Snapes Farm Cottages

Set within the owner’s beautifully manicured grounds are two handsomely finished barn conversions, offering privacy and tranquility on the outskirts of the small Derbyshire village of Kirk Langley. Tucked away from the main road and down a lengthy private drive, these one bedroom country cottages sleep up to two guests each. They’re simply perfect for a couples’ retreat in the green countryside, on the edge of the Peak District. Dating back to before the Doomsday Book, both cottages retain many original features. With exposed wooden beams and vaulted ceilings, they have been newly refurbished to the highest standard, with spotlights, modern fitted kitchens, and brand new fixtures and fittings throughout. Each kitchen has everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Sleek white units hold a dishwasher, electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer and more, allowing you to create impressive meals to be enjoyed either at the dining area or al fresco. Relax in the comfortable lounge area, where you can snuggle up with your loved one in front of the wood-burning stove, before heading to the comfort of the king-size bed and what will undoubtedly be one of the quietest night’s sleep you will ever experience. Begin your day with a hot shower in the spacious and immaculately presented ensuite bathroom, fitted with all of the conveniences expected of modern living. Step outside into your own private English country garden, where you can enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine, or the last of the evening light. On warmer summer days, why not make use of the sun loungers in the meadow - an idyllic spot surrounded by the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Travel into the surrounding local villages, and you’ll be spoilt for choice with award-winning country pubs and eateries in abundance. With the Peak District on your doorstep, there’s much to do. How about a trip into the famous market town of Ashbourne and its many antique shops, the Victorian spa town of Buxton, or the picturesque village of Hartington - famous for its cheesemaking and a must for cheese-lovers? Head into the centre of Derby to explore the museums, the Cathedral, art galleries and a host of cute cafés and restaurants. Take a stroll through the Derby River Gardens and along the River Derwent, enjoy the shops of the old town in Sadlergate and Irongate, or indulge yourself in Derby’s modern shopping mall. For the more adventurous, an outdoor activity centre, Wild Park Derbyshire is within walking distance of the cottages. You can hop on a quad bike for some off-roading thrills, or try your hand at archery, crossbow or paint-balling. Whatever piques your interest, and should you require, the owners would be more than happy to share their recommendations, to ensure you have the most delightful of stays. Snapes Farm's Cottages offer two equally fabulous properties, and the perfect location to enjoy an idyllic and tranquil break within the Derbyshire countryside.
