Millrace is in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the very edge of the nature reserve. It could not be better placed for scenic and relatively gentle walks from the doorstep. The property is well equipped and the hosts unobtrusive whilst politely helpful in all aspects and just a text away. The property is exceptional in that it allows 4 dogs (we had 3). It is worth commenting that these are only allowed on the ground floor and the sitting area is on the first floor, so if you want your doggie family sat with you, for example, in an evening in front of a log fire, you could be disappointed with this arrangement. Our dogs were so tired after a day of walking they objected not at all to having their own space downstairs and it's not as if downstairs was without a TV and other seating facilities in the conservatory. The house is on a single track lane with an open aspect but private and sunny garden which overlooks the sea. The garden is dog proofed, or sheep proofed, depending which side you are on! But we felt it sensible to never let them out in the garden unsupervised with such an overwhelming presence of tempting sheep and lambs for them to take interest in. We enjoy wildlife and were not failed with excellent dolphin sightings, hares, a fantastic raucous rook roost and the sea bird colony within easy walking distance. The nearby loch and pretty flora were a delight, and Coldingham beach, 10 min walk away, was one of the cleanest beaches we have ever been on. We would definitely choose to go back and feel we found a gem of a place!
