“The cottage setting was spectacular and the interiors very presentable, warm and comfy.”
The owner and staff polite and friendly.
However, a series of basic maintenance/provision issues could improve the experience. Examples are:
1.The two televisions did not work for first two nights as the aerial cabling came loose in bad weather. This is understandable, but there were no DVDs, only a couple of uninspiring left-behind novels, a jigsaw and a Countdown board game with no instructions to substitute. We set up a laptop in the kitchen and my 88 year old mother and 69 year old cousin managed to watch a couple of catchups. The wifi signal seemed to be centrally positioned so ends of cottage were wireless.
2. There were no big saucepans only medium and small. This made cooking a full meal for five tricky.
3. No potato peeler.
4. No serving spoons.
5. Only three mugs of one design and three of another; of four smaller mugs, two were chipped; no desert/cereal bowls just pasta/soup bowls.
6. Although there was a guide book, the lack of obvious instructions to white goods (other than TV/DVD player) and electric shower could pose a problem to some people.
