  • "We stayed in this cottage over Christmas."

Every room was carefully decorated with a small Christmas decoration which made our stay complete. Everything you need can be found in the cottage. Ideal for The Peak District and surrounding countryside. Would definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a comfortable home from home stay to book this cottage.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback :) Happy New Year! Property Owner

Would definitely stay there again. Its tastefully decorated to a high standard and equipped with everything you need. As clearly shown in photos its on a hill this wasn't an issue to us at all . We used the parking at the bottom of the hill in the town we got a rover pass which covered all the places we visited too it's about £32.00 for a week. The village has everything you will need pubs shops takeaways. An absolute must is the cinema this was amazing it has sofas and armchairs sidetables a bar homemade cakes sweets served in jars alcohol in glasses . The owners of Beehive cottage were really lovely and texted us to check all was OK. I woukd give this a 10 out of 10. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Thank you so much for your feedback!! We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future :) Property Owner

  • "Enjoyable little cottage."

The stairs was quite steep. It was a small, but very enjoyable cottage holiday. Not to far from the town. Plenty of walks on the doorstep. No parking space near the house I'm afraid which was unfortunate. While it was an enjoyable holiday and a 'nice' cottage I'd have trouble justifying that much money on that particular cottage.

We are so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay at the Cottage and enjoyed all the walks on the door step. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time at Beehive Cottage and would return and recommend to others."

However, there are a couple of things which we feel should be made clearer in the description. Firstly that the road to the cottage is steep and narrow and that unloading needs to be carefully undertaken. Secondly, that the internal stairs are steep and narrow. Essentially, the property may be unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. Other than this the property is attractive, well maintained, clean, very comfortable, well equipped and situated perfectly to enjoy the centre of this lovely time.

Thankyou for your feedback we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

    * Provide Salt - we did shop in the Co-Op when we arrived & assumed salt & pepper would be in the cupboard. No big deal, and we procured some from the neighbour, but small details make the difference, right! * Cot - include info on where this is stored with welcome email from agency or when you get there. We didn’t think there was one so asked the neighbour who kindly lent us one before Charlotte told us where it was. Again, no big deal just some helpful feedback

Our little one (14 months old) absolutely loved the cottage and so did we! The place is immaculate and has anything and everything you could ask for, including a high chair, travel cot, and safety gates! Located in the town centre with a very handy car park just a minute walk away. An ideal base for venturing out into the Derbyshire Dales. The only suggestion I would have, and it is very picky of me, is having a radio in the kitchen would make it excellent! Thank you for having us!

Lovely location on steep hill in Wirksworth. Neighbours friendly. Home from home. Comfortable - with quality fixtures and fittings. We loved the subtle bee themed decor etc and nice little touches, such as ‘Bee Kind’ written on pillows and lovely bee design on duvet etc. I would love to stay here again. It was a pleasure dealing direct with owners, who were super helpful and kind - as we had family emergency whilst staying there! Check out the ‘star stone circle’ at top of hill - stunning views and impressive sunset.

  • "Such a wonderful find, highly recommended."

We stayed as a family of four with our two girls, 4 years and 11 months and our Westie dog. There was lots of space in the top floor bedroom to accommodate the travel cot and our 4 year old had the single bedroom to herself. She loved the bee theme! The property was comfy and warm and the posh coffee machine was a fantastic bonus. The town itself has lots of amenities, less than 5 mins walk from a couple of decent supermarkets, and a handful of pubs, cafes, fish and chips, takeaways and wine bars on offer. The property is up a hill, which our 4 year old had no problems climbing, but we used a carrier for the baby rather than the pushchair which we left in the car. The car park at the bottom of the hill was easy to find and we purchased a parking pass online when we arrived. Highly worthwhile if you’re planning on visiting other towns in the area as the parking extends to several places in the Derbyshire dales. Would definitely come again and recommend to friends.

Thankyou so much for your feedback and supporting a small business ❤ You and your family have been such a pleasure and we hope to see you back in the future! We're so glad your daughter enjoyed the bee theme Property Owner

We went to the leisure centre to get our 3-day car park pass. Parking in the centre of town was fine. Such a pretty town with excellent pubs/restaurants. The cottage was cosy, beds were really comfortable. Suggest you bring hot water bottles and slippers if you come during the winter.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage, very good central heating, great beds and a great shower."

All of the things we look for! Handy location for town but on a very steep hill. However wasn't particularly clean when we arrived - the rug hadn't been vacuumed, there were crumbs on the cook top, the coffee machine hadn't been cleaned and neither had the bathroom taps.

Hi Fiona, we're extremely sorry to recieve this feedback. If you had raised this to our attention we would have arranged for the cleaner to come back in as this is not the normal standard we would expect. Thankyou for visiting and we hope to see you back in the future! Thanks Charlotte and Jude Property Owner

  • "It wasn't made clear before booking the hill the cottage is on isn't just steep: it's actually about 1 in 4."

Parking to unload/load is by no means easy (assuming your car can cope with a stop on that hill.) We unloaded without a problem but when loading I had to move the car round the block twice because of vehicles waiting to pass. Eventually we trespassed onto the private off road parking area opposite which happened to be empty and loaded from there. A bit of extra width by removal of the window box so you can get nearer the wall might help. For anyone with knee problems a steep flight of stairs between bedroom and bathroom and an unusually steep hill to climb up and down to the shops may make this not the ideal cottage for them, as I found. About do-able for us but others might not be so lucky. There seems to be a TV reception problem: we had to watch everything by using i-player and similar because otherwise it was "No Signal". If this is the usual situation a clear simple idiot's instruction guide explaining that would be useful, not the manufacturer's very small-print full handbook. A similar sheet would be useful for the cooker - you don't want to have to search through the book when you just want to brown a fish pie in the oven - and our cooker is even the same make! Having said that it is thoughtful to have provided all instruction leaflets. Otherwise, yes, it's lovely and warm and we did enjoy the view from the bedroom.
