  • "Fantastic holiday home in a very scenic location."

It certainly has the Wow factor - we were so happy when we first entered the lodge and saw the view! We even regretted being out so much since the lodge was so comfortable :) It is ideally positioned for exploring central Scotland.

Difficult when it's pitch black , pouring with rain and very late! A plan of the site would be very useful in finding the lodge in above conditions. Other than that 5 star

  • "This is an exceptional property set on the edge of a small loch The lodge itself gives every comfort, from the comfortable furniture in the living room, the fully equipped kitchen for the chef in the party, the comfortable bedrooms especially the huge double bed and the easy to use showers make this a home from home."

The views from the lodge are amazing, what with the wild life on the loch and the deer on the hillside. Although the weather was mixed Ptarmigan Lodge is certainly the place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet away from it all. Thanks to the owners for a lovely holiday.

The location was absolutely stunning . The lodge itself was amazing. Waking up to ducks quacking , birds chirping was wonderful. We will definitely be coming back. Thankyou for a wonderful holiday. Tracey and family.

  • "We (family of 5) enjoyed our stay at Ptarmigan Lodge very much."

The lodge is situated at a small pond ("private loch") and has a beautiful view over the mountains. It is a very quiet place. The lodge is nearly perfect. It is beautifully decorated, spacious with 3 bedrooms (with 3 separate bathrooms!!), has an excellent kitchen, and provides everything one needs and even more: e.g. there even was an apron and binoculars, books, games etc. not to mention a lot of information about the surroundings collected in 2 bands and flyers of attractions and hiking tours (very nice ones with water falls). The only slight downside was that the internet/wifi is not very good and pretty slow. At arrival, a welcoming postcard and a bottle of wine were waiting for us, which we really appreciated. We were sad that we had to leave the lodge after a week end would gladly return once upon a time.

Thanks Luuk. So pleased you enjoyed your time at Ptarmigan Lodge despite the Scottish weather! It is a very special place for us too. The internet can be patchy though it is due to be replaced with fibre fairly soon. It is always harder with bigger parties of guests for it to cope sadly. Sorry about that and we hope that we will see you again in the future. Best wishes Kate and Rod Property Owner

  • "The lodge is perfectly positioned on a tranquil Loch in amongst the most beautiful surrounding scenery and walks."

Nature is on the doorstep, mandarin ducks, swans and oyster catchers to name but a few, along with deer grazing on the opposite bank. The lodge has all the creature comforts you could wish for, and with the advantage of being able to view it all in the early morning from your bed! We were a party of six and had ample room for all.

Thank you very much for your lovely review Charlie. We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday at the lodge and feel recharged after a wee dose of wilderness Property Owner

  • "Wow ! The photos really don't do this lodge justice."

What a truly beautiful place to spend a holiday. The lodge is perfect in every way. Spacious, comfortable, warm, and beautifully decorated with top quality furnishings. The lodge sits on the front of a small lochan that hosts a variety of wildfowl. The view from the lodge is made even more beautiful by the rolling hills rising over the other side of the water . We saw deer grazing here every day . Just wonderful. Such a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, but not too far from the main towns and other places of interest. We had a fabulous time here and will definitely return. You all need to go ! Book it now ! Fantastic.

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed your time at Ptarmigan. We look forward to seeing you back at the lodge in the future. Best wishes . Kate and Rod Property Owner

A stunning property in the heart of Perthshire the surrounding area (20 miles in diameter) is well worthy of being one of Scotland's most scenic locations. The owners have created a quite outstanding property supremely well-resourced and very comfortable. The attention to detail is highly commended and Ptarmigan Lodge can easily be suited to both couples only and family groups. Abundant wildlife there is and plenty of upland walks to satisfy the more energetic. Appropriate footwear and clothing are essential. Highly recommended

Thank you very much for your great comments Stephen. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the lodge despite the dodgy Scottish weather! Glad you got to enjoy the best of the bird life around the lochan. Best wishes from Kate and Rod Property Owner

Hard to describe the lodge because everything was perfect. All we can say is it was beyond any expectation. Pictures don't convey the feeling of contentment of just being in Ptarmigan Lodge. Every detail considered, the most comfortable beds, ensuite bathrooms to accommodate all bedrooms, great kitchen. The list is endless. Forget the health SPA holiday book this lodge that's all you need! Also House of Bruar, pure Luxury, also don't miss a trip to Dunkeld.

About the location

ABERFELDY

Pitlochry 14 miles; Perth 31 miles.

The market town of Aberfeldy stands on the River Tay amidst beautiful scenery in rural Perthshire. Famous for its association with Burns and his poem The Birks Of Aberfeldy, and also the bridge built for General Wade in 1733, Aberfeldy is just south of Glen Lyon, known as the longest, loneliest, and loveliest glen in Scotland. There is much to attract the visitor in addition to the spectacular scenery. There is a 10 mile riverside walk for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as numerous paths through forest and countryside. In addition, Aberfeldy is on the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Route 7. Whitewater rafting on the River Tay is an exhilarating way to enjoy the scenery. Castle Menzies is a wonderful 16th century castle, now fully restored and open to visitors. Take a distillery tour at Dewar’s World of Whisky on the edge of town. Sample the many bars, restaurants and cafes in the town and explore the galleries and craft shops, including the Scottish Chocolate Centre. The Scottish Crannog Centre offers a glimpse into Iron Age life and Loch Tay offers a multitude of watersports, while Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park are on your doorstep. An hours drive brings you to 30 Munros, just waiting to be 'bagged'!
