving distance are Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Alton Towers.
