It is one of the best places we have ever rented, so comfortable and well-equipped. Even though it got as low as -5 degrees the cottage felt cosy. Wendy was always on hand to answer any questions, and was very attentive and made us feel very welcome. Thoroughly recommended!

Plenty of information in the property about local attractions within easy reach. We were lucky enough to have wonderful weather. We managed to fit in a visit to the Kelpies. Falkirk Wheel, Stirling Castle, Wallace Memorial, Dunblane Cathedral and a 2 hour cruise on Loch Lomond (I think the 2 hour one is much better than the shorter one, which doesn't go around the interesting islands). Good easy walking close by in the Plean Country Park. The only negative about the area is that Stirling is currently full of road works with diversions, making navigation difficult. Property strongly recommended !

Inside of cottage was lovely - clean, warm, bright, well equipped and really comfortable. Outside the cottage there is a small, pretty garden which fronts on to a working stables and plant nursery - this did not worry us as we come from farming backgrounds but obviously a working landscape rather than a domestic garden. The scenery around the site is lovely. One would definitely need a car but really well located for reaching tourist attractions.

The cottage was lovely, comfortable and very well-equipped. You could tell a lot of careful thought had gone into the facilities and equipment. The owners, who live on the same site, were friendly and helpful but not intrusive, and we enjoyed the lovely setting complete with a beautiful flower garden, and the company of their friendly dogs and cat. Although the location was very peaceful and rural, there are plenty of interesting places to visit within a very easy driving distance, from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Falkirk, Linlithgow and Stirling to the lochs and mountains of the Trossachs. We had a wonderful week and definitely hope to return.

A lovely cottage that has been thoughtfully renovated and designed. Lots of space, the kitchen and dining room were both really nice and the lounge was equally good - very comfy sofas! The downstairs shower room was well equipped and modern and the upstairs bathroom was also very smart. The 2 bedrooms were large with good sized beds. Lots of storage space for everything we took with us. The cottage had everything anyone would need. We took our own towels and used our own condiments/foil/cling film/cooking oil etc, but we didn't need to, the kitchen drawers and cupboards had so many items for people to use. We ate in at night, as we were out every day - it was nice and relaxing to be in MuirMailing for a week away. Wendy was lovely, very helpful -also really nice to see the ponies going out on the field when it wasn't too wet and the dogs were so well behaved. A really great place to stay - 40 minutes from Edinburgh - lovely walks around Stirling Castle and Edinburgh, plus the country park nearby. Would highly recommend

Muirmailing Farm Cottages

Muirmailing Farm Cottages are a duo of contemporary yet homely dwellings, resting in a rural position a mile from the Stirlingshire village of Plean, half way between Stirling and Falkirk. Both enjoy countryside views, stylish interiors and private patios so that the pairing offers a delightful base for couples, families and friends, together accommodating up to 8 guests. The cottages lie within the confines of Muirmailing Farm with its farming and horticultural history still lingering in the surroundings. Neighbouring sheep and cattle are nearby whilst the owners’ dog, cat and ponies will say hello if you want. Within 500m is Plean Country Park where you can walk, cycle and even run in the National Park Run held there every Saturday. The owners are on-hand to assist with your enjoyment of the cottage allowing you to discover Scotland’s captivating history at Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument or the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre, whilst for the youngsters, Blairdrummond Safari Park is always a hit or fishing and horse-riding at Wellsfield Riding School (BHS approved). About the location

STIRLING

Falkirk 12 miles; Glasgow 30 miles.

Stirling is Scotland’s youngest city and yet one that has so much history, specifically Mary Queen of Scots and William Wallace. ‘He who holds Stirling holds Scotland’ was the advice that inspired many famous battles including Bannockburn, and the story of Stirling’s history is evident today in the Old Town, which also boasts family ghost walks and tales from the graveyard. Stirling Castle boasts a superb, dramatic cliff-top location overlooking the city and provides a stunning outlook from its battlements to the mountains, cliffs and winding River Forth snaking away to Edinburgh. The nearby Wallace Monument also offers breathtaking views for those willing to attempt the steps to the top! Stirling is a university town and, as such, has many restaurants, bars and coffee houses as well as extensive shopping facilities. Its central location offers excellent access to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth, each less than an hour away by car, while closer to home is the historic, Victorian spa town of Bridge of Allan.
