  • "Peak View Cottage was a huge disappointment, to all of us."

There was no welcome manual/pack. The property was not clean (lots of cobwebs), there was mould in the bathroom and the toilet was not working properly. Both bed frames and mattresses were in poor condition and need to be replaced (also the second bedroom is too small for a double bed). The wooden floor in the main bedroom has loose floorboards and protruding nails. The kitchen equipment is very lean for 4 people to self-cater. While we were there a damp patch appeared in the smaller bedroom. We contacted Sykes Cottages but they were unable to resolve any of our concerns so we ended up leaving early. We hoped that the owner would wish to make amends to our spoiled family holiday. When things go wrong they can be turned around by how a supplier reacts. In this case when we finally spoke to the owner, it was clear that they were not interested in trying to redeem the situation. In its present condition we would not recommend booking this property and as a family we have rated it accordingly.

  • "Nice cottage."

Friendly neighbourhood. First weekend away without kids for years. Welcome gift of Prosecco and crisps were lovely. Thank you. Shower looked great. But… No welcome manual despite previous guests noting this. No pint glasses so hubby was hurumping. No hot water cos someone had turned the boiler off. No manual so couldn’t do it ourselves. No reply from owner. Went home dirty. Got a small discount for the inconvenience. Feeling disgruntled….

  • "Lack of instructions for cooker, microwave etc."

No information of where the fuse box is. The kitchen fuse blew while we were there and we could not find the fuse box. After contacting Sykes customer service, and they in turn contacting owner, we were informed that the fuse box was in a pain-sealed cupboard above the TV. We therefore had to damage the paintwork to open the cupboard Drinking glasses are few, just enough for 1 glass per person.

  • "The holiday cottage was beautifully furnished and very clean."

It was not good weather when we stayed but there was a small table at the front of the property where you could sit and have coffee and take in the beautiful views. Parking was a slight issue as it is on street, and limited. One evening we had to park a hundred yards down the road and walk back. However would definitely use again.

Thank you for your kind review and sorry you had difficulty parking, we know it can occasionally be busy, but really pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you will stay with us again. Property Owner
