We had a minor query during our stay which was resolved very easily with a phone call. All the pre stay info and info at the cottage was very accurate. We would love to visit again as there is so much to do and the surroundings are so beautiful. We enjoyed the circular walk to Lumsdale Falls and it was great to know about that from the cottage info. A really great place to stay - thank you.

  • "We spent a lovely week at Woods View Cottage during February."

The location is perfect - Tansley has walks on the doorstep, a really great pub just up the road, a small park for kids and lots of animals to see on the farm heading up the lane into the woods. Bigger towns like Matlock and Bakewell aren't far in the car either and well worth a visit. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable and most importantly at this time of year.....warm! There were loads of games and DVDS and enough essentials to keep us going once we arrived (tea, coffee, toilet rolls, kitchen roll etc). We knew towels/ linen were included but were also pleasantly surprised to see teatowels, cloths etc too as we've been caught out by not bringing these before and often they're not supplied. For our family of 5 we could've done with another chair around the dining table though as there were only 4. The TV was also pretty poor, very slow to respond with sound cutting out regularly. This didn't bother us too much as we didn't use it a lot, but it's worth knowing. Garden is fully enclosed which was perfect for our dog and the kitchen was really well-equipped. We could've baked a cake if we'd wanted to! There were plenty of bowls, pans, dishes etc etc and the dishwasher was a godsend. Also loved that there was a tumble dryer and the boot room came in really handy too. Overall it's a fantastic cottage and the owner was friendly and informative. Really great stay. Thank you

The location was so beautiful and quiet with a great pub and lovely, scenic walks right on the doorstep. The cottage itself was very cosy and well-equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing break. We had lots of long lie-ins because the beds were so comfortable! The bathroom was lovely and warm with a wonderful and spacious shower. We hope to be able to visit again as there is still so much for us to see in the Peak District. Thanks!

  • "When we booked for Woodsview Cottage, I wasn't sure how much space there would be and whether the images were making the rooms look bigger than they were."

We were pleasantly surprised that there was plenty of space for four all of us and the dog. Sarah was a fantastic host & provided everything we needed. The kitchen and dining area are spacious and well equipped. There is a lovely logburner in the living room. Also internet & Netflix, also many other extras including board games. Although the place sleeps 5, I think that living room and dining space would feel a little cramped with 5 adults. The master bedroom & downstairs single are spacious, although for the upstairs twin room, I think would be a squeeze for 2 adults (also we recommend the bed is made up as a double, as the singles are quite narrow). The cottage was in a lovely position, with sufficient parking for a large car (Galaxy), although beware, the lanes in the village are narrow. Small, pleasant garden, with space to sit outside. Lovely walks just on the doorstep, great pub The Gate Inn, within 200 yards. Covid insurance bookable at time of booking too. :)

Perfectly located to make the most of the beautiful countryside right on its doorstep. We’ve had a great time here. Our trip to Sheffield Hallam university yesterday to drop off our youngest went well. We finished the day with a takeaway from the local Colombo Sri Lankan restaurant. Delicious! Great meal at The Gate Inn on Friday and even found the micro brewery at Bentley Brook just a short walk away! We had a lovely walk to Dethick, Lea and Riber this afternoon Enjoying the views, villages, woods and hills and at the end of the day enjoying the sun trap in the Woods View garden. Many thanks for letting us stay. It has been perfect. Lovely comfortable cottage which we will look forward to returning to.

We are five mature ladies who have previously stayed in Youth Hostels for our walking trips and thought we would try a cottage on this occasion. The cottage was perfect for our needs, within walking distance to a pub and positioned wonderfully well for our walks. The owner was extremely kind in unzipping the king size double beds, to make them into single beds - few cottages have this facility. We all agreed that if we were to return to the area, we would return to Woods View Cottage.

The cottage is very cosy and clean. It had all we needed for our stay and more. It may be worth mentioning there are plenty of games in the cottage to save people bringing their own :-). The views from the cottage and the whole area is wonderful. The Gate Inn pub, just a couple of minutes walk away, is a very friendly pub with a great service and good food. It has been refurbished to a high standard and was a pleasure to spend an evening in. There is plenty to do in the area - for those enjoying nature and walking, there are some lovely walks with stunning views or you can go visiting nearby places such as Matlock Baths, Bakewell etc. We'll definitely be coming back to the area.

The cottage was very clean, cosy and well equipped. It was a cold frosty weekend so the wood burner in the living room was perfect for warming us up after our dog walks. The gate inn is just few 100 yards up the road and was a nice pub to visit and dog friendly too. We walked with the dog to lumsdale falls which was quite impressive. The walk there and back from the cottage was around 3-4 miles and took you to the falls and through the woods. Thankyou very much for letting us stay at your lovely cottage we hope to return again.

  • "Woods View Cottage is a lovely cottage set in a quiet village."

It is very well equipped ,cosy and comfortable and as there was only two of us very spacious. We had an enormous very comfy bed, good shower and well equipped kitchen. It is a home loved by the owners not just a holiday let as it has lovely pictures and little quirky ornaments in the stone wall. There is a file giving precise instructions for all the appliances, we have been in holiday cottages where we struggled to work out how the oven or heating worked. There are walks direct from the door, details of these are also in the file. Tansley is just off the main tourist radar, a very quiet village but with an excellent pub, The Gate Inn, but a short drive to lots of places, we visited Cromford, Carsington Water, Matlock Bath, Crich Tramway Museum. The owner Sarah is very helpful if you need to contact her as we did when on departure we forgot a bag. There is a parking space directly outside the cottage for one car, reverse in and it is no problem, it is down a narrow lane. We had a lovely stay and would return to this cottage , the sun even shone every day.

We had a lovely time. Were able to visit lots of places. Felt comfortable in the cottage. Lovely and clean, well kept. The saucepans need replacing, the nonstick was coming off into the food Its unfortunate that the neighbour opposite decided to knock a hole in his wall to put a new window in. Starting work at 7.30am The second parking place on the road was tricky as there was little space available.

Good contact from Sykes's and the owners pre-holiday. Cottage was immaculate and charming. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated. Great bird watching from the kitchen window. Fab bedrooms with comfy beds, warm and cosy. Shower was amazing but there is no bath for those that like a soak. Pub nearby (the Gate Inn) was 2 mins walk and served great food and had a nice atmosphere. Good walking on the doorstep into Lumsdale but no shop in the village so just a little drive for provisions but we took ours with us so not a problem at all. We had to stay an extra night unexpectedly due to heavy snow and road closures blocking our routes back to Manchester, and the owners were so helpful and kind. Would definitely stay at Woods View cottage again - it was fab. Sarah (South Manchester)
