“Rocklyn is a comfortable, peaceful cottage to stay in.”

The lounge suite and beds are comfy and the rooms are a good size. The stairs are steep but there is a double bedroom downstairs. The owner is helpful and friendly without being intrusive. It is so well placed for popping out for a walk along the coastal path, or down to the harbour or along the road to the walk along the cliff tops as far as you want to go. ...

It is so well placed for popping out for a walk along the coastal path, or down to the harbour or along the road to the walk along the cliff tops as far as you want to go. St Abbs has 2 lovely coffee shops with yummy baking you can take away (we didn't have meals in either), a small shop with a friendly owner and an interesting visitor centre with friendly staff, A sandy beach nearby and a wonderful rocky shoreline to watch the sea and explore, a harbour from where you can have a boat ride or for the adventurous - a diving experience.

The property

A delightful, semi-detached, traditional stone-built fisherman's cottage, a very special retreat for nature lovers, in a wonderful position in St. Abbs, close to the St. Abb's Head National Nature Reserve.

This cosy cottage provides comfortable, welcoming accommodation, including three bedrooms, a fitted kitchen with dining area, and a sitting room with an open fire.

There is a small step to enter the property. The cottage is just a few minutes' walk from the sea, with the coastal path on the doorstep, and is a great base for walking, cycling or touring this lovely area.

While this cottage makes a wonderfully peaceful retreat, the A1 is just 4 miles away, giving excellent access to the Scottish Borders and the Northumberland Coast.

Boat trips and fishing are also available locally, while the walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Holy Island and the landscapes of the Cheviots are all an easy drive away from this cottage.

About the location

ST ABBS

Berwick-upon-Tweed 11 miles; Edinburgh 49 miles.

Just over the Border into Scotland, St Abbs is a picturesque fishing village with a delightful harbour and fishermen's cottages hugging the hillside, situated on a beautiful stretch of Berwickshire coastline. Diving can be enjoyed from the harbour, while the nearby St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve has a rich variety of wildlife and is a paradise for birdwatchers! An ideal location for walks - the Cheviots, Scottish Borders and the spectacular coastline all offer excellent walking. There is a safe, sandy beach 3 miles away in nearby Coldingham, which is very popular with surfers. The historic fortified Border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, with shops, a museum and a castle, is nearby, and is well worth a visit. Holy Island, the Farne Islands, the attractive seaside villages of Craster, Eyemouth and Seahouses, and Edinburgh, capital city of Scotland, are all within touring distance.
