After switching all the heaters up it took 2 hours for us to thaw out. Looking around the kitchen there was no heating , a fridge freezer only suitable for 2 people and a washing machine that could easily have been in the utility room and a dishwasher placed in that spot. 3 bathrooms with not one mirror in any off them and then the dreaded thought of trying to carry hot food up the stairs to the dining room . No table in the kitchen . By this time we decided to go out and purchase some tv tables and a small oil fired rad for the kitchen . We have been to many places on holiday but this is probably the worse. I spoke to a person who’s number was on the form about the heating , table etc but wasn’t that helpful. Also no instructions on how to control the heating cooker and for the duration of our stay the hot towel rail downstairs in the bathroom would not work. The place is definitely not suitable for people with any disability and although there is a downstairs bedroom there is not a single chair anywhere . People carrying hot food upstairs is a real No No . We left a day early as couldn’t stand it there any longer .

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
