  • “Very nice flat and very well equipped.”

Also really good location for exploring Buxton and the surrounding area. Our only complaint was that the mattress needs replacing as you could feel the inner framework which made it really uncomfortable.

The property

Belvedere is a beautifully-presented and spacious first-floor apartment, located in the heart of the Peak District, just a short walk from the centre Buxton.

This Roman spa town is bursting with interesting attractions, beautiful architecture, and lies within easy reach of the incredible Peak District landscape, making this Derbyshire apartment a perfect pick for a romantic escape.

Find your way up to the apartment front door by entering the communal door and up a set of stairs, then be welcomed into this stylish abode.

A good deal of restaurants and eateries await you in Buxton, but when you want to rustle up something home-cooked, enjoy cooking in the galley kitchen, with a sleek grey and black colour scheme and all the appliances you need.

Enter the living room/diner and be charmed by the open fire set in the original fireplace, with a Smart TV to entertain and a plush sofa to sink into, you can truly relax in here amongst the calm, muted tones of the decor.

A washing machine can be found tucked in the hallway as you head to the bathroom, a handy feature, with the bathroom being spacious and contemporary, home to a shower over bath.

When you're ready to hit the hay, delight in settling into the king-size bed, with a functioning open fire echoing the property's past, it adds to the elegance of the room, alongside the large bay window.

Begin exploring by taking a stroll to The Pavilion Gardens, where an amazing botanical conservatory sits amidst the restored gardens; you can now catch events and fairs here, as well as live bands and an arts centre.

The River Wye runs straight through Buxton Park, making it a scenic spot to enjoy a picnic or a walk along the banks.

Head to the Victorian Pump Room to take the thermal mineral waters, just as the Victorians did, with the waters rising from 5,000 feet below ground, and at a constant 28 degrees.

The Pump Room adjoins the marvellous Crescent, a huge semi-circular building, while The Opera House is nearby and stages music, theatre and ballet shows, as well as being a stylish and ornate Edwardian building.

Poole's Cavern & Buxton Country Park lies outside the centre, visit here to see the natural limestone caves underground, as well as being home to Go Ape Buxton which has a treetop adventure trail.

About the location

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
