  • "We had a lovely week at Isla cottage."

The cottage was so clean, well equipped and comfortable. Beds very comfy. The owners were very helpful in allowing us to store our bikes in the garage. Although the weather wasn’t in our favour the cottage was central for visits to Alyth, Dundee Discovery Point, Dunkeld and Loch of Lowes. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "Lovely little bungalow in a lovely area of Blairgowrie."

Very quiet with the occasional red squirrel around. Plenty restaurants locally and would recommend The Dalmore Inn for excellent food. Also handy for golfers with The Blairgowrie Golf Club close by and several others only a 15-30 minute drive away. Also only a short drive away from many other Perthshire attractions. The cottage itself lacks for nothing

    Good food and luvly walks.

  • "Lovely comfortable well decorated property."

Unfortunately the week we were there was very cold and had to ask for heating to be put on which was no problem, could have done with a fan heater in between the timed central heating.

  • "The property was warm and well situated close to some great places to visit."

The family enjoyed a good week visiting Dunkeld, Aberfeldy and Dundee. Bike storage was available in the garage... which is a real bonus for cyclists as this is not usually available at properties! Plenty of facilities within the house for a comfortable stay. Only disappointments were the amount of dog hairs on the throws on the sofa, hairs under the sofas and also the 'smart tv'... a basic smart TV is a minimum in a property these days, especially when listed. This TV couldn't even load iplayer! We don't watch a lot of telly, but being stuck to terrestrial is a bit out of date! Despite the above, we would happily stay again! Just bring a fire stick! We would recommend the Birks of Aberfeldy walk whilst visiting. Lots of facilities within the town. The neighbourhood is very quiet so far for a family break.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the throws should not have been on the settees during your stay, as they are only put on when visitors stay bring pets. Regarding the TV, this is the first time it has been bought to our attention. I am very happy that you would like to stay again. Property Owner

  • "This holiday cottage is a lovely spacious bungalow in a quiet cul-de-sac."

It was clean but lacks a lot of touches that we have always had in previous cottages. On telephoning the owner regarding the keys I was made aware that the dishwasher was broken, as I do not own a dishwasher I was not concerned regarding this, however, I was not advised to take a dishcloth, fortunately I had taken one along with tea towels as mentioned in the facilities provided also there were no cleaning produce i.e. bleach or Cif type cleaner. The pedal bin in the kitchen was only the size normally found in the bathroom and no where near big enough for a kitchen - no bin liners provided either. We made a trip to Tesco which is about 2 miles away to stock up on these things. The toaster had not been cleaned and was full of crumbs, and in the bread bin there was a crust of bread and a loaf of bread that was 3 days out of use. In other cottages we have stayed in there has always been a fresh carton of milk in the fridge but NOT at Isla Cottage again fortunately we had taken some. The lighting in the lounge is inadequate, there is one centre light and one table lamp both with 7 watt low energy bulbs making it impossible to read in the evening. In the bathroom there is NO shaver point or mirror over the washbasin to shave with. Finally, the outside bin for general rubbish was full to bursting obviously never been emptied for a while. There should be someone appointed to put out the rubbish bins on the appropriate days.

  • "The bungalow is perfect!"

It's furnishings are of exceptional quality, and it is comfy, cosy and a real home from home. The layout is wonderful and it has such a good, peaceful 'feel' to it. The cul-de-sac in which it is located is quiet and everyone we met was incredibly friendly.

About the location

BLAIRGOWRIE

Kirriemuir 12 miles; Dundee 12 miles; Perth 19 miles.

The red sandstone town of Blairgowrie is situated on the bank of the river Ericht, where it emerges from spectacular gorges in Strathmore. With good shops, great restaurants and coffee bars, it makes an excellent town to start exploring Perthshire and the beautiful Angus Glens. Surrounded by rolling fields, famed for their berries, the town is overlooked by hills and mountains, and is the main link to Scotlands largest ski centre at Glenshee. The surrounding countryside is the perfect terrain for horse riding, cycling, mountain biking and hill walking, whilst golfers are well-catered for with several excellent courses (including Rosemount) locally. Gleneagles and championship courses of Carnoustie and St Andrews are also within easy reach. Marvel at the world’s tallest beech hedge at Meikleour (600m long and 30m high), see Meigle’s collection of Pictish sculpted stones, or listen to stirring tales at Glamis Castle, the setting for Macbeth and said to be Scotlands most haunted castle! The small town of Dunkeld is also worth a visit with its historic cathedral, riverside walks, impressive trees, such as the Birnam Oak and parent Larches of Dunkeld, and the Hermitage, which offers breath-taking waterfalls. Abundant wildlife frequent the many surrounding woodlands, from red squirrels, foxes and deer to Swifts, Goldcrests and Buzzards, with breeding Ospreys seen at nearby Loch of the Lowes.
