"A lovely cosy cottage in a great location to explore the Peak District ."
. Well appointed, maintained and clean. Great pre arrival service having email information book. The bed in main bedroom is very spacious and comfortable. Totally recommend this cottage
"A friend said before we left how the Peak District rivals the Lake District in beauty."
I can say hand on heart how that was absolutely true and not a drop of rain either! The cottage is in a really good position for walks and not just from the doorstep (we particularly enjoyed walking around the Quarry) but also for exploring further, the Monseal Viaduct was only 10 min drive away. And we had no issues with parking either, nor did we find the hill that steep when walking. The cottage is warm and comfortable, the log burner is easy to use, and works very quickly. And I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. The only thing that I'd point out (perhaps as I'm a fellow cottage cleaner) is the cleanliness, there was a lot of dust around the wardrobe in the master bedroom, cup rings on the bedside tables, and both the mirror and the window had finger smudges all over them. There was also dust all on the bottom of the stand-up speakers by the telly and where the DVD player lives, and the log burner hadn't been cleaned out prior to our arrival. Unfortunately there were dog hairs all over the back of the sofa by the window and I think that having a cream mat by the entrance could be replaced by something darker as it looks very grubby. Some information about a wheelie bin in the welcome pack would have been helpful too? However these issues didn't stop us from having a great time and probably wouldn't stop us from rebooking either.... I'd just bring my own spray and duster next time. :-)
"Fabulous property Only concern was the steep hill I don’t remember reading this on the site it’s only an issue if you have mobility issues - I’ve got arthritis in knees so couldn’t walk the hill ."
Parking wasn’t great but this can’t be helped due to location Just think it should be noted on the site. We had a fabulous time and have no issues with the property at all
"Beautiful cottage - immaculately clean and well equipped with quality fixtures and fittings."
Great location for stunning walks, and for a trip to Chatsworth. Loved it - would stay again in a heartbeat.
"Willow View was a perfect place to stay for us."
We were visiting family in Sheffield and also wanted to spend time in the Peak District so it was a great location. And oh, so comfortable! The cottage is beautiful and very tastefully and thoughtfully kitted out with everything you would need for a relaxing break.
"The property is clean and has everything you need."
Parking is a bit tricky at times. When we arrived we couldn’t get near the place to unload our things which was a bit of a pain.
"One of the best cottages we have stayed in."
"Such a lovely cottage."
Spotlessly clean and everything you need in a holiday cottage provided. Very comfortable and in a great location to visit the whole of Derbyshire.
"A small welcome pack (essentials) would have been a nice touch."
Otherwise I cannot fault your lovely property.
"The property is excellent but not for me as I have mobility issues it maybe that I didn't do research properly."
I think you need to stress this property on a steep hill not any good for anyone with mobility issues.
"Lovely cottage in a pretty setting."
A good number of walks from the door step. Such an amazing part of this beautiful country.
"We loved our stay at Willow View."
The cottage is stunning, scrupulously clean and everything a guest could ever need. We plan to return very soon. Thank you.
Very warm and cosy. The owner provided excellent information about the cottage amenities and surrounding area. There is a lovely welcoming dog friendly pub practically on the doorstep which serves great food. Also an award winning fish and chip shop close by. There are fantastic walks from the doorstep and some great places to visit nearby. We will definitely return.
"Really enjoyed our4 night break for my friend's surprise 60th birthday."
Lovely village walks plenty to do in the area and all the places we ate were superb
"A fantastic property, situated at n a good location for exploring the beautiful surrounding areas."
Highly recommended dog friendly accommodation that was spotlessly clean, spacious and with an excellent log burner.
"A very clean and comfortable cottage a really nice place to stay."
"Wonderful cottage in a beautiful location."
Cosy and warm, especially with the log burner after getting wet, muddy and cold walking in the peaks. Some brilliant walks from the doorstep. Bed is so comfy. Second fantastic week in this wonderful cottage, a great base to use and easy access to the peaks.
"Lovely cottage very well equipped and many local amenities."
Very clean and tidy.
Stayed cool in the hot weather. Kitchen had everything we needed. Beds very comfortable. Having a double and a twin room worked well for us. We enjoyed the enclosed patio, as did the dog. Local shop down the road v helpful. Could have done with another bin bag, 1 for the family over a week was tight.
"A great cottage."
Very clean & comfortable. The steepness of the hill & the parking problems make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems. It should be made clearer in the listing about the severity of the road & also to state the property has 'two parking spaces on a first come first served basis' is inaccurate as really you can park anywhere, but you are competing with everyone else in the street! On the last night we had to park at the other end of the village. But the cottage itself is fantastic & highly recommended.
"We loved the cottage."
The location was great and it was very clean. Would definitely use again.
"This is an lovely holiday cottage in a quiet village which has an excellent Indian Restuarant, pub and ship shop."
The property was spotlessly clean with everything you need for a trouble free stay. Large, comfortably firm bed in the main bedroom and sparkling bathroom. If we want a cottage in the Peaks again then we will definitely go back to this one.
"The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable."
Whilst maps were provided, the usual folder of instructions/local information was missing (due to COVID). The information provided prior to arrival had instructions for oven etc, and suggested walks which we should have printed. A little disconcerting to find a dehumidifier running on our arrival, but this was not a problem and we emptied it daily. An ideal base to explore the beautiful Derbyshire peaks. (Take your own tea, coffee, condiments & dishwasher tablets!).
"The cottage was lovely and we enjoyed our stay."
We'd just like to flag that the toilet paper and handwash was a little under-provided. We had only two loo rolls to last two of us for a week, so we needed to buy more. We also needed to buy handwash. The bathroom container was almost empty on arrival and the one in the kitchen only had a little more in it, which on use we discovered had been watered down. Again, we had to buy our own, which was less than ideal, but otherwise the cottage was lovely and comfortable and perfect for our needs.
"Beautiful cosy cottage, very well equipped, excellent shower, perfect location."
"A beautiful cottage in a lovely location close to plenty of walks and amenities."
The Moon pub is lovely too. The cottage was exceptionally clean and comfortable - so nice that we extended our stay. Thank you Alison we have had a lovely time and can’t wait to return.
"The best cottage we’ve stayed in and we’ve stayed in a lot ,great positions ..."
The best cottage we’ve stayed in and we’ve stayed in a lot ,great positions cosy and very comfortable everything you need and will definitely stay again
"Lovely cottage Very comfortable."
"Everything was perfect for the ideal Christmas get-away."
"We had a lovely pre-Xmas break at this property."
It was so cosy, despite being freezing outside. The whole family loved it and it is an in an excellent location to enjoy all the Peak District has to offer. The owner was super accommodating, allowing us to stay here with very little notice, so thank you very much. We thought very highly of this cottage, so glad we booked it.
"We're just back from a lovely stay at Willow View."
The cottage felt warm and welcoming on a cold December evening when we arrived. As some of commented, it can get cold downstairs in the cottage. Once warmed up though it's a very cosy place to relax. We had a snowed in day and power cut one day so were very grateful for the log fire and had luckily stocked up on logs the day before. We slept very well in the cottage and found the kitchen had all we needed for making meals. Whilst not a lot going on in Stoney Middleton (the quietness preferred so not a bad point) we found the cottage to be a great place to visit all the lovely nearby places. We had a day at Chatsworth, Bakewell and Castleton and all a short drive away. A note that the cleaners were there promptly at departure time and eagerly waiting for our parking space so we had to rush out with luggage. 10am means 10am. We loved the cottage and location and will probably book again.
"A small but well appointed cottage."
The only problem we had was that the sitting area was cold in late afternoon even if heating turned up. The bedroom was warmer than the sitting room. (Our stay was late November and it was cold out). Also although there was a pub with walking distance the only food they served during the week was pizza which took an hour to come. The cottage permits pets which is great but there is no greenery within walking distance to let your dog out for his calls of nature so as others have commented it is not very good for dogs.
"This is a great little cottage."
It is comfortable, well equipped and in a very good spot for access to all the great visiting places in the Dales. The decor and facilities in the cottage are lovely and the enclosed back garden is a real bonus. Good walks from the doorstep and the best Fish and Chips a short walk from the cottage. Would highly recommend.
"A very comfortable cottage in a perfect location for exploring the Derbyshire dales."
"Should say not suitable for elderly with walking difficulties also not suitable for dogs no garden just a yard"
"The holiday rental was clean to the eye but I can only assume the previous occupants had done a lot of frying of food as there was grease on the back of the hob and the cupboards to tue side."
I gave them a wipe over. The downstairs flooring was also pretty grubby when wearing white socks. Also it would be useful to have more than one spare bin liner, thankfully I had a spare one in my car. We stripped the beds when we left as requested but couldn’t find the bags to put the dirty laundry in. Other than that the house was great. Beds were very comfortable. An extra hand towel for the bathroom would also be handy.
"Lovely cottage although we shouldn’t have to struggle shuffling rubbish about due to lack of provided bun bags."
Also no recycling provided or details. Disappointed to see the village shop prominently listed on the cottage information pack shut down in March so should be removed in future. The cottage was in an ideal spot although parking can be tricky. Lovely local walks and plenty of sights to see to make it an enjoyable break.
"Absolutely beautiful property, so well thought out and absolutely immaculate."
Central for so many walks and visits to the local towns. Amazing curry cottage at doorstep and lovely local pub the moon inn.
"Lovely cottage in a brilliant location to explore the amazing area."
We also enjoyed the pub nearby and had amazing fish and chips from the Toll Bar. We met lots of friendly locals too. Would definitely go back again.
Great location for walks. Managed to park outside the cottage every day. We had a wonderful week.
"Beautifully clean, home from home."
Extra precautions taken due to the current COVID 19 situation to help keep everyone safe which did not hinder the enjoyment of our holiday. Perfect quiet location to enjoy surrounding beauty spots and attractions, would definitely recommend.
"The service from Sykes was quite poor with the Covid 19 issues."
But the cottage itself was brilliant. The bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.
"This is a lovely property in Stoney Middleton."
A great location for visiting The Peak district. The property is on a steep hill as others have mentioned so walking and parking may cause difficulty, but this did not for us though. Willow View has a lovely warm atmosphere in the property and has been renovated to a high standard. We will return as we felt really at home here.
"The cottage is on a very steep hill."
You will not get parked outside the cottage as the people who live there put their cars outside the property. you either have to park down the hill, or up the hill which is a bit annoying.
"Lovely little cottage in a great location."
Beautifully clean and well equipped with everything you would need for a self catering break. Super comfy beds and plenty of storage in the bedrooms. Bakewell is only a 10 minute drive away, and there is a large Spa shop only a few minutes drive away. Highly recommend the fish and chip shop a short walk from the cottage, absolutely delicious! The Old Eyre pub between Bakewell and Stoney Middleton is also worth a visit, dog friendly and great food.
"Cottage was perfect."
Only issue for us was the on street parking when we were out until late, but there is a public car park opposite the Lover's Leap garage which is only a brisk 10 minute walk away and as a bonus takes you past the excellent Toll Bar fish & chip shop.
"Because of the steep hill the cottage is on it would be hard for older persons, steps down in the entrance as well which do not show on viewing the web but apart from this to be known the cottage is very comfortable and very well equipped."
A good area to get to many sites and eating places. One comment which I would like the owners to have is, The front door has a wonderful seal to it and can see it needs it to keep weather out BUT with such a small grip to pull the door open even I as a life time farmer with big hands had a problem opening the door, my wife could not manage, just a simple handle to grip and the other hand turning the key is all it needs. We were very happy with our stay and would certainly use it again.
"Wonderful cottage - very clean and comfortable, nicely decorated, and fitted with everything we could possibly need."
The back garden felt very secure for our dog, too. And the location was lovely - a perfect base from which to explore the Peak District.
"We loved our week at Willow View Cottage."
It is quite spacious - lovely big main bedroom with vaulted ceiling and huge comfy bed. The cottage is very well equipped and clean. There is a great pub at the bottom of the road just a minute away and good chippy and Indian in the village too. A great base for exploring the beautiful Peak District. Loads of scenic walks nearby.
"A superb holiday cottage."
Great comfort and well placed for walking. Would probably book again.
"Wonderful little cottage based in a beautiful location."
Everything you need for a home away from home, lovely furnishings and very quite. Ideally located to explore the area.Local fish and chips shop is a must.
"Willow view cottage is on a steep hill/road it would be helpful to know this Thanks!"
"Warmth and comfort of the cottage was superb"
"Fantastic cottage with some lovely walks and facilities nearby."
Excellent stay would thoroughly recommend it. Only thing to be aware of is that it is on a very steep hill.
"Very cosy and very clean."
The kitchen utensils were plentiful only one tiny criticism is there not much room to put groceries that don't need to be refrigerated. Not complaining just a commjent. Otherwise perfect.
"Wonderful comfy cottage."
We loved it! Such a relaxing holiday which was very much needed. The cottage was just gorgeous and it was very difficult to leave. Really couldn't ask for more.
"Fantastic stay in this lovely cottage."
Great location, so clean and beautifully decorated. Would recommend to everyone.
"Enjoyed this cottage and location so much we’ve booked again for next year"
"No it was as expected"
"Lovely little place."
Everything there that we could need. And the weather was excellent. ND
"We were pleased with the cottage which was as good in real life as shown in the photos."
Very well equipped with plenty of everyday cooking essentials which not all cottages have. (oil, flour, salt and pepper, salad cream etc)
"A great cottage and location - but parking may be an issue - up a steep lane."
"Cottage was all we hoped for, but we were not aware that it was situated on such a steep hill."
Anyone not fully fit, would have struggled with both the climb both up and down the hill. It would also be helpful if the Free-sat channels were listed in the guide provided by the owners. We did however have a great time!
"Exceptionally comfortable zip and link beds."
Attractively decorated. Lovely wood burner. Well equipped. Good location.
"The cottage was lovely, comfy, well equipped."
Great location, for walks, restaurant/pubs, near to other lovely villages and towns to visit, also had a fab chip shop nearby, probably the best I've had!! Great price for the cottage would definitely stay again. Thank you!
"This wonderful cottage was a 'home from home' during our short stay."
The owners have thought of everything to ensure everyone's comfort. From the exceedingly comfortable beds, with goose feather duvets to the well equipped kitchen. The cosy lounge was provided with a variety of games and pastimes to suit every age and with a multitude of books and local maps. The log-burning stove was one of the most efficient that we have experienced. We were glad of it during our Winter break. Our stay was cut short unfortunately due to the severe weather, 'the beast from the east' threw its full weight at us and so we left the cottage a day earlier than expected. There was a possibility of being 'snowed in', and then overstaying our allotted time. However should this have been the outcome we would have been extremely comfortable. We have all agreed to return to 'Willow View' later this year when the weather is more favourable.
"Willow View was perfect in every way."
Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, a home from home! Great location to explore the Peak District. Can't wait to return
"Lovely comfortable cottage in good location."
"Great loaction and beautiful cottage."
"It was a pleasure to stay in this cottage."

The village boasts some beautiful listed buildings, such as St Martin's Church and the locally famous octagonal Toll House and only Grade 1 listed Fish and Chip shop in Britain.
Stoney Middleton High Street is famed for being one of the steepest High Street's in the country!
There's a lot to see and do in the surrounding area, such as a visit to Hathersage, with it's outdoor heated swimming pool and the elegant spa town of Buxton.
For a more adventurous day out, why not explore the mysterious caverns of Castleton or a trip to Alton Towers for a great day out.
This Derbyshire cottage is an ideal retreat for a great holiday at any time of the year.
About the location
Eyam 1.5 miles; Bakewell 5.5 miles; Chapel-en-le-Frith 14 miles.
The lovely village of Stoney Middleton is set in between some spectacular Derbyshire scenery, with Middleton Dale just beyond and the fantastic Froggatt Edge very close by. The village is surrounded by some of the prettiest countryside in the Peak District, including The Dale which provides some wonderful rock climbing, cycling and walks following the medieval packhorse track; known locally as Jacobs Ladder this can be walked from the centre of the village passing through Stoney woods and provides wonderful views of Curbar and Froggatt Edge in the distance. Stoney Middleton has an interesting past including the story of heartbroken young Hannah Baddaley who is said to have jumped from Lover’s Leap, at the top of Middleton Dale, after being spurned by her love. A visit to Eyam, just northwest of Stoney Middleton, is a must to see how parts of the village have been kept as they looked several centuries ago, such as the plague cottages, the church and Eyam Hall, a beautiful 17th century manor house with delightful gardens, craft shops and tea rooms. Above the village lies Eyam Moor, a fine area for walking, with fantastic views across the Derwent Valley, with its many Bronze Age remains and monuments. Visit Bakewell, a picturesque market town which holds a market every Monday and the home of the world famous Bakewell Pudding. Explore the mysterious caverns of Castleton, the elegant spa town of Buxton or enjoy the many stately homes on offer such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, to mention a few. With Alton Towers, Britain's premier theme park, only a short drive away, this is an ideal base for all the family.
