  • "We had a great stay at hapur cottage."

The cottage was probably one of our favourite places we've stayed in to date. Everything you need was provided for and super clean and tidy and in a great location (local shop and chip shop just up the road) We found the whole cottage to be homely, cozy and very comfortable. Our niece did find the single bed abit uncomfortable and squeaky. On a personal note we loved the bit in the folder about why you brought the house and we followed your recommendation and visited goyt valley. The only slight negative we had was we found the door really hard to lock or unlock but we managed. Other then that we had a fun, comfortable 8 nights and would 100% come back and stay again. :)

Thank you so much for your feedback. I’m so glad that you had a great time. You are welcome to come again! Property Owner

  • "Great cottage which we thought was deceptively big."

It looks quite small from the front! We liked the fact there was everything we needed during the stay, everything had been thought of. Home from home. Beautiful decor & really clean. We left some feedback on the chalk board about two of the beds that really require tightening up ASAP, we were kept up in the night from people turning over & them squeaking so loudly, but that is an easy fix for the owner & they will be loosening over time. The only negatives I have is the back bedroom mattress is seriously uncomfortable, it’s rock hard with no give so I did wake up in pain when I slept in there but soon moved to the front bedroom which is a springy mattress, still not great but slept better in there. The hot water is minimal so 2 x 5 min showers for the kids at the same time wasn’t possible, but it does note to spread showers out because of the small tank. Parking is ok, we just found a side road. If you’re precious about your car I’d not recommend parking it on the main road. Cars & lorries definitely do not do 30mph down there! Thanks to the owner for a great stay :)

Thank you for the feedback - glad you enjoyed my place for the most part. I'll look to make some amendments to make it even better! Sorry to hear about your back pain - the mattress in the back is memory foam whereas the one in the front is a brand new hybrid(I think you were the first to sleep on it!) :) Hope to see you again. • "We had a great stay at Harpur holiday cottage."

It was situated perfectly for us to explore the Peaks. Very clean and tidy, had pretty much everything we needed during our stay and was very homely. Lots of space and storage for everything we’d brought with us. Beds were nice and comfy. No parking but we had no problems finding somewhere close by. We had three young children with us but we took all of our own ‘baby things’ that we would need during our stay, bed guards, chairs, gates etc there was a step in the bathroom for the sink but otherwise no ‘bits’ for young kids so bare that in mind if travelling with kids. Also no real outdoor space to play in but our children were so tired by the time we got home each day it didn’t matter too much! We’d definitely use this place again if we visit the peaks in the future.

Thank you for your feedback! I hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "As expected this little cottage faces a busy road and has no parking but we managed to park on a residential street not far away."

The cottage has everything you need for a short stay but the lounge is lacking a floor/side lamp so we had to bring one downstairs for the evenings. The double mattress in the front front room felt more like a water bed but generally the house was comfortable enough. It could probably do will with a lick of paint in some areas and a proper dust and clean through (the kitchen floor showed signs of the previous occupant which wasn't a great first impression)

02-11-22 - Thank you for the feedback. Based on this, I have purchased an uplighter for the living room, and am working closely with my cleaning team to improve and have fed this back to them. I've also scheduled some paintwork to be done this month. Property Owner

  • "Photos can be deceptive!"

Property looked good/satisfactory However, lacked attention to detail I have left the owner a note outlining some of my issues A lovely cottage but the job half done! Lack of storage (pillows that were not in use were left on the beds and I had to look for pillowcases as none on the bed that I was using) Main issues parking, cleanliness and lack of clear information(does not state that cottage is on a main road) All said did not spoil the holiday just disappointed You expect more as a paying guest

21/09/22 Update: I spoke to my cleaning team and the reason the extra pillows were left like that was because my cleaner’s daughter was rushed to hospital so she had to go. Not an excuse, but an explanation for what happened. It is unlikely to happen again. I apologise for this unforeseen situation. —————— 20/09/22- Thank you for your feedback and I take feedback very seriously. I will look to address any of the things you mention that are in my control. With regards to the photos, I had another guest on a different platform say "Exactly as the photos" and yet, nothing has changed since then. Obviously, we wanted to show an honest view of the cottage and set expectations ahead of time whilst highlighting the features of this 1860 cottage(fireplace, fully stocked kitchen, chalk wall, deceptively spacious rooms, newly double glazed windows to keep the chill/heat out as well as any noise). I worked hard to make this place a cozy and comfortable space so I'm not happy to read that I did not meet your expectations. I am working with my change over team to ensure that extra pillows are put away in the future and reviewing the cleaning. Property Owner

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
