The lodge was lovely the bath was amazing and beautiful surroundings and so peaceful Henry the owner was very friendly and happy to help if you needed anything and the only thing i could suggest is a mirror in the bedroom would definitely go back again- Miss Webster, February 2020
“The bath and shower were not suitable for the less mobile.”
This should be mentioned in cottage details. Cottage was cold and we found it difficult to get a comfortable temperature. The bathroom was extremely cold and if there was underfloor heating we certainly couldn't feel it. Also a mirror in the bedroom would be useful if not essential. Apart from this we enjoyed our stay at would book again.- Mr Hughes, October 2019
“A very cosy and comfortable cottage set in beautiful grounds, which you can walk around.”
I loved the idea of the log burner but to be honest it was never cold enough to need it on (sadly) Very useful to have essentials and cleaning products provided as this saves either having to bring with you or purchase on arrival. Highly recommend and would love to return at some point.- Mrs Docherty, September 2019
“The Lodge is a beautifully presented and very comfortable cottage and is ideally placed for exploring this part of Scotland.”
We visited St Andrews, Edinburgh, Perth, Scone Palace, Falkland Palace, lots of NT properties, the beautiful Loch Leven and lots more! We would definitely recommend The Lodge and hope to return here ourselves.- Mrs Price, September 2019
“We were surprised to find such an excellent property available to us at such short notice in high season.”
We enjoyed the hospitality of the hosts in making this available and looking after us so well.- Mr Deeney, July 2019
“A lovely cottage that was surprisingly more spacious than expected.”
Everything about the cottage was as comfortable & luxurious as our favourite Norfolk stay. It is in a great location for exploring Dundee, the Fife coast & Edinburgh. We really enjoyed being able to come back to the peace & comfort away from the far too busy Edinburgh & so easy & cheap to do via the Park & Ride. The Fife coast was also a delight we didn't know about before & Culross was probably the highlight - a gorgeous little restored old town. Even wildlife appeared next to the cottage - we had a hare one morning & family of ducks trouping across the drive another. We would definitely recommend it & would like to return ourselves.- Ms Campbell, July 2019
“The lodge was absolutely perfect for a serene getaway to relax in what felt like our own private estate but close enough to all amenities we needed.”
During a walk around the estate on one evening alone we saw so much, cows playing in the meadow to a fox and a family of badgers. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.- Mr Everett, July 2019
“Everything about the Easter break at the Lodge was perfect from the ease of booking to the Lodge itself, which is beautiful and well planned out.”
We will definitely return.- Mrs Fletcher, April 2019
“Loved every minute of staying at The Lodge.”
It was spotlessly clean, in a great location and had everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay. I would recommend it to anybody.- Mrs Gordon, March 2019

“We Would holiday here again without a moments hesitation.”
The area is lovely with lots to do within an hours drive. Our stay in the lodge couldn’t have been more perfect. The accommodation is extremely comfortable, well equipped and easy to self cater in, had everything we needed ( gorgeous towels and bed linen, clean and high quality) and was of an exceptional finish despite being a very old building. We were left alone during our stay which gave us the peace and quiet we were looking for but our hosts were available should we have needed them. We didn’t have any problem with traffic noise from the road. The lodge is situated at the edge of beautiful woodland and we walked there everyday...lots of badger watching at dusk! An absolutely perfect place to stay. Thank you- Mr Croft, June 2018

Known locally as Muchty, the village of Auchtermuchty can be traced back to Roman times, with the distinctive name translated from Scottish Gaelic as the somewhat less romantic ‘upland of the pigs’. Gaining royal burgh status in the 16th century and developed commercially through engineering, linen and whisky. Used as the backdrop for the television series ‘Dr Finlay’s Casebook’, the village still boasts the Tannochbrae Tea room. A statue in the village commemorates Sir Jimmy Shand, accordion player and bandleader and The Proclaimers also hail from the village. Auchtermuchty has local shops, pubs, chemist and a post office. There is much to see and do in this part of Scotland whether it is exploring nature in the RSPB reserve at nearby Loch Leven or one of the many boat trips available along the famous East Neuk coastline.
