Its was so cosy and homely. Surrounded by fields it was so peaceful and relaxing which exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely recommend.
"Netherraw cottage is an outstanding property, the photos do not do it justice."
Idyllic location with the only sounds of the birds and the sheep, simply perfect for a peaceful relaxing break. Great location for Kielder, walking and cycling. The owner goes above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly. Our miniature schnauzer loved her stay too! Thank you. Highly recommend this property and would love to return again soon.
"2nd visit, lovely place."
"What an amazing property - perfect tranquillity in the middle of no-where."
"A beautiful cottage."
Very comfortable and we had a great week here. The hot tub was such a treat.
"We had a lovely holiday at Netherraw."
The cottage was well equipped and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. We all slept well, thanks in part to the cotton bed linen and soft, cosy pillows and duvets. Loved the hot tub! The cottage is well placed to explore the history of the Scottish borders, with many castles, stately homes and abbeys to visit.
"What a fantastic holiday!"
! Netherraw is a wonderful cottage, I really don’t think the photos do it justice! Everything is top quality from the bed linen to the velvet sofas. We had such a relaxing time, our batteries are fully recharged. Newcastleton is a lovely little town with a great pub and cafes. There’s plenty of walks in the area and we saw plenty of red deer. Would highly recommend!
Managed to catch a sunny day so the hot tub looking into fields and wooodland is just an absolute treat. Comfiest bed ever. We had the best time and had everything we needed. We didn’t realise that Hermitage Castle is only a couple of miles away so felt we had totally secured a gem of a stay! Would highly recommend and will be back if we visit the Borders again. Thank you
"We stayed here 4 years ago and have been trying to get back - we finally managed to get booked in and loved every minute of our stay - it is such a lovely cottage - the owner has thought of everything and more - and the booking site has everything easy to follow."

"We throughly enjoyed our stay at Netherraw, the cottage was first class."
It was lovely to come back after a days walking to a warm comfortable cottage, especially when we had been walking in snow. The electric shower was fantastic a definite power shower and the wi-if was great the speed was exceptional. Absolutely no complaints from us or the dogs who patiently sat in the garden waiting for something to come along the road which was not very often! A truly peaceful and tranquil area pass our thanks onto your cleaner as she does a brilliant job, the place was spotless.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. So pleased you enjoyed the cottage. Property Owner

Very rural and perfect for a getaway from it all break. Lots of room, good WiFi, plenty of extras. Comfortable beds, fluffy towels and a great enclosed hot tub and garden. Perfect for families, children and dogs. Lots of lovely walks, plenty of places to visit, castles, museums and parks. Nearby shops cater for basic needs and lovely coffee.

Great communication with owners. Will be looking to book again.
"This is a unique and well equipped holiday home."
We really enjoyed our stay in the Borders and would happily return to this property. We could not use the hot tub as it was broken, through no fault of the owner. Although disappointed, we were happy with how this was dealt with. We loved visiting the surrounding area and found everyone to be friendly and hospitable. We will book again.
Thanks for you kind feedback and your understanding on the hot tub which was fixed after your visit. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner
"We found Netherraw to be a clean and spacious cottage which stands alone four miles north of Newcastleton."
The ideal place to get away from it all, or as a base to explore the attractions of the borders region.

"We had an amazing new year staying at Netherraw cottage."
There's plenty of hikes in the surrounding area and the cottage itself is cosy and beautiful, with a fab hot tub. The owner is lovely, really good at getting back to you and very helpful.
"We had a brilliant stay over Christmas, we didn’t want to leave."
Cottage was absolutely spotless. Hot tub was a real hit too. Couldn’t fault the place at all. Photos don’t do it justice.
"A remote cottage with lovely countryside views ideal location for walking and site seeing."
Didn't make use of the hot tub as its winter. Lovely butchers in village just a few minutes drive away. Comfy beds and snuggly duvets. Relaxing stay catching up with family and friends who live locally.
"Second time to this property and not disappointed had a great stay home from home"
"Unfortunately we had double car trouble causing us to arrive a day late and leave a day earlier than planned BUT its a lovely cottage, very homely & peaceful."
Lovely to relax in the hot tub. Bed soooo comfy. When we did contact the owner, they always tried to help as much as possible. Definately one to go back to!
"The cottage is very well kept, facilities within the cottage are ideal, all necessities were readily available, all we had to do was do a food shop."
The hot tub was brilliant, well maintained. The closest village is Newcastleton where you will find a well stocked spar and there is a couple do hotels that do food and a lovely Cafe. Your nearest bigger town is a half hour drive to Hawick. If your looking for somewhere remote and to just chill out and enjoy your own company it’s perfect.
"We have visited Netherraw for three years running however, sadly this will be the last time."
As a positive if you want isolation and great night skies and walks on your doorstep, Netherraw is perfect. There is hardly any noise, so you can hear the wildlife all around you. The upstairs bedrooms now have hangers for your clothes and ample drawer space. Sadly, the negatives we found were numerous. The shower basin easily flooded and water spilled over on to the floor. The only way to avoid this was to turn the shower on get wet, turn the shower off, lather up and then rinse off. Which isn't what you expect to do. This was raised last year when we came, but nothing has been done, in fact it is worse. The extractor fan isn't strong enough to cope with the steam in the shower room, so we had to leave the door open for it to escape. Not ideal but thankfully there was only the two of us. The toilet seat in the shower room, the laminate is cracked underneath and looks like it would soon start to peel off. The hot tube was part of the attraction of going to Netherraw, especially after long walks. On the second day we removed the hot tubs cover only to find that the headrests were damaged through wear and tear, their coverings were cracked and in some places none existent exposing the foam/cushioning underneath - so we decided not to use it. The overall feeling for us was that through usage the cottage just needs a bit of TLC.

About the location
Hawick 21 miles; Carlisle 24 miles.
The village of Newcastleton, sits just a few miles from the border of Scotland with England, in the Liddesdale Valley. It was founded in 1793 by the Duke of Buccleuch ('Buckloo’) and is also known as Copshaw Holm, or The Holm. Founded to create a centre for the weaving trade in the area, over time, Newcastleton attracted other trades including farmers, carpenters and shoe makers. Further development occurred with the arrival of the railway in the late 1800s, when the famous Waverley Line journeyed from Edinburgh to Carlisle. Historically a region of strife dating from the arrival of the Romans in the 1st century, the subsequent Norman invasion and the cross border battles between English and Scots, Liddesdale is at the centre of what was known as The Debatable Lands. The village today is little changed, and is famous for the nearby Hermitage Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots met her secret lover the 4th Earl of Boswell, and the ruin offers an imposing and spectacular sight filled with intrigue. The village is also popular with tourists due to its range of outdoor activities, which include mountain biking on the 7stanes trails, fishing, walking, wildlife watching, and an outdoor adventure centre. A vibrant and exciting holiday destination for all the family.
