“We loved our time here, it's a wonderful place for a family in a brilliant location.”

The online listing doesn't do justice to how big it is. The village is a short walk with a pub, hotel with harbour restaurant and warm, welcoming community. The local shop owner lent us his crabbing gear and defrosted bacon for us! The cottage has easy parking outside, a beautifully presented couple of bedrooms with comfortable beds, superb sea views and a spacious sitting room. The kitchen and dining room are separate but this isn't a problem. For children it's really safe and comfortable, all ...

The local shop owner lent us his crabbing gear and defrosted bacon for us! The cottage has easy parking outside, a beautifully presented couple of bedrooms with comfortable beds, superb sea views and a spacious sitting room. The kitchen and dining room are separate but this isn't a problem. For children it's really safe and comfortable, all on one level with steps into the garden and kitchen. We had an absolute ball here. You can walk to a playground, the beach, run on the dunes, visit the local library and of course visit the many lovely fishing villages around. I sound effusive because I can't quite believe a lock down far away booking exceeded our expectations so massively. I wish we lived closer to come back more frequently. I have shared the listing already with relatives living nearer!

About the location

LOWER LARGO

Leven 3 miles; Cupar 9 miles; St Andrews 11 miles.

Lower Largo is a small fishing village in a conservation area at the mouth of the River Keil on the Firth of Forth. The village was the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk who was reputed to be the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe. There is a statue of Selkirk in the village and the Crusoe Hotel also pays homage to the village’s famous son. Lower Largo is home to a local shop and a couple of pubs; however the focal point of the village has to be the pretty harbour and south facing beach. Just outside the village are three golf courses, whilst the home of golf at St Andrews is eleven miles away. Just a couple of miles from Lower Largo is the small town of Leven which has a good selection of shops and pubs. A pretty village in a delightful seaside location.
