Walks from your doorstep. Everything was good. Not modern. Slept really well. Warm too - major plus. TV got all Freeview channels. Wifi good. Would recommend.
"Hello, this is Bing."
I can help you improve your message. Here is a possible revision: I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage in St. Abbs, on the Scottish borders. The cottage was spotless and cosy, with everything I could need. It felt like a home away from home. The cottage was surrounded by stunning views that added to the tranquillity of the place. I loved waking up to the scenic landscapes of the Scottish borders. The owner had a great eye for detail in the well-kept interior and the fun games they provided. The best part, though, was the warm hospitality of the owner. They were friendly and helpful, making sure I had a comfortable stay. I will never forget their kindness. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent amenities and a touch of Scottish charm.
"Great accommodation every thing you need great views lovely and warm."
Thank you very much
"Enjoyed our stay lovely setting overlooking the sea , so peaceful and quiet no road noise at all ."
Only noise was from the sea birds!
"Fantastic short break; wonderful location."
Comfortable flat right on the coastal path with sea views, amazing garden and a five minute walk to the sands. This is our fourth visit here, which shows how magical we find it here.
"Comfortable accomodation and well equipped."
The setting and views are stunning. Some amazing walks and peaceful evenings watching the harbour.
"The host and flat are charming and welcoming."
It’s spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen good shower and a comfy double bed. But it’s the views and the wildlife that provide the magic. We were surrounded by gulls, swifts, garden birds and rabbits. We saw regular murmurations and were treated to a pod of dolphins on our last night. We definitely left our hearts in St Abbs, a wonderful, friendly, rugged fishing village. Loved every minute.
"Lovely relaxing stay at The Rest, ideally situated for coastal walk to the beach 10 minutes away, or a stroll down to the harbour to just sit and enjoy the scenery, we'll be hopefully returning soon."
"Lovely property with absolutely stunning views across the North Sea."
Extremely comfortable with all the amenities you could require. Slight accessibility issues for people with mobility issues, otherwise a wonderful place for a relaxing stay.
"Had a lovely stay in St Abbs."
Good facilities, and well placed for many of East Scotland's and Northumberland's sites of interest..
"Lovely coastal property with easy parking within the grounds and easy access to the coastal path."
The oroperty was clean and well equipped There were plenty of electric sockets We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Rest. Thank you
"Nice quiet property in stunning location."
Did not appreciate garden was not enclosed, so couldn’t let dog off lead. Also our Saluki could note cope with the amount of rabbits bouncing about, gardens, streets, basically everywhere. Without the dog would have been fine.
Lovely area with great coastal walks on the doorstep.
"Wonderful location almost on the coastal path."
"The property was absolutely wonderful, and in a great location."
Lovely to wake up in the morning to such a spectacular view. We love St Abbs and the surrounding area, and have stayed in other cottages previously - but this apartment was the best by far. Only couple of v minor tweaks to suggest: Listing: Might want to highlight the steepness of the external steps a bit more. We were fine, but some might find it very difficult especially when carrying bags up & down. Facilities: A brighter external light and/or clearer sign would help find the property in the dark.
"We had a wonderful stay over New Year."
The location is fantastic: just above the harbour with amazing sea views, and so quiet and peaceful. The flat was comfortable and cosy, lovely and warm despite the cold weather outside. It had a great hot shower and comfortable beds - just what we needed after days walking the coastal paths. We also found the owner to be very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed days out to North Berwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed and can also recommend the community run cafe a short walk down the road - which was even open new years day! We will definitely return.
"On our arrival, in the sleet and snow, we were só happily surprised that the house was só warm and welcoming ."
We felt right at home. The place is great, and the views are spectacular. We had everything we could ask for.
"Had a great week up here."
Accomodation was spot on, was a great base for the dog and me getting in a load of coastal walks. The morning views are lush. Spar shop is 5 mins down the road and there is a small village shop a couple streets away, will definitely be back
"This property is in an ideal location, was well stocked with utensils and was clean and tidy on arrival."
The property could do with more instructions/ updating instructions. For example there were no instructions on the use of the dishwasher. The instructions asked for bedding and towels to be put into black bags before leaving, however there were no bags around. Generally, Covid instructions appeared outdated with a request to leave our address details for contact and trace, which no longer exists. In most other properties we have stayed in there have been complementary toiletries but there was nothing like that only half a toilet roll. The heating failed to come on, on the Thursday morning and the flat was cold, by the time we realised it was not going to come on we were so cold we decided to just head home a day early.
We are so sorry the heating did not come on on your penultimate day at The Rest. If you had let us know we would have remedied the problem immediately. There are always soaps and several toilet rolls left for residents to use and the instructions for the dishwasher are in the second drawer in the kitchen units. We asked you to let us know if you need anything, both in person and in our "instructions". We mean this sincerely and would have provided what ever you needed had you asked. Property Owner
"The property was excellent would highly recommend it,"
"A lovely place to stay!"
Flat is cosy and had everything we needed. Location is incredible with views of the sea from the doorstep. Lots to do in St Abbs. We liked the cafe and the visitor centre. We walked on the coastal path to Eyemouth. Lots of nice places to eat in Eyemouth. Coldingham Bay 10 mins walk from the flat. 2 adults/ 2 teenagers- really suited us and would definitely return.
"St Abbs is a wonderful spot, and The Rest is a wonderful place to stay, really directly on the coast, well equipped and very comfortable."
We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend The Rest to others. And watching the sunrise over the sea while sitting on the sofa was one of the highlights of the holiday
"What a wonderful week we had staying at The Rest."
The location is stunning. A 5 minute walk to the harbour or 10 minutes to the beach. We used the cottage as a base to explore the borders area and into England too, visiting Bamburgh ( best coffee of the week at the Copperkettle - dogs allowed in the courtyard), Holy Island, Berwick on Tweed, North Berwick (best fruit scone of the week at the cafe in the seabird centre -dogs allowed in and out and delicious lunch from the lobster shack in the harbour), Eyemouth (we ate at The Ship twice - best in town - dogs allowed in the bar), Paxton House as well as St Abbs and Coldingham. The property is bigger than the photos suggest and was perfect for 3 adults and a dog. Well equipped, warm and cosy too although we opted to turn the heating off. The beds could do with a memory foam topper for extra comfort - these bones did a lot of walking! Joanna is a welcoming and helpful host. Its the first time we’ve gone somewhere and thought we would really love to come back. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. Thank you St Abbs /New Asgard
"Stayed a week at The Rest."
A lovely quiet area with stunning views and the owners were very helpful and pleasant. St Abbs harbour is literally 5 minutes walk if that from the apartment and the beach only a ten minute walk. Highly recommend.
"This is our third visit- we love it here."
A ten minute walk to the best beach for an evening swim; wonderful walks and cycle routes all around, and a comfortable and welcoming base with sea views and a fantastic garden. Lovely hosts too. Ten out of ten.
"We’re just back from a week long stay here and had a fantastic time."
The accommodation was as described, even with the very welcome addition of a dishwasher which I have to say had been something we would miss. So yay!! We have two children and the location was ideal for them being only 5/10 min from the beach. The owners were so lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful with food recommendations and laundry facilities for the sandy beach clothes. St. Abbs itself is a lovely wee village with a couple of tasty cafes and plenty nice walls for the dog (and to tire the kids out).
"Superb property right overlooking the sea with walks right along the coast passing the front gate."
Property was beautiful throughout and was so comfy and spotlessly clean with everything you would want to make your stay enjoyable. The hostess was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay there. The garden in front of the property was so beautiful with chairs and table overlooking the sea. wildlife was to be seen everywhere with rabbits, swifts and many other birds frequenting the garden. Saint Abbs itself was a beautiful harbour with walks across the coast to cliffs filled with nesting birds and many hidden bays. We even came across deer grazing on the cliff sides. A paradise for nature lovers. We had one of our best holidays here...just beautiful and relaxing.
"Lovely property, amazing views and friendly welcome from owners."
Would highly recommend for a small family..
"We absolutely loved staying at the rest."
What a location! Sea views, very quiet, right on the coastal path. The house/ flat was perfect. Wonderful views, sunny, plenty of space, great place to cook, comfortable, great shower. Thank you so much. It was fabulous sitting out in the garden looking out to see with the sun shining.
"Wonderful location and very comfortable accommodation."
7 minutes along coastal path to the lovely coldingham bay (dogs on leads June to September)., Owners exceptionally welcoming and keen for guests to enjoy their stay. Fabulous garden.
"Great upstairs flat."
Fantastic coastal location. We thought the sea view was better than the photos suggested. We will definitely return!
"Absolutely beautiful property in a stunning area."
Property had everything we needed. Would definitely come again.
"The property location was simply stunning."
In terms of relaxation and getting away from the grind of life, this is the place to find it. I found the bed incredibly uncomfortable but that may be down to my preference. The apartment is well stocked in terms of things you need and is nice and quiet at night other than birds.
"The cottage is beautifully located, with easy access to the village and surrounding area."
Within a couple of hours of arriving we were comfortably settled in, a real home from home. Excellent in all respects.
"Absolutely loved my stay at The Rest."
It’s location right on the coast path had been my initial draw to book. But I got so much more. The flat is bright and spacious with fabulous views of the sea. It is so cosy and warm too, that I really didn’t want to leave. Such a fabulous location, I’ll definitely be back and have already recommended to a few friends.
"We booked very last minute so got a fantastic price so cant complain!"
Best bits: The location of the flat is absolutely fabulous, with sea views and on the coastal walk to the beaches and headlands - LOCATION for me was the selling point. We LOVED the area - very friendly locals. The flat was lovely and warm on arrival. VERY well equipped for self-catering and as nothing is open in St Abbs after 4pm for food(over the new year period) we were glad the kitchen was just like being at home. Comfy bed and comfy sofas More spacious than the photos do it justice! Just the 2 of us, but would be plenty of space for a family of 4. Loved the Christmas tree left for our arrival - really nice touch. Areas for improvement: No welcome pack- understand Covid has it's downfalls but it wouldnt have taken much to leave a wiped down bottle of milk in the fridge. Cleanliness - the bedding and towels were all lovely and clean, as was the furniture, but way too many cobwebs on the walls and ceilings. The car parking area needs to be tidied up, the front garden is beautifully kept so its a shame when you park up at the back you get a completely different aspect! The heating was VERY warm so we had to open windows - as couldn't see a thermostat anywhere. It was unseasonably warm though!
"Great apartment right on the coastal path at St Abbs - with the lovely Coldingham Sands a ten minute walk away."
Cosy and comfortable, a lovely open plan living area and sea views. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and there is a little shop five minutes for your morning paper. We loved it and will be back!
"Really helpful hosts lovely place to visit very relaxing"
"What can I say, a beautiful home with the most incredible views!"
! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and for your kindness in letting us stay longer on our last day. The house has everything you could possibly need. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay and will definitely be back.
"Lovely host, stunning location in a beautiful area."
"The owners were very helpful and the location was perfect for exploring the area."
"Lovely location and views."
Owners friendly and on site. Bath is a mini-one (not a problem but helpful if mentioned in description. Some towels were wet on arrival. Plenty of parking.
"Location 10/10 view from the property 10/10 The bed and bedding where extremely comfortable."
The owners are lovely very welcoming. Highly recommended The cafe by the putting green for lunch small post office is friendly. Coldingham beach is only a five minute walk from the property its a beautiful beach and the biggest bonus for us is you can take your dog to the beach. Walk to St abbs head and Mire Loch is a must, the ship in Coldingham is lovely very limited choice for my vegetarian husband but he enjoyed what he ate. Bamburgh castle and Holy island only a 40 minute drive away. Perfect place to stay in my opinion and we will book The Rest again.
"A really relaxing stay, lovely sea views from the flat and the garden."
Helpful hosts, very dog friendly.
"The Rest is clean, comfortable and has a homely feel- the garden is huge and overlooks the sea."
The owners are a lovely couple who are there if you need them, but not intrusive otherwise. The coastal path is literally on the other side of the gate. The views are fabulous! St Abbs is a small, busy working harbour in the day, with a mystical feel in the evening. It’s a great place for walkers and birdwatchers. You can walk to a safe, sandy beach in minutes. All in all, we loved our holiday here and would happily return.
"The Rest was clean, comfortable, and met our expectations."
Joanne and Peter were excellent and made us feel welcome. On the downside, there is nowhere to get food or drink after 5pm in St Abbs. Coldingham is roughly 30 minutes walk, or a car ride. The New Inn had excellent food, and the staff were very friendly. But we had to drive to Eyemouth, or order a delivery at other times. St Abbs is beautiful, but it is very quiet after 5pm.
"The only minimal drawback is the fact that there are steps up to the property, which did not bother us but potential customers should be made aware of."
Lovely hosts, fantastic wee village steeped in history. Great eatery on the harbour Ebb carrs for local caught crab etc and the best bowl of Cullen Skink I've every tasted xx
"Rebooked during the pandemic with no issues, except finding a good date as everyone went so mad looking for staycations."
Wonderful hosts who had everything ready and shipshape for us on arrival, and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. We may well book again to go back to St Abbs... it's a lovely quiet spot when all the walkers have left in the evening.
"Fabulous place for a holiday."
Beautiful views and perfectly placed for access to the coastal walks, St Abbs and Coldingham. Owners were lovely, very approachable and helpful. The Rest was comfortable and clean - well named. Would definitely recommend. We will be back.
"Comfortable cottage, lovely village, and some beautiful walks."
"Lovely cottage, fantastic location, quiet and scenery stunning."
Plenty of local walks, amenities a short drive and walkable.
"Lovely flat, well equipped, cosy and comfortable, I would return."
"Excellent accommodation with everything you would need whatever the season and whatever the weather."
Owners were lovely and welcoming
"Great location with stunning views to go with it, hosts Peter and Joanna could not be more welcoming ."
"The owner of The Rest was extremely helpful and friendly ."
"Just spent 4 nights in this cosy apartment overlooking the sea."
The apartment had everything we needed for a quiet get away from it all holiday. St Abbs is beautiful and unspoilt with fab walks from the door of the apartment. We didn’t use our car at all whilst we were there. StAbbs head has stunning scenery ,dramatic cliffs , and views to the North , a great place for birdwatching. There’s a lovely beach at Coldingham bay,, 10 minutes walk from the apartment. Cliff top walk to Eyemouth for fish n chips is lovely too. We enjoyed watching the seal in the harbour . Ebbscarr cafe is nice for lunch or coffee and a cake .If you love walks , fresh air and wildlife this is a great place to have a holiday.
"The place was excellent for the beach ,I loved all the detail the owners had thought about ,and it was comforting to know they were on hand for anything ,especially as I was Holidaying alone ."
The whole of st abbs provided a lovely retreat a place t o relax . The harbour holds a treat of a lovely cafe which serves meals coffees and well recommend hot chocolate complete with marshmallows and cream . And I saw some lovely winter sunrises .
