“Excellent cottage in a lovely location.”
This was our first stay in Tideswell even though we have visited the area many times. It's a great base, close to Bakewell, Chatsworth etc. and some excellent walks. The village has everything you need, a co-op and village shop, bakery, butchers, two chip shops, three pubs and a number of cafes. The cottage itself was lovely, the best we've stayed in so far, we felt right at home from the start. It was very comfortable and cosy, had everything you'd need and was furnished to a high standard. The cottage itself was lovely, the best we've stayed in so far, we felt right at home from the start. It was very comfortable and cosy, had everything you'd need and was furnished to a high standard. The bedrooms in particular were very nice. The welcome pack had just what you needed to get you going, but the co-op is literally just around the corner so you are well placed for getting provisions. If it had off road parking it would have been perfect, and the steps leading up to the front door were a little awkward when loading and unloading, but not a major issue. Would definitely recommend.

About the location

TIDESWELL

Buxton 9 miles; Bakewell 9 miles.

The village of Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Famous for its fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as "The Cathedral of the Peak", the village is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes. There is excellent walking with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale just outside the village. Mam Tor and Castleton are only a few miles away and the popular Spa town of Buxton is within a 15 minute drive. Tideswell has many fine country inns, a chemist, butchers, bakers and much more including a convenient supermarket open daily until 10pm. The pretty little market town of Bakewell is also just a short drive away and well worth a visit.
