  • "Superb accomodation, spotlessly clean and equipped to a very high standard."

This property has 2 double bedrooms (one of which is on suite and has a walk in wardrobe) and 1 single bedroom plus a bathroom and a huge lounge, dining area and kitchen. Dogs are allowed as well. Ideal base to visit numerous towns and tourist attractions. Lots of walking trails nearby. Nearest towns for shopping essentials are Dollar, Kinross and Auchterader all are approx 8 miles away. Cannot recommend this highly enough probably the best of its type of accomodation we have stayed in, it is just a shame we live so far away !!!!

  • "Just had a wonderful week at Pine Tree Lodge, Glendevon."

The park itself is very quiet & the residents are very friendly. Lots of places to walk the dog with beautiful views. The lodge itself was spacious & clean with lots of homey finishing touches. The central heating was very efficient on cold mornings & the insulated cabin kept warm all day. Jesse looks after the lodge extremely well & was always on hand to give advice. The Lodge has all mod cons, definitely a home away from home. The finishing touch would of been if the washing machine was also a dryer, as getting wet is to be expected in Scotland in late September. However, that's just a thought, we had a great time & we'll definitely be back next year!

We had a lovely peaceful time. Lots of good walks on the doorstep for us and our dog and friendly neighbours to chat with. Good location for day trips out and about and easy access to major routes. Should have booked for two weeks !!

  • "The pictures, description and feedback were completely accurate."

The lodge was spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet and very well appointed. There was a minor problem with the en suite shower (the main shower was fine) when we arrived but a quick phone call to the excellent lady 'concierge', Jesse, and the problem was fixed pretty much immediately. What I do want to comment on is the attention to detail. Little things, like enough quantities of beverages, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, shower gel, shower cap etc. (even a small toothbrush and toothpaste), meant we could be entirely relaxed about going to the supermarket to stock up on things we'd needed or forgotten. Altogether these various small items couldn't have amounted to more than a few pounds for the proprietors but those few pounds bought an awful lot of goodwill. We recommend this site without reservation.

  • "This is our second time at The Pine Tree Lodge and yet again failed to disappoint."

Dog friendly and the residents are friendly towards you. Jessie goes out of her way to assist you. There used to be a wee shop and coffee shop on site but for some reason it's now not open. But hey you have coffee/tea in your lodge. But there are shops in nearby towns Dollar and Auchterarder, and the local Chinese and India takeaways do deliver for a fee. All in all a nice peaceful retreat with plenty of good walks. Looking forward to going back.

Easy booking system all information we needed about the lodge and facilities. Brilliant that it is dog friendly with enclosed garden and lots of walks right on the door step. Everything that you need for a self catering family holiday we will certainly use Sykes again as we have had such good experience with this holiday.

Clean and matched the images on the asykes website. The only disappointment was the garden fence was only chicken wire on two sides, that was not secure for our dogs. Apart from that only complaint, this property ticks every box and will be recommended to friends and family.

It was also very roomy. I suppose one of the things that impressed me the most was the standard of insulation in the cottage. Despite having one or two fairly cold nights, the cottage itself remained very cosy. The surroundings on the site were lovely. We saw red squirrels almost every day. There was a lovely assortment of birds feeding off the bird table. All in all, a very pleasant holiday.

Nice clean and well presented cabin and dog friendly. No lights on the site apart from little ones on the cabin but this all adds to the atmosphere and enables to wildlife to roam, Deer roam the campsite at times although we did not see any, falling to sleep listening to Owls hooting was different and relaxing. Residents of the site are friendly and happy to help out with anything, the staff in the site coffee shop are friendly and again happy to help you. If you have a dog with you they must be kept on a lead on the site but just across the road is a big field were they run to their content, plenty of good walks in the area. We also ordered a takeaway twice and they deliver to the site, they do charge up to £4 for delivery and can take over an hour but considering they travel about 8 miles to get to you that ain't bad and it's hot! We also had a meal in "The Inn at Muckhart" all home made food, about 4 to 5 miles away although there is one a lot closer. We are already looking at going back, it was such an enjoyable and relaxing time.

About the location

Tillicoultry 3 miles; Kinross 12 miles; Stirling 13 miles; Dunfermline 13 miles

Dollar sits at the foot of the Ochil Hills on the road between Stirling and St Andrews. The town is dramatically overlooked by the remains of Castle Campbell, also known as Castle Gloom, and has superb walks up the steep glen to the castle. The early life of the village was fulfilling the needs of the castle’s owners, the lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, until the castle was burned down in 1654 in retaliation for the Duke’s support for Cromwell. The village recovered in the 18th century with the opening of copper and lead mines in the surrounding hills and with subsequent ironworks enhancing its prosperity. With the opening of the prestigious Dollar Academy at the beginning of the 19th century, the village transformed into the attractive and prosperous town it is today. The town has a mix of shops and cafes and the drive or walk up the glen to the castle provides stunning views as the countryside opens out to the south. The popular tourist town of Stirling is 13 miles to the west with its dramatic castle and monument to William Wallace. Gleneagles and Perth are within easy reach, as is the Fife coast and St Andrews.
