  • "A very comfortable property with an eclectic standard of decoration."

    Parking was very good on street. Was able to park outside the house every day. The garden is EXTREMELY steep - I didn't attempt it at all (though you can drive round the back). Dunbar is an attractive location with lots of facilities

  • "The house was unique and very comfortable."

    Had great sleeps in beds and the couches in living room were very comfortable too. We didn’t get the opportunity to sit outside but it would have been great in the summer - great views. We had our dog with us so it was a bit tricky for us to see her if she needed out as the kitchen door is through the hall, into the dining room and then into the kitchen. Not a fault at all, just worth a mention if your dog is like ours. One little thing, more crockery would be helpful along with more glasses. Great house with lots of character and so close to everything with free parking. What’s not to love?

  • "Second time of staying at 8 Bowmont Terrace."

    This time without a car to get around. House just as wonderful only downside are the steep steps to take the bin out. Comfortable beds as always. Very easy to use public transport to get into Edinburgh, Berwick upon Tweed and local towns. 10 minute walk to the railway station and everything literally on the doorstep. Good meals to be had across the road and if you let them know the night before what you want to eat there's a cooked breakfast at 10 am. I am missing the house and sea views already.

    Breakfast views every morning were stunning! The house was located close to the beach and to the town centre. On street parking was always available right outside and the house was equipped with everything you might need. We had a wonderful stay, thank you.

  • "The house was lovely, in a great position overlooking the sea and a short walk into the History seeped town."

    The interior was well furnished and the decor was very interesting and attractive, especially the Indian style fancy lamps. Only down side was that the lighting; though atmospheric, was not good for reading by!

  • "A wonderful stay in an extremely well equipped house."

    Very close to local amenities and the town. The only concern we had was that owing to my Husband being over 6 foot it was a bit awkward for him using the shower due to the slope of the ceiling but he managed. The beds were extremely comfortable with different choices of pillows to use. It was very nice to receive a welcome pack of milk, cereal, fruit and wine. Which was much appreciated after a long drive. We would definitely stay at this property again. I think it would also be ideally situated for those who didn't drive as there was a good express bus service to Edinburgh as well as the rail station just around the corner linking Dunbar to North Berwick and Edinburgh ( preferable to parking in Edinburgh).

  • "We had a wonderful week staying in this quirky house."

    The view from the dining room & back bedroom are beyond amazing. The house is cosy, welcoming & comfortable. We never had any issues parking. The information for the house was clear & concise. The welcome treats were much appreciated. We took our 2 pups - it is always so lovely to stay in a house that feels really dog friendly. The balcony was great - the steps down the (very steep) garden weren't for me, but we knew in advance they were a bit of a white knuckle ride! Dunbar & surrounding area is fabulous. We can't wait to go back.

  • "I have never in over 20 years of staying in holiday cottages around the country stayed in such a dirty place."

    You could write your name in the dust. ( I have pictures if you require them) All the carpets have marks on them. The kitchen extractor fan was full of grease. Food bin was full of food. There was astro turf as a bathroom carpet. I am speechless . Very disappointed. Paid a high price for sub standard accommodation.

    Loved all the colour, the nods to travel and a little bit of quirkiness! Views from bedroom and dinning room were so wonderful and restorative. Very well equipped and beds super comfortable, loads of warm water and generosity oozing! Thank you! Lovely walks straight out the door and surrounding areas. A wonderful find.

  • "Very happy with 8 Bowmont Terrace."

    The only reason we have not given full score for accuracy of listing is due to the back garden not being fully secure, not an issue this time with our dog but had rest of party come as originally intended with escapologist dog it would have been. We really enjoyed our stay, the house is lovely and spacious and we felt at home very quickly, there was no problem parking on street, sea view to rear of house was good, there was everything we needed in the house for practicalities and comfort, and we very much appreciated the food and drink awaiting us on our arrival. Thank you for a relaxing holiday in sunny Dunny

  • "What a lovely place to stay!"

    Every little thing is laid on to make your stay enjoyable and easy from shower gel and soap and plentiful loo roll to milk in the fridge, and bottles of delicious quality wine. The decor is fascinating reflecting the owner's extensive travels and the location is close to the town and beaches. My tiny dogs were small enough to escape through the back garden gate though but they didn't get far! Recommend this unusual and comfortable home.

The property

Situated on a main road in the thriving coastal town of Dunbar, in the East Lothian area of Scotland, is this three-storey, terraced property, 8 Bowmont Terrace.

Offering spacious living accommodation for four, this property is ideal for a couple or small family looking to explore East Lothian and the South East coast, while the city of Edinburgh is also within easy reach.

With ample parking available for free in front of the property, head up the path to the eye-catching yellow front door and into a small porch, where you can store coats and shoes.

From here, move into the sitting room, where you can enjoy relaxing on either of the leather sofas and turning on the TV to find your favourite show, or just simply discussing your upcoming plans for your stay.

The dining room has seating for four, in front of a picture window, showcasing incredible views out to sea, while the contemporary, light and bright kitchen has all of the modern conveniences you'll need to create delicious meals during your stay.

Upstairs is a bathroom with shower over bath and Velux window offering a glimpse of the outside world, while the second floor houses the two double bedrooms, both spacious and offering lots of storage, while the back bedroom proudly displays those incredible sea views.

Outside, there is a small patio with furniture and a barbecue, ideal to take advantage of during the summer months, while a steep set of steps will take you down to the enclosed lawn, which has its own orchard.

Dunbar has many amenities and attractions to enjoy, including pubs, shops, restaurants, cafés, the John Muir Park & Museum, birthplace and former home of the famous naturalist, a sandy beach with a harbour, which is home to the Medieval fortress of Dunbar Castle.

There are two sets of golf clubs thoughtfully provided for you if you want to try your hand at golfing during your stay here, as there are 19 golf courses to choose from, including The Open Championship course at Muirfield.

Also nearby, Cockburnspath lies on the Eastern end of the Southern Upland Way, a long-distance footpath that stretches from the West to East coast, a wonderful way to enjoy the Scottish coastline on foot.

Visit the fishing village of St Abbs, where you can enjoy incredible diving opportunities, and explore St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve, located on a dramatic cliff-top, where dolphin and puffin spotting occurs regularly.

A short drive or train journey North from nearby Dunbar Station will take you to the vibrant city of Edinburgh, while Berwick-upon-Tweed and Lindisfarne are a short drive south.
