Lodge was spotless and very comfortable, Jessie has made a real effort, thinking of all the little extras you may need. Was lovely to meet Jessie as she wanted to make sure everything was OK for us. Located in a beautiful area with great walks on your doorstep. Perfect place to chill, recharge and our dogs to escape noisy firework.

  • "Lovely cosy cabin and we really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again."

Area is beautiful and it's a great base for touring in any direction. One thing I would advise is to always use the bathmat getting out of the shower as our last morning there, bathmat was not right beside shower door and when I stepped out of shower, my foot slid and I ended up falling and hit my back on the toilet bowl, resulting in a nasty bruise. Could have been alot worse, tiles are very slippery when wet, so please make sure bathmat is always there to step out onto.

So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at The Wee Lodge. Sorry to hear about the slip and hope you have fully recovered, we'll look into possibly larger bath mats to prevent this happening again. Heather & Jessie Property Owner

Thank you, glad you enjoyed your stay, looking forward to welcoming you back next year. The exterior is due for a face lift, should have been done this year, but the weather was not on our side, rescheduled for early spring. Thanks Heather & Jessie Property Owner

The exterior is shabby, peeling varnish. Extractor fan not working, cooking smells all over the lounging area. Oven door broken since July according to visitors book. Shaver light bulb out as is a bulb in lounge area. Handle on hall cuboard door missing. Place was clean but mantainace has not been kept up to. Expect better for the price paid.

  • "The property was in a beautiful spot, we really enjoyed our stay."

Previous feedback has acknowledged that the Lodge needs a bit of TLC - I agree. However, I'm putting this down to it being a busy summer. I don't mind peeling paint or cobwebs outside but I do think that the oven needs attention. The door does not seal shut when on, so the heat is constantly escaping - need to add on at least 30 mins cooking time. Also, the welcome tray was a great touch but what would have made such a big difference is one washing machine tablet. With two children and a dog, a quick wash would have been great but by the time I realised I needed one, I was not going to drive 6 miles to a little Co-op, but 6 dishwasher tablets was lovely but unnecessary.

Thank you for your feedback. We were unaware there maybe an issue with the oven, we will investigate this. We provide a washing machine for guests convenience, as with most small self catering accommodation, laundry products are not provided. Due to the remoteness of Glendevon, guests are always advised to check what provisions are needed beforehand. Thank you for choosing The Wee lodge. Heather & Jessie Property Owner

Cozy, spacious and well equipped. It was a nice added touch to have milk and other essentials there for us on arrival. Appreciated the washing machine with young children! The hosts were lovely and communication was easy. We loved the location of the lodge, in the forest yet well positioned for exploring the surrounding area. A great week spent here and we will be returning. Thank you!

Thank you for you kind feedback, we're happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at The Wee Lodge. The countryside surrounding Glendevon Country Park is truly beautiful, we look forward to welcoming your family in the near future. Heather & Jessie Property Owner

    - internet - bathroom light - cooker hood - cd player Rest all is good. We can still manage but I have a 5yrs old kid who got completely bored during his stay and don’t want to stay in the lodge at all. We have booked the trip for him to enjoy during summer holidays but no luck. I will completely recommend to take care of these things before renting out to anyone.

We are saddened to hear you didn't enjoy your stay at The Wee Lodge. Due to the remoteness of Glendevon Country Park, internet is sometimes limited. We have recently switched provider from BT to EE, unfortunatly there has been patchy service due to a mast down this has now been rectified so I am told. I think there must have been a blip with the electrical supply during your stay, everything seems to be working again, apart from the CD player, which we don't have in the lodge. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. Heather & Jessie Property Owner

  • "A cosy and very spacious lodge but needs a bit of tlc."

The interior decoration is very tired and could do with updating. Carpets and walls are stained and marked. Main bathroom needs the side panel of the bath replacing as damaged in top left hand corner. Old wall geen colour showing round the cistern where the walls are cream. The same is showing at the bottom of the TVin the living area. The exterior paintwork is really poor and needs repainting/ staining. The garden is nice but in our opinion not really child or dog friendly as its a bank and no flat grassed area to run round in. The gas tank takes up some if the garden area as well. As it is at present It's not the normal standard of accommodation we have previously had with sykes but it could be fabulous if a bit of work is done to it. The area is lovely and the neighbours are really friendly. Very central for a lot of fabulous places to visit.

Thank you for your feedback. We would have to disagree with your rather harsh comments regarding the lodge interior, which is regularly maintained and cleaned to a high standard. The exterior is due to be re-stained this summer. The particulars describing the lodge do state the elevated position, the photographs clearly show the sloped garden, which includes the gas tank, which is an obvious necessity. We would also disagree The Wee Lodge is below the standards expected for Sykes Cottages, in fact this is the worse review we have ever received since joining Sykes in 2018. Glendevon is a beautiful part of the world, that we can agree on. Thank you for choosing to stay at The Wee Lodge. Heather & Jessie Property Owner

We went on 10 March, and at the time snow was forecast. Jessie, the owner kept us updated with the weather at the lodge, which was much appreciated. When we arrived, the lodge was bigger than we expected, very impressed. It was a home away from home, very clean with lots of nice little touches. It was so nice and warm too. The pods for the coffee machine was a nice touch. There was even some DVDs to watch. Jessie the owner came and introduced herself a couple of days later. She asked if everything was OK, and did we need anthing. The site is so lovely and quiet, very peaceful. We did have a little snow, but also lovely days too. It is central for sightseeing, and we did something every day. I had always wanted to see the Kelpies, and boy they didn't disappoint. We went late afternoon, so we saw them in the daylight and at night when they were lit up. Amazing! We also saw the William Wallace monument, the views were fantastic. It is a steep walk, but they do have a bus. Next time we go, I would take our firestick, but that's just our choice. All in all we had a lovely relaxing stay, I just wish we'd booked for 2 weeks rather than 1. Thank you Jessie x

The property

The Wee Lodge is a detached lodge situated in Glendevon Country Park, Scotland.

The property is in an elevated position and would be unsuitable for those with limited mobility, despite the accommodation all being located on the ground floor.

Entering the lodge into a spacious hallway, you will be led into an open-plan living room with a plush sofa and two armchairs surrounding an electric fireplace and a flatscreen TV mounted on the wall.

There are side double doors leading outside, which have wonderful views over the surrounding lodges and greenery.

All rooms have a light and minimal decor, which coincides with the outdoor rustic theme.

There is a small dining area with seating for up to four people, as well as a fitted kitchen with high-quality white cabinets and wooden worktops, packed with all the equipment you could need.

Along the hallway are two spacious bedrooms; one double with an en-suite shower room, and a twin.

Both bedrooms have top of the range wooden furniture and cupboards for storing your personal belongings.

There is a family bathroom with a luxurious bath, ideal for late night soaks.

The room has a similar neutral decor as the other rooms, however it also has an attractive blue tiling around the bathroom fittings, giving the room some character.

Off-road parking is available for two cars.

Dollar is not a place to be missed, as it is ideally located near various tourist attractions.

Castle Campbell, a medieval castle, was the lowland seat of the earls and dukes of Argyll from the 15th to the 19th century, and was visited by Mary Queen of Scots in the 16th century.

There are opportunities for sightseeing, walking, cycling and hill walking in the expansive local countryside, including Dollar Glen, found in the Ochils that dramatically mark the Highland fault.

Steeped in history, visit Clackmannan Tower, a five-storey tower house situated at the summit of King's Seat Hill.

The Wee Lodge is ideal for a couple or small family to enjoy the town and explore the local area.

About the location

DOLLAR

Tillicoultry 3 miles; Kinross 12 miles; Stirling 13 miles; Dunfermline 13 miles

Dollar sits at the foot of the Ochil Hills on the road between Stirling and St Andrews. The town is dramatically overlooked by the remains of Castle Campbell, also known as Castle Gloom, and has superb walks up the steep glen to the castle. The early life of the village was fulfilling the needs of the castle’s owners, the lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, until the castle was burned down in 1654 in retaliation for the Duke’s support for Cromwell. The village recovered in the 18th century with the opening of copper and lead mines in the surrounding hills and with subsequent ironworks enhancing its prosperity. With the opening of the prestigious Dollar Academy at the beginning of the 19th century, the village transformed into the attractive and prosperous town it is today. The town has a mix of shops and cafes and the drive or walk up the glen to the castle provides stunning views as the countryside opens out to the south. The popular tourist town of Stirling is 13 miles to the west with its dramatic castle and monument to William Wallace. Gleneagles and Perth are within easy reach, as is the Fife coast and St Andrews.
