  • "What a little bolthole Fordie West was!"

A gorgeous and very spacious little cottage with all the equipment and amenities you're going to need. We thoroughly loved our stay at Fordie West, only a 10 minute drive to nearby Crieff and an hour from Pitlochry and the entry to the Cairngorms. The views from the front of the estate are glorious. Our only negative feedback would be that furniture wasn't the comfiest but this is personal preference. Other than this it was perfect and we'll definitely consider coming back if we're in the area again. Thank you to Sheelagh and the team for this special little spot.

  • "We had a wonderful stay in this warm, spacious cottage."

The towels were a lovely quality. The beds were comfortable. The location was peaceful with lovely scenery. The only thing we missed was a full length mirror. My husband even managed to see a red squirrel as it scrambled up a tree. Would highly recommend.

  • "We had an amazing stay at this cottage and will definitely be back."

Everything is spotless clean and the cottage is very well maintained. Showers were powerful and all rooms decorated beautifully, kitchen well equipped and has everything you need. The table in the living is a little wobbly! If I had a minor gripe it would be great to have blinds in the bedrooms as the curtains didn’t close fully and was very bright early in the morning. All very minor points as loved our stay here and the area is beautiful for walks and exploring. Thank you!

  • "Cottage was great."

The location was great The decor was great The only slight down point is there was no cooker. Thank you for a great week in the cottage

Hello there Jim, Thank you so much for your very positive review as regards West Cottage. It was lovely to have a chat with you both during your stay, and we are delighted that you enjoyed your time here on the beautiful Fordie Estate, and thank you so much for leaving the property as neat as a pin! We completely take on board the lack of a "full" cooker in the Cottage. However this is something that is earmarked to happen, hopefully very soon. We have been waiting for SSE to isolate our power supplies, and once this work is completed we can go ahead and look into fitting a full electric cooker into the cottage. We would love to welcome you back again next year so you will be able to utilise it! Many thanks once again, take care till then. About the location

COMRIE

Crieff 7 miles; Gleneagles 16 miles; Perth 24 miles.

The affluent highland Perthshire village of Comrie is named from the Gaelic word conruith meaning 'a place where rivers meet' and is appropriate as the village sits at the confluence of three rivers which eventually feed into the Tay. There are numerous standing stones and archaeological remains in the area, suggesting this area was inhabited in prehistoric times. Comrie’s early prosperity came from weaving and its position on the droving route from the Highlands to lowland Scotland and England. Today’s village benefits from wildlife and adventure tourism as its location makes it ideal for exploring the mountains and lochs that surround it, plus tourist attractions include Earthquake House and Auchingarrich Wildlife Park. A few miles outside of Comrie towards Dunira is the Dalchonzie Fruit Farm which sells fruit, vegetables, jams and pickles, meat, free range eggs, and ice-cream. Comrie Golf Course tea room is open to all at the edge of the village towards Crieff. The attractive town of Crieff is only six miles to the east and its many shops, bars and cafes make it well worth a visit, and for the golf enthusiast, Gleneagles is only a short drive away. Other places well worth a visit include the Glenturret Distillery and Drummond Castle Gardens, plus the village of Killin and town of Aberfeldy are also within driving distance.
