The property

A delightful apartment in an end-terrace cottage situated just a few yards from the sea in the village of Lower Largo, just over two miles from the Fife seaside town of Leven and just eleven miles from St Andrews.

Set over the first and second floors, this apartment near St Andrews is an ideal base for a family holiday in a beautiful part of Scotland.

The first floor accommodation is made up of two bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a separate dining room.

Take the stairs up to the second floor where you will find a spacious sitting room with views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and beyond.

Down a flight of steps from the rear porch is the shared lawned garden which slopes upwards to what was once a railway line and is now the Fife Coastal Path, and just a few yards away is a superb sandy beach which is dog-friendly all year round.

Lower Largo is a beautiful little village with a history of fishing, and it was the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, thought to be the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe.

The village has a good-sized local shop, two dog-friendly pubs and is next to a number of links golf courses.

There are a number of popular towns dotted along the Firth of Forth, including Elie, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Crail and Dunfermline, and just eleven miles away is St Andrews, world-renowned as the home of golf, where you can enjoy a round on one of its championship courses, visit the British Golf Museum, or just wander around the historic university town.

About the location

Leven 3 miles; Cupar 9 miles; St Andrews 11 miles.

Lower Largo is a small fishing village in a conservation area at the mouth of the River Keil on the Firth of Forth. The village was the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk who was reputed to be the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe. There is a statue of Selkirk in the village and the Crusoe Hotel also pays homage to the village’s famous son. Lower Largo is home to a local shop and a couple of pubs; however the focal point of the village has to be the pretty harbour and south facing beach. Just outside the village are three golf courses, whilst the home of golf at St Andrews is eleven miles away. Just a couple of miles from Lower Largo is the small town of Leven which has a good selection of shops and pubs. A pretty village in a delightful seaside location.
