  • "Our second visit to Law Cottage."

  • "We had a lovely week in Law Cottage."

The location is extremely peaceful and the enclosed garden with woodland and golf course beyond just beautiful. The house itself was very comfortable, clean and fresh feeling, and well equipped with kitchen and laundry items. The mattress on the super king bed was especially comfy. The owners, Sylvia and David, were very helpful but not in the least intrusive and made us feel very welcome in their property. A couple of extra things I would have appreciated are a wall mirror in the main bedroom close to the electric socket (for hair drying) and guidance on the recycling/bins (what should go in which bin). We would most definitely return to Law Cottage and recommend it to others.

  • "Spent a lovely two weeks at Law Cottage."

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped but what made the cottage special was the amazing outside area. We ate breakfast most days on the patio outside the kitchen and we managed to have several barbecues too. We enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds and even saw a deer just outside the garden fence one day and the dog certainly enjoyed the space the garden offered. A lovely location.

The floor joins could be easily tripped over. Shower in the bath not suitable for elderly getting in and out. No slip mat for the shower .A delightful cottage ,great to view wildlife from. Ideal for dogs. Plenty outdoor seating. Would go again.

  • "It is hard to sum up Law Cottage; it is not just a property, it is a warm, cosy, bolthole for an amazing array of wildlife which literally dance past the windows and doors across a marvelous vista."

The cottage is well situated for access across Scotland's well known areas, the hosts have provided everything you could need to live comfortably. Each room has bright views to the wildlife and scenery beyond. The bed is large and suited us with dodgy backs perfectly. Bedding was brought to us as a change as we stayed for 2 weeks. Towels were provided. Heating was efficient and there was the option of woodburner to use with logs. Even bird/squirrel food was provided and we filled up the numerous feeders every other day to encourage more wildlife. The bathroom is just right size with an over bath shower which provides lovely hot water and a good sized bath for a soak. We had a lovely welcome pack which was generous. The owners are nearby and popped in to check on us and make sure all was well. The garden, like others said, does have a combination of ranch style and full fencing and most of it does have a dog-sized gap so inquisitive dogs could get out, but it does allow the red squirrels to run up, under and in and out freely. It is hard to know how to satisfy some of the reviewers concerns about the fencing other than perhaps running a wire around the bottom gap? However, I have to say, once our dogs learned the boundary they didn't bother and the garden was far too big and exciting to play in to bother going beyond, but then we had amazing weather and sat out, following the sun around the property so our dogs weren't left out alone for any long periods of time. The choice of outside seating is amazing, I bet it is stunning in the official summer months! We did as suggested and had a Tesco food order arrive at the start of our holiday and I would say that they must've had a change of staff as they had to ring us to find the property and get directions...not a big deal, just make sure you keep your instructions to hand! Our driver was going to tell his new colleagues for future reference though so hopefully you will be ok! The TV can access your Netflix account, so just remember your details, there were DVDs and books and games a plenty. Lots of plug points was so handy as we could keep cameras on charge while still using them! The bird guide is a really helpful touch for those of us who didn't know what we were seeing initially! An amazing variety of garden birds, golden eagles, red squirrels and more on the doorstep. Thank you for sharing such a special place with us.

  • "Very spacious accommodation & grounds which were great for the dogs to run around & great porch area to feed dogs in & dry them off in before coming into cottage."

Plenty of storage in kitchen & bedrooms. Lovely, quiet area and very private yet only about 15 mins away from Perth.

  • "This is a lovely cottage with a large, beautiful, well managed garden where squirrels and birds visit endlessly."

We even had hedgehogs. The cottage is ideal for dogs with it's complete wooden floor and a front door porch, ideal for drying wet dogs and storing all their bits and bobs. The bed is wonderfully comfortable and the heating system so easy to work. A big plus for me! Actually, everything was simple ie cooker, microwave, log burner. Again a big plus for me. Sylvia and David were lovely and very helpful, visiting with their two border collies and the bottle of wine and shortbread were much appreciated. My only resson for not giving the property a 5 star rating for us was the lack of security for the dogs in the garden. As the garden is not secure we were unable to enjoy the patios and garden to the level we would have liked. There is a secure "paddock" area but access to this is not directly from the house which is a shame as it was perfect for two dogs. Otherwise this is a cottage in a wonderfully peaceful area which we would have loved to visit again if not for the lack of security for dogs

  • "The property is in a lovely location."

Very quiet. This was also the first property we have stayed in which had softer bed so we slept like logs. We look for properties away from everything. If you want to go out to eat its a two mile drive but perfect for us but booking for restaurants is advised We slo became obsessed with the red squirrels in the garden, so much fun to watch

Quiet peaceful setting yet close enough to Crieff and Perth for activities and shopping. Clean, tidy and well equipped cottage. A lovely garden which encircles the cottage with lots of walks, bird and squirrel watching. Everything you require for great self catering break. The welcome hamper with biccies, wine, cleaning materials etc was a lovely thought. Sylvia was in touch with us beforehand to ensure the rooms were made up to our liking. She also gave us some info on dog friendly places in the area. Telephoned us after check in to make sure everything was to our liking. David popped by to check we had all we needed mid week. Wonderful hosts. I would highly reccomend the cottage and hosts here at law cottage. We hope to return in the future, booking dates allowing.

  • "The cottage was amazing!"

The children really enjoyed the garden, especially filling up the bird and squirrel feeders every morning. The items we brought to entertain them were left untouched as they spent the whole time exploring the garden and the woodland beyond it, even when the weather was not the greatest. The kitchen was well stocked so we managed to cook all our meals with ease. We hope to enjoy this cottage every year. Thank you for a very enjoyable holiday.

  • "The cottage is so comfortable and has everything you would need for a perfect holiday."

The open fire in the livingroom was so cosy and the beds are incredibly comfy. We loved the massive garden and being surrounded by a forest. It was the perfect place to enjoy a BBQ and toasting marshmallows on the fire pit. We saw red squirrels, deer, frogs and lots of birds cane to visit the garden. It was completely secluded but right next to an amazing forest walk on one side and a golf course on the other. We cycled through the quiet roads and visited Willowgate ActIvity Centre for a kayaking tour for my husband and I while our son took part in a full day of fun! We went fishing on the River Almond and visited a stocked fishery that was only a half hour away. It’s a very special place and we can’t wait to return one day! Thank you Sylvia and David for being such perfect hosts.

The property

Law Cottage is in an exceptional location to cycle routes and to the secluded immersion into nature.

It has over half an acre of enclosed garden immediately adjacent to a James Braid golf course where we have a relationship which will allow playing access at modest course charges.

With Gleneagles within a 35 minute drive, the cottage provides an ideal base for keen golfers.

Alternatively, for cyclists, there is immediate access to Perthshire’s road cycle trails.

There is a large porch for wet clothes.

The property offers complete relaxation but is within a 20 minute drive of Perth to the east and Crieff to the west.

Walk to the other side of the cottage and there are forest paths.

Deer and red-squirrels are regular visitors to the garden and there is a salmon ladder within 3 miles on the River Almond.

Nature photographers and bird-watchers will love the place, but everyone could appreciate the calm of sitting on the patio and listening to bird song.

There are ten nature photographs by Rosanna Forbes displayed on the walls, each taken within half-mile of the cottage.

There are no immediate neighbours but the cottage has fast internet access and Tesco delivery is possible.

The accommodation comfortably sleeps four in three bedrooms and is serviced by a well-equipped kitchen.

The sitting room is a beautiful room: light, airy and with panoramic views of the garden from three sides.

The room catches the sun most of the day but a log stove makes the room perfectly warm and welcoming.

Law Cottage is a wonderful base for both families and groups of friends on an activity holiday.

Nestled between the Tay Forest Park and the Trossachs National Park, it is also close to the amenities and attractions of Perth and Crieff, including the Glenturret Distillery.
