  • "Hello, this is Bing."

I can help you improve your message. Here is a possible revision: I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage in St. Abbs, on the Scottish borders. The cottage was spotless and cosy, with everything I could need. It felt like a home away from home. The cottage was surrounded by stunning views that added to the tranquillity of the place. I loved waking up to the scenic landscapes of the Scottish borders. The owner had a great eye for detail in the well-kept interior and the fun games they provided. The best part, though, was the warm hospitality of the owner. They were friendly and helpful, making sure I had a comfortable stay. I will never forget their kindness. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent amenities and a touch of Scottish charm.

It’s spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen good shower and a comfy double bed. But it’s the views and the wildlife that provide the magic. We were surrounded by gulls, swifts, garden birds and rabbits. We saw regular murmurations and were treated to a pod of dolphins on our last night. We definitely left our hearts in St Abbs, a wonderful, friendly, rugged fishing village. Loved every minute.

Lovely to wake up in the morning to such a spectacular view. We love St Abbs and the surrounding area, and have stayed in other cottages previously - but this apartment was the best by far. Only couple of v minor tweaks to suggest: Listing: Might want to highlight the steepness of the external steps a bit more. We were fine, but some might find it very difficult especially when carrying bags up & down. Facilities: A brighter external light and/or clearer sign would help find the property in the dark.

The location is fantastic: just above the harbour with amazing sea views, and so quiet and peaceful. The flat was comfortable and cosy, lovely and warm despite the cold weather outside. It had a great hot shower and comfortable beds - just what we needed after days walking the coastal paths. We also found the owner to be very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed days out to North Berwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed and can also recommend the community run cafe a short walk down the road - which was even open new years day! We will definitely return.

  • "This property is in an ideal location, was well stocked with utensils and was clean and tidy on arrival."

The property could do with more instructions/ updating instructions. For example there were no instructions on the use of the dishwasher. The instructions asked for bedding and towels to be put into black bags before leaving, however there were no bags around. Generally, Covid instructions appeared outdated with a request to leave our address details for contact and trace, which no longer exists. In most other properties we have stayed in there have been complementary toiletries but there was nothing like that only half a toilet roll. The heating failed to come on, on the Thursday morning and the flat was cold, by the time we realised it was not going to come on we were so cold we decided to just head home a day early.

We are so sorry the heating did not come on on your penultimate day at The Rest. If you had let us know we would have remedied the problem immediately. There are always soaps and several toilet rolls left for residents to use and the instructions for the dishwasher are in the second drawer in the kitchen units. We asked you to let us know if you need anything, both in person and in our "instructions". We mean this sincerely and would have provided what ever you needed had you asked. Property Owner

  • "What a wonderful week we had staying at The Rest."

The location is stunning. A 5 minute walk to the harbour or 10 minutes to the beach. We used the cottage as a base to explore the borders area and into England too, visiting Bamburgh ( best coffee of the week at the Copperkettle - dogs allowed in the courtyard), Holy Island, Berwick on Tweed, North Berwick (best fruit scone of the week at the cafe in the seabird centre -dogs allowed in and out and delicious lunch from the lobster shack in the harbour), Eyemouth (we ate at The Ship twice - best in town - dogs allowed in the bar), Paxton House as well as St Abbs and Coldingham. The property is bigger than the photos suggest and was perfect for 3 adults and a dog. Well equipped, warm and cosy too although we opted to turn the heating off. The beds could do with a memory foam topper for extra comfort - these bones did a lot of walking! Joanna is a welcoming and helpful host. Its the first time we’ve gone somewhere and thought we would really love to come back. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. Thank you St Abbs /New Asgard

We have two children and the location was ideal for them being only 5/10 min from the beach. The owners were so lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful with food recommendations and laundry facilities for the sandy beach clothes. The garden in front of the property was so beautiful with chairs and table overlooking the sea. wildlife was to be seen everywhere with rabbits, swifts and many other birds frequenting the garden. Best bits: The location of the flat is absolutely fabulous, with sea views and on the coastal walk to the beaches and headlands - LOCATION for me was the selling point. We LOVED the area - very friendly locals. The flat was lovely and warm on arrival. VERY well equipped for self-catering and as nothing is open in St Abbs after 4pm for food(over the new year period) we were glad the kitchen was just like being at home. Comfy bed and comfy sofas More spacious than the photos do it justice! Just the 2 of us, but would be plenty of space for a family of 4. Loved the Christmas tree left for our arrival - really nice touch. Areas for improvement: No welcome pack- understand Covid has it's downfalls but it wouldnt have taken much to leave a wiped down bottle of milk in the fridge. Cleanliness - the bedding and towels were all lovely and clean, as was the furniture, but way too many cobwebs on the walls and ceilings. The car parking area needs to be tidied up, the front garden is beautifully kept so its a shame when you park up at the back you get a completely different aspect! The heating was VERY warm so we had to open windows - as couldn't see a thermostat anywhere. It was unseasonably warm though!
