  • "Cosy little cottage perfectly equipped for a holiday."

Great spot for walking and exploring the area.

  • "A beautiful cosy cottage right in the heart of the lovely town of Wirksworth."

Parking is not an issue - just 30 seconds walk up the road. We loved our stay, thank you so much.

  • "Did not expect to arrive to be greeted with dirty towels in the bath and dirty bed linen in a pillow case at the end of the bed, and the cottage requiring cleaning."

The was resolved quickly, but it left a bad feeling knowing that dirty towels and linen was left in the cottage from Friday; as we arrived on the Sunday that would have been for three days. Also, please note that the time to depart at 9 am is a bit on the early side. After we had departed the cottage we had a further walk around the town before leaving in our car and on passing our cottage at 10 am was surprised to see that it did not appear to have had anyone visit to clean. I would of preferred to respond by phone rather than by this email, but was unable to get through to Customer Services yesterday due to being continually having to wait in a queue.

  • "Lovely cottage with most things required."

Unfortunately the double bed was extremely uncomfortable due to what appears to be a very cheap spring mattress.

  • "Absolutely gorgeous cottage."

Spotless clean. Everything you could possibly need is available within the cottage. Cottage is perfectly located for shops, pubs, takeaway’s. Some beautiful walks right from the door. We found parking no problem at all. We will definitely return.

  • "Fantastic little cottage in a great location."

The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need and left us some lovely cake, mince pies and Christmas presents. Very comfortable and the hot tub was an added bonus in a fab cave. Thank you so much we loved our stay and would 100% come again.

  • "Fantastic cottage in great part of the country."

As soon as we entered the cottage felt very welcoming with a little gift there as well. Property had everything you could possibly require and more, fantastic. Parking was extremely tight and limited and had to park on the road. This however would not deter us in the slightest about booking the cottage again since we thoroughly enjoyed our break there. Would highly recommend, plenty to do in and around the area as well.

  • "There was no fire starter pack as stated."

also was very busy with people walking pass inches from windows and looking in. festival was on. although knew there was no parking on site didn't think I would have to park nearly half a mile away. the shower leaked through light in front room after 1st use. [ this was fixed quickly] unable to set heat as we required as this seemed to controlled by hive. was a lot of rules and regulatons. no where to hang coat or put boots after walks in the peak district! the only thong we really enjoyed was the hot tub. [which will be removed after this season why?]

  • "The cottage was good and the location very nice, considering its a walkers area the cottage could have had a drier to dry cloths, there is a washing machine but no drier, but there is a dish washer, suggest remove the dish washer and in its place put a drier, also a bowl for the kitchen sink would help."

  • "Nice welcome on arrival, bottle of wine and chocolates."

Really good information pack for Wirksworth, some great local pubs and shops in walking distance. Very clean and well furnished. Comfortable bed, warm shower. Hot tub is great! Car parking up the road as mentioned and only a 10second walk to the cottage! Thoroughly recommend Fryers Cottage.

  • "Had a wonderful break in Fryers Cottage."

It had everything we needed and there were also lots of extra thoughtful touches. The owners had thought of everything. We enjoyed the cake that had been left for us! Cottage was very clean and tidy. Hot tub was amazing! It was only a five minute walk to the centre of Wirksworth where there are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs to choose from. Everyone was also really friendly. Only a couple of disadvantages for people who are less mobile... The stairs are quite steep, might be a bit tricky for someone less mobile. Also there is no parking next to the cottage. The parking is further on up the hill and isn't an allocated space but we always managed to find somewhere to park. However I think both these points are mentioned in the description. Would love to visit again!

The cottage is beautiful - furnished, equipped and maintained to a very high standard. It is a great location to explore the wider area and perfectly situated within easy walking distance of the facilities in Wirksworth. Our second holiday with Sykes and again a very professional and straightforward experience and prices very reasonable, especially for school holidays. Overall, a lovely, homely, cosy cottage and we will definitely be returning!
