  • "This is a lovely cottage in a nice village."

There were originally going to be 4 adults but sadly only 2 of us could make it. Therefore, we didn’t use the games room. We deliberately picked a cottage with 2 bathrooms however we feel the bathroom arrangement would have been a bit inconvenient had there been 4 adults as neither was en-suite. Additionally, the lack of any wood when we arrived meant that we never used the log burner either as we were out walking everyday so didn’t come across anywhere we could buy some. The only shop in the village was the co-op and they didn’t have any. The lack of a welcome pack (even if it had been just some milk) did leave a bit of a sour taste with us. We have stayed in many cottages and this is the first time there hasn’t been one. Having said all of this, we found the bed was very comfortable and we were always able to park the car outside the front of the house. Also Dan very kindly allowed us to check out later as we would have found 9am rather a challenge.

We had a long weekend in September with our 2 year old and 6 year old daughters. I cannot find fault with the cottage, it is beautifully decorated, has plenty of space for a family of four (and we hosted dinner for a further 3 adults whilst there which was easy to do), was super clean and was well equipped. The fact that the play park was 20 yards from the cottage was a definite winner with our girls! We are looking for more dates for a return visit!

  • "Very well presented cottage with lovely decor and well equipped."

The garden area is separate to the property and not for dogs to do their toileting. This isn’t an issue as it is easy to walk along the road outside cottage for this purpose. Small Coop just a few minutes walk away. Parking on road outside cottage fine as always space either outside cottage or further down. Quite a busy road at times when loading / unloading car, depending on time of day. Wi-Fi and TV great, with lots of options including Netflix. Millers Dale a short drive away and lovely for walking. Owners easy to contact if needed and responded quickly. Lovely place, would recommend.

Hi, I’m not sure why you thought the dogs could t use the garden? It’s been specifically made so they can. It’s quite clear in the property details that the garden is completely secure and dog friendly. There is a small gap from the back door to the garden, this is common in the peaks due to the old outside toilet blocks separating the gardens from the properties. Property Owner

Fabulous location, plenty of facilities within walking distance of house. Lots of quirky ornaments & pictures around the cottage. Cosy & warm with constant hot water. Our only negatives were that the towels were rather small & thin and the large enclosed dog friendly garden was not straight off the property. So to let the dogs out for a quick wee In the morning & at bedtime was a walk on the lead. But everything else was absolutely perfect.

There was a lovely private decking area at the back of the cottage where you could relax with a coffee/beer in sun. You can really see the effort that was put in to making the cottage a perfect getaway and home from home. Great location for hikes in the area, with only a short drive to most. Nice central location for getting around the peak district area. The house itself was spotlessly clean, felt fresh and nicely decorated, it was nice to have toilet rolls, kitchen roll , dishwasher tabs, tinfoil, hand soap, bin bags, washing up liquid , tea bags, washing powder, all these things you often forget about and only need a little off when you are on holiday, lots of lovely fresh towels and fresh clean bedding. Beds were comfortable. Spoke to the owner several times and he was a very nice man to liaise with, we were able to access the property easily and checkout easily. We were also offered an early check in as the property was previously empty before we arrived, we could not get a later check out becase of the Covid extra time needed between rentals for extra cleaning, none of this was an issue for us anyway. Everything was just perfect for a pleasant stay.
