Well equipped and spacious. Ideally placed for walking/running in the mountains and beautiful countryside. Aberfeldy with good facilities; cinema, restaurants, swimming pool only a few miles away. We had a fabulous weeks stay. Thank You

  • "Such a peaceful setting in a beautiful landscape with so much of interest within easy reach."

Balmore was just what we'd hoped for, a home from home with all we needed. We especially liked the lovely riverside walk just over the back fence!

  • "The sales info doesnt do this cottage or its location justice."

Has everything you need and the gardens are beautiful. But sad we spent little time there really because the location is perfect - Glenlyon is so beautiful and quiet.

  • "Fabulous holiday exploring the area."

Didn't need to travel far and had an amazing week. The kids climbed their first Monroe and had lots of other walks and trips out. Weather was incredible so we swam in the local river most days too. The cottage was great. Slightly undersells itself on the pics. No issues and everything we needed. One of our best family holidays

  • "The cottage and location were excellent."

Everything had been thought of and the standard of housekeeping was high. I particularly enjoyed the quirky, vintage interior and loved the garden which was well looked after with incredible views. I would love to go back again sometime.

  • "We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cottage's location."

Friendly neighbours. Welcome use of cottage's garage, though quite a tight fit to edge car in and out. Shower in/over bath was very tricky for one family member to negotiate. Delightful gardens and super access surprise to River Lyon! Lovely walks from doorstep; saw much wildlife, including deer and pine marten. Excellent base for Munros. Excellent base for Loch Tay and Glen Lyon. Castle Menzies a gem. Property might be improved by nets or blinds in kitchen window. Cottage lovely and warm and bright.

We loved how close it was to the river and the local village, which had everything including a cinema and swimming pool! The cottage was lovely and warm and was well kitted out, we even baked cakes in the kitchen.

About the location

Aberfeldy 6 miles, Pitlochry 20 miles, Dunkeld 24 miles.

The village of Kenmore sits at the eastern end of Loch Tay where the River Tay flows out of the loch and dates from the 16th century. Originally built on the north side of the river, the village was moved in mid-sixteenth century to accommodate a castle being built on the north shore. The relocation gave the village its current name reflecting its position on a large headland: Kenmore – ‘large head’ in Gaelic. It is Loch Tay that makes Kenmore such a popular tourist draw today with the many watersports, fishing, hillwalking and cycling activities on and around the loch. Why not visit the Scottish Crannog Centre and discover an ancient way of life in a reconstructed thatched house on stilts? Built on the loch and able to repel danger with the aid of a retractable gangway, these houses provide a fascinating insight into ancient civilisations. The village has shops, a couple of hotels and a restaurant and with the attractive towns of Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Dunkeld nearby, the tourist is very well provided for. The area is famous for its truly spectacular scenery and whether you are on the water, in the hills or in the shops, Kenmore can provide a stunning backdrop to a very pleasant break.
