“The cottage was brilliant.”
I was worried it would be a tad small but it was like a tardis. All very modern with everything you need for a great holiday. We played golf 5 times at different courses and was a good base to come back to. Would definitely book again.
I was worried it would be a tad small but it was like a tardis. All very modern with everything you need for a great holiday. We played golf 5 times at different courses and was a good base to come back to. Would definitely book again.- Mrs Britteon, August 2020
“We had a great stay at Stewart Lodge Cottage.”
The communication beforehand from Eleanor was fantastic, and both she and Stuart were there when we arrived with a very friendly and warm welcome. The cottage itself was spacious, warm and very clean, with everything we could want. Eleanor very kindly toid us about the local bar/restaurant (Usige) and we visited there twice during our stay - would definitely recommend it. The cottage was very well situated and very handy for exploring Perthshire and beyond. The local train station is only a short drive away and has free parking so we had a couple of train trips as well. Will definitely be back !- Mr Spence, February 2020
“The cottage is amazing so well fitted everything is there for you.”
Stuart and Eleanor are perfect hosts who make you feel welcome the moment you arrive and nothing is to much trouble and the setting is beautiful.- Mr Litherland, December 2019
“Our hosts were fabulous,as is Stewart Lodge Cottage.”
This one of the reasons we stayed yet again at this cottage.- Mr Hepper, November 2019
“The cottage was situated in a lovely quiet area.”
The owners were nearby if anything was needed. The wood burning stove was an absolute delight and the instruction that were in the cottage made it very easy to use. The cottage was well equipped, especially the kitchen. the directions to the cottage were stop on and the walk to the store and bar/restaurant were only 5 minutes. An excellent holiday get away that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a central base for Perthshire and farther afield.- Ms Cormack, October 2019
“We arrived at the Cottage tired and expecting to have a nice peaceful break but no one informed us that the main highland train line adjoins the back garden, literally a few yards away from the house.”
Trains run through the night (goods trains as well as passenger trains) frequently and the noise and vibration upstairs at the cottage constantly waking us up in the night all week. This has resulted in us both feeling exhausted so to ommit such a vital piece of information is a major ommisssion from both the agency and the owners as this continual disturbance is far from the tranquililty boasted about this property. I enclose below your summary of the property direct from your website which clearly does not disclose a main train line adjoining the property boundary: Two king-size double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower, basin, WC and balcony Bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and WC Ground floor basin and WC Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove. Oil central heating with woodburning stove Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs Fuel, power and fuel for stove inc. in rent Bed linen and towels inc. in rent Travel cot, highchair and stairgate on request Ample off road parking Lockable bike storage Enclosed lawned garden with furniture Sorry, no pets and no smoking Shop and pub 2 mins walk Note: Mobile phone reception can be variable Note: Sloping ceilings in first floor rooms Note: A small section of the rear garden dips down steeply towards the hedge, and also due to the balcony with steps down to the garden, children must be supervised at all times.- Mr Smith, September 2019

The trains throughout the day are every 2 hours. If there is any planned work on the railway line we get notified by Network Rail and guests will be advised of this. Sykes owner relations

Well placed for Dunkeld, Crieff, Pitlochry and Aberfeldy. The cottage was immaculate and well equipped. A 5 minute walk led to the superb Usaige bar/restaurant. Lovely modern decor and good food and wine! The owners of the cottage, Stuart, Eleanor and the lovely shamrock the labrador were lovely, and made my mum, her friend and I all feel very at home. It was a very relaxing weekend, and we are hoping to come back. Rarely in my experience does a holiday cottage tick all the boxes. Stuarts Lodge certainly met all our expectations.- Ms Macnair, September 2018
“The location was great.”
It allowed us to explore various regions of Scotland within a day. The landlords were very welcoming and the cottage was comfortable (wonderful bed). It was close to the A9 and very quiet, expect for the train, passing by more or less often.- Mrs Walker, August 2018

Definitely a location we would be happy to visit again :)- Mrs Ward, July 2018
“After two very active and physically demanding weeks in the West of Scotland we needed to relax from or holiday we had so far.”
Stewarts Lodge Cottage was more than ideal for this: We spent some hours per day visiting local attractions (Scone Palace, Perth, Dundee, Loch Katrine, Queen's View, Loch Leven and many others) and always were looking forward to spend the evening hours in the cozy cottage. The altar of the house was the woodburner, which we used quite a lot. There were so many other brilliant features of the house which provided us a perfect week: The perfectly equipped kitchen, the comfy (hygge / gemuetlich) living room, the huge lawn with a table for having the breakfast coffee outside, all the little thoughtfully arranged things in the house, and, and, and... This place was created with lots of love! Last but not least, we appreciated the warm welcome of our hosts, Eleanor & Stuart, who did everything to make our stay as relaxing and happy as ist was. Thank you very much!- Mr Draeger, April 2018
“Stewarts Lodge was our first booking with Sykes as all our other cottages and lodges have been with Hoseasons The cottage was the best quality accommodation we’ve ever booked which is saying something !”
There was no expense spared on the facilities and we were personally made very welcome by the owners We know Scotland pretty well but not this area and there’s lots of things to do and lovely walks abound It’s really great too having a good bar / restaurant and excellent shop both within walking distance All in all a very satisfied customer- Mr Smith, April 2018
“Finding the cottage was a little tricky using the SatNav as it tried to send us down a road that has been closed off, and it's quite a mazy little estate to drive through to find The Avenue first time around.”
But, for us, the wait was worth it as the cottage was delightful in every way. It's location is in a new/recent build (and very pleasant) housing estate, but at the same time well hidden from it at the end of a longish tree lined avenue. On arrival, you are made to feel very welcome, which, after a long drive, is always nice. The cottage had more than enough facilities for the two of us, and in that respect is very well thought out, with the "modern" holidaymaker in mind. The internet works perfectly, something ever increasingly necessary for today's travellers. We found that everything we needed was in situ. As experienced visitors to Scotland, it is also important to point out that the village is located where you can easily travel all points of the compass, without particularly having to use the same roads for too long. The A9 is an important artery route, but so much can be seen away from the A9 too, particularly to the East and West. No review would be complete, or fair, without mentioning a "negative". Whilst, most of the time, the area immediately surrounding the cottage is extremely peaceful, I imagine that some people might not like the fact that a main line railway is at the back of the cottage. The truth is that there appear to be two trains per hour that pass the cottage, and the "noise" lasts for about three seconds. It never bothered us for a moment, and it would certainly not prevent us from returning to the cottage. A five star holiday cottage for us.- Mrs Burton, March 2018
“Stewarts Lodge Cottage is in a lovely peaceful location.”
The cottage itself is so well equipped and the owners were helpful and approachable. We found it in a great central location to many attractions and would love to stay there again!- Graves, July 2017

The location makes a good base for visiting Perthshire and surrounding areas, and it is a real pleasure to come back to Stewart Lodge Cottage in the evening. I would heartily recommend this property.- Mrs Hodge, June 2017

About the location
Blairgowrie 12 miles; Pitlochry 13 miles; Perth 14 miles.
The River Tay flows through the small town of Dunkeld and there are plenty of places to enjoy the views, either from the cathedral gardens or from the Taybank bar where you might be lucky enough to hear some impromptu music performed. The town itself dates from the 9th century and boasts a wealth of history from the Dark and Middle Ages to more recent history with Thomas Telford’s bridge over the Tay. The forests surrounding Dunkeld and nearby Birnam are known as Perthshire Big Tree Country and are celebrated in Shakespeare’s “Scottish Play”. The Hermitage is a National Trust site of beautiful forest which contains Ossian’s Hall of Mirrors, a folly built as a tribute to the 3rd century blind poet Ossian on a rocky outcrop near the Black Linn waterfalls. With the Loch Of The Lowes nature Reserve nearby and also the Victorian village of Birnam with its famous Birnam Oak and a Beatrix Potter exhibition marking her regular visits to the village, this area is one of the most spectacular and varied in Scotland and well worth a visit.
