About the property

Centrally located in the Derbyshire Dales market town of Wirksworth, is this delightful stone-built barn conversion, The Coach House.

Pubs, shops, restaurants and many of the local amenities in the quaint and quirky locality are quite literally on your doorstep.

This heart-warming retreat has been renovated with a small family or couples in mind, offering a homely base for those wishing to take a tour of its surrounding areas.

On the ground floor the large double bedroom comes with a plush king-size bed for getting some much needed rest for the day ahead and a selection of useful furniture for storing your personal belongings.

The well equipped compact kitchen gives you plenty of scope for food preparation, gather with your home-cooked meals in the dining room, a relaxing space to bring out a board game or book on those quieter evenings, the useful drying cupboard in the entrance hall will take care of all your wet coats and muddy boots should the weather not be kind.

On the first floor, a second bedroom with two comfy single beds can be found, as can the family bathroom, containing a stylish roll top bath with traditional shower mixer tap, also upstairs is the bright, spacious living area where you will be able to glimpse a view of the town's historic church spire and onward to the beautiful surrounding countryside.

At the side of the property is a small, dog friendly patio area to sit out and enjoy a drink or two and just moments away you will find a peaceful meadow offering a pleasant retreat and convenient space to stretch the legs of your canine friend.

One thing for sure is that whatever your tastes and interests you'll never run out of things to see and do.

Stroll up to the Star Disk or Black Rocks to enjoy their imposing views, venture further out on foot along the High Peak trail, plan a nostalgic trip upon the Ecclesbourne Valley railway headquartered in the town, nearby Carsington Reservoir is a great place to hire a bike and spot the wildlife, partake maybe, in the plethora of water sports that are on offer there.

Take a short drive out to Cromford village and the bustling town of Matlock, stop off along the way to visit the world heritage site of the Derwent Valley Mills or the Heights of Abraham with it's exciting cable car ride and cavern tours, further afield, but not too far, are the magnificent stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, be sure to explore those must see scenic beauty spots like Dovedale and the Monsal Head within the Peak District National Park.

All in all, The Coach House is the perfect place to stay in order to access many of Derbyshire's finest sites.

There is also an annual Arts festival with an amazing Art & Architecture Trail in September, showcasing contemporary art and international performers of every kind. With an art deco independent cinema and a range of places to eat there is plenty to entertain. The town offers a leisure centre with a climbing wall and a small trainer swimming pool, The Eco Centre, The National Stone Centre and the Mount Cook Adventure Centre.
