“Would highly recommend Barr cottage, it is very comfortable like home from home with everything you need and more.”

Parking right outside the front door with room for another car just down the lane. You have a lovely seating area outside with lovely views. And the village of Tideswell is so welcoming.

The property

A charming mid-terrace cottage situated in the attractive Derbyshire village of Tideswell in the heart of the Peak District National Park.

This lovely cottage makes an ideal base for couples or small families visiting this stunning part of the Peak District.

On the first floor, there is a well-equipped modern kitchen with dining table, two beautifully decorated bedrooms with lovely views to the sheep pasture opposite, and a contemporary bathroom, all tastefully decorated to make your stay here as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

Down on the ground floor, the cosy sitting room features beams and a coal-effect fire, creating the perfect place to relax after an invigorating walk in the countryside or a day’s sightseeing.

Outside, you can enjoy the beautiful rear garden which is cut into the hillside.

Take a walk up the steps to the sunny terrace where you can enjoy alfresco dining and sit around the warmth of the chiminea as you take in the wonderful views over the historic town.

Tideswell is one of the most ancient settlements in the central Peak District.

The magnificent 14th century church is the main feature from the medieval era and is known locally as The Cathedral of the Park.

A short drive away is the popular spa town of Buxton and with excellent walking in this area, from the very challenging to a gentler stroll around the hills and dales, this is a perfect holiday cottage all year round.

About the location

TIDESWELL

Buxton 9 miles; Bakewell 9 miles.

The village of Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Famous for its fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as "The Cathedral of the Peak", the village is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes. There is excellent walking with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale just outside the village. Mam Tor and Castleton are only a few miles away and the popular Spa town of Buxton is within a 15 minute drive. Tideswell has many fine country inns, a chemist, butchers, bakers and much more including a convenient supermarket open daily until 10pm. The pretty little market town of Bakewell is also just a short drive away and well worth a visit.
