"The cottage was delightful and really quirky."
It had everything you could want to enjoy your stay. The garden was excellent and so secure allowing my dogs the freedom to play outside safely. The area was great and so beautiful. I really hope to return next year.
-
"Wonderful cottage in a tranquil location."
Cottage and its garden was a delight - the bird life especially noteworthy. Lovely ' old world' ambience about this property and it was such a nice place to return to after a hard day's walking the Mynd. Whilst the weather was quite poor at times during our week, we made the most of the location near to Church Stretton and some very good walking areas nearby. All in all, can't fault this property or the quiet location. Would recommend it to anyone and we hope very much to return again very soon. Harry and Wendy
Thank you for the positive feedback and we hope you visit again. Regards Phil and Pam Property Owner

"Hill Brow is a magical place where all you can hear are the birds."
The conservatory is perfect for relaxing, the garden is beautiful and the house contains everything needed for a great holiday. We love it here and have already booked for our third visit next year.
-
"Lovely quirky property with wildlife garden full of birds."
Nice views and very peaceful/relaxing.
-
"Loved cottage setting but bit too old fashioned for me."
Bedroom needs rugs on cold wooden floo. Larger duvet on comfy bed. Walking too & fro to fridge not for us. Loved the pantry.Palace Farm much better equipped but more expensive.
-
"This is a charming place with lots of character, and we enjoyed our stay very much."
We enjoyed particularly the lovely conservatory, and of course the pretty garden, birds and views. It was very peaceful. Because of the time of year, we did get a bit chilly at times, but we worked out the heaters and lit the fire one evening, so we were fine.
Thanks for the feedback. We’re pleased you had a good time despite the odd weather we are having. Regards Phil and Pam Property Owner

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage which had everything we needed."
The garden was absolutely lovely with fantastic views. We appreciated the personal touches and information.

"Beautiful cottage in an amazing location."
Loved the views, the garden and the location.

"We had a lovely week at Hill Brow."
Eventually. We were following our satnav instead of the instructions sent by the owners, which I suggest you follow, because it would have saved us half an hour searching in the dark. It's exactly where they said it was. So we didn't get much of a look around till the next morning. It's a lovely place, in an idyllic setting. If you want peace and quiet then there's no finer place. The road past the bungalow is mainly used by farm traffic and the odd local, no street lights to speak of, so no light pollution. The bungalow is solid and spacious and it and everything in it is built to last, with just enough mod cons to satisfy most people. Yes, we did have a few moments with the heating and the first attempt at lighting the fire failed because the ashes hadn't been cleared. But luckily we have a woodburner so managed to sort it. Loved the pantry! Loved the ceiling clothes airer! Loved the scullery! Wondered why the kitchen door was missing, that would have kept the lounge warmer, but soon got used to it. We soon had a routine and it really was a home away from home, even a sewing kit in the conservatory for lost buttons etc. We even got used to the long jump over the mud to get on to the lane. It's farming country so to be expected. My first purchase if I lived in Shropshire would be a stout pair of wellies! We visited some lovely places and it's an ideal base, although we had wanted to visit the Acton Scott Farm and weren't aware that it had been closed and not re-opened. But there are numerous sights and sites within 30 minutes drive of the house. We'd definitely book again and hope nothing - at all - gets changed before we get chance. Like other visitors have said, we are very jealous that this little slice of heaven doesn't belong to us, except for the holiday week. It's easy to see it's very popular - and why.

"A fantastic place in nature, loved every minute of our stay."

"The biggest compliment we could give "Hillbrow"would be to say" We wish it was ours"."
A perfect get away from it all property..Modern where you would expect it to be,otherwise olde worlde❤️ If you're dog owners,or bird watchers, this place is even more perfect.Sit on the settee in the lounge looking through the patio doors and watch birds of all varieties(our favourite was the daily visit of the Greater Spotted Woodpecker)then later,if you're lucky like us,watch glorious sunsets. The bungalow has a great shower, very warm and comfortable beds, everything you need in the kitchen, separate room for the fridge freezer&washing machine, along with a massive conservatory, which although a little cool in winter,is another big plus point for the property. The large, mainly secure garden, backs on to an open field with nice views.Plenty of parking space if you've more than one car. I've probably missed other plus points of this place, but l think I've said enough to say,we loved our stay here, and like many others,we'd gladly return.. PS.take plenty of peanuts for the birds.

"We had a lovely time and found the coziness and woodburner just right."
Having the conservatory was a great plus although being cold. The only thing which should be improved was the lack of cleaniness, lots of round corners and lack of detail regarding that.
-
"This was our second stay which we thoroughly enjoyed."
Our arthritic dog really loves Hill Brows garden and the fact she’s lead free! The gardens safe, interesting and beautiful in any season. The cottage has everything you need just take food. It’s really clean and comfortable with a great log fire. Thank you Pam & Phil we’ll hopefully see you again soon.

"We had another lovely, peaceful stay at Hill Brow."
The weather was kind to us, and so we spent a lot of time in the garden enjoying watching the birds on the feeders. The quirky nature of the cottage really appeals to us, and it feels very homey and comfortable.
-
"We loved our stay at Hill Brow, it's a quirky bungalow with old features as you can see by the pictures."
It was well equipped for a self catering holiday. The conservatory is very large and bright, but could feel a little chilly - however, it was the end of September. The log burner more than made up for that in the living room and was so cosy. The garden was lovely, but I imagine it is even more so in spring as there are a couple of large rhododendron bushes and apple trees which will look beautiful with their flowers and blossom on. The birds were very happy feeding practically all day long. Hill Brow was a good location for visiting Shropshire, not too far from Bridgenorth, Ironbridge, Ludlow to name just three that we visited.

"Perfect"

"Cosy and unusual cottage."
Loved the lived-in feel and the arts and crafts decor. Kitchen was well appointed and easy to cook in. Nice to have throws on the sofas for evening snuggling, either on the decking or in the sitting room. A small point re the bedding. Very comfortable beds but it would be good to be aware that the main duvet is feathers/down for allergy/asthma knowledge. Not a problem for us as husband took extra antihistamines. Such a relaxing week, nice to be able to buy milk direct from rhe farm up the road. A great base to explore from and retreat to. Thoughtful touches like the welcoming bottle of prosecco, the chocolates and the stores of bird food in the freezer.
Thanks for your positive feedback. I hope you return. Regards Philip Pps We have a hypogenic duvet in the wardrobe but the note saying this must have been mislaid. Property Owner

"We enjoyed our stay at Hillbrow; it is a quirky place in many ways and quite isolated - but this adds to its appeal."
There is a real homely and retro feel to the cottage, but that's entirely in keeping. Excellent for nature lovers and bird-watching. Good location if you have a dog (or two!). A (switchable) patio light would be helpful to illuminate the garden as it is very dark at night.
Thanks for your positive feedback. I hope you enjoyed your stay at Hillbrow as much as we do. Regards Philip Property Owner

"On the pictures the cottage looks traditional and quirky."
However on arriving we found the cottage looked tired and requires an overhaul, when it rained the conservatory roof leaked and leaving the driveway felt you were dicing with death! There was a mirror to help you leave the drive but that only showed to the left. To the right was a bend and tractors and wagons would come along the lane at speed. One of us had to go out onto the lane to ensure it was safe. It wasn't all bad, the garden was lovely but do not go on the decking if it has rained, it is lethal. (There are warning signs so take note) maybe they should do some sort of anti slip as pooches slip on it also and it more difficult to get the pooch to understand it slippery. I know this review sounds negative but it is how we saw it!

"We had a great week at Hillbrow."
We loved the old charm of the property, highlighted via the vintage memorabilia found within. This combined with some modern day niceties resulted in a delightful base to explore the area. If walking is your passion you’ll love Hillbrow with walks to nearby Ragleth Hill and Long Mynd from the doorstep. Local pubs in very nearby Little Stretton also proved fine food. We had such a good time we’ve already booked for next year.

"A great place to experience the South Shropshire countryside All you could want ..."
A great place to experience the South Shropshire countryside All you could want to be truly delighted with returning from a day exploring and trekking some of the best walking areas in the country A lovely garden setting on a lane near farmland The house is fully equipt clean comfortable a great place to relax and escape Highly recommended
Thanks for the positive feedback. Hillbrow is a special place but particularly when the sun shines. Hope you visit again. Property Owner

"This cottage is an absolute find."
It is beautiful, rustic, full of character, all matched by the wonderful garden. Very peaceful location, nearby walks in picturesque countryside. We had a fantastic week, our dog loved it too, we didn'twant to leave. The property is a credit to the owners who have thought of everything. Very highly recommended, we would definitely return.
Thank you for the lovely feedback. We are currently at Hillbrow and are attempting to control the garden. We hope you visit again. Regards Philip and Pam Property Owner

"Hill Brow is the most charming property."
We spent a lot of our time either sitting in the amazing conservatory or outside in the garden where all you can hear are the birds singing. The location is perfect for exploring this beautiful part of Shropshire, being within easy driving distance of Church Stretton, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Ironbridge, amongst others. The scenery is stunning in all directions. A hidden gem that we would love to visit again.
Thanks for the great feedback. You chose a good time to visit with the garden in bloom and the weather warming up. We’re looking forward to a few days out there ourselves. Property Owner
-
"Lovely unusual cottage."
Very peaceful. Only criticism is beds could benefit from new pillows. Current ones are like wafers.
Thanks for the feedback. We will change some of the pillows so guests can choose the depth they prefer. Property Owner

"This was my 4th visit to Hill Brow…."
I just love it! Quirky, charming bungalow with all the mod cons you could want ( except a dishwasher! ) The garden is a delight…for people and dogs. Lovely birds to watch and food for them provided . It’s a beautiful house and location ; perfect to chill if you don’t want to travel…and great locations for walking close by. Am already planning my visit for next year!
-
"Hill Brow always delivers on charm."
A well equipped cottage that offers all the home comforts in wonderful setting, this is why we keep returning.
-
"Beautiful, relaxing, quiet, Private and great for bird watching, cycling, walking or for a ride out in the car!"
-
"We stayed at Hill Brow during a very hot week and inside the bungalow stayed remarkably cooler than outside!"
A lovely quirky place with many things to look at and reminisce. A fantastic garden for our dog and plenty of walking straight from the house so nice not to have to use car every day. Although not the most modern it was comfy although sofas in living room not so good, after a long walk you need a sofa to sink into but these were small and solid! That said Hill Brow suited us with large conservatory( with softer sofas!)lovely secure garden and WiFi worked well for route planning etc.
-
"Hillbrow may not be everyone's cup of tea; if you like granite work surfaces, dishwashers and laminate floors then this property might not be for you."
However, if you like your walk-in pantry with a cool marble slab, original oak parquet floors, brass bedsteads, a wooden verandah and glorious cottage garden, not to mention curios galore, then this is definitely the place for you. We found it perfectly charming! The large bathroom is equipped with a terrific waterfall shower, the brass beds were extremely comfy and the French windows from the living room out to the verandah/garden (not a bit of UPVC in sight) were just delightful. The huge conservatory is a bonus that gives lots of extra living space and the decking with excellent furniture is a fabulous place to eat breakfast or dinner whilst enjoying the myriad birds that flock to the well stocked food stations (extra bird cake thoughtfully provided by the owners in the large freezer). We were there during the 40° July heatwave and a fan would have been a welcome addition but I guess we don't get a lot of exceptional weather to warrant it? I've stayed in a lot of holiday cottages over the years but none like this. Part gingerbread house, part fairytale cottage and part museum. We found it wholly lovely
-
"Cottage very big & roomy."
Only two of us ( not walkers. Nor pet owners) used 2nd bedroom for all our bags & belongings, great, kept our double bedroom tidy. Was also very comfortable & cool in bedroom. Both sets of setees had springs gone!! Not very comfy!! But was so lovely & hot really appreciated the huge garden & sitting outside. So did all the birds with their free food (provided by owners) unfortunately the bbq was left unclean & in a mess, but owner left message of apology. We ate out nearly every night (recommended places in “the book “). Which was very nice. Had everything else we needed. Good to have car parking & quiet in country Sometimes felt like being in a museum, but maybe that’s why it’s quirky!! It did grow on us!!! Thank you

"We absolutely LOVED our stay at Hillbrow."
It was idyllic. I grew up in the middle of the countryside but have not been lucky (rich) enough to live there since. Hillbrow took me back to my childhood. The cottage garden is gorgeous and made all the better by the birds that visit the feeders. Our dogs loved the garden (sorry about the hole!) and I am pretty sure were miffed when they got back to our sorry boring patch of grass. Everything we needed for a fab stay. Comfy beds which is a rarity in my experience and a well stocked kitchen. Lovely to bump into the owners when we were leaving - very helpful and friendly. Will most definitely be back.
-
"We had a delightful holiday at Hillbrow."
It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The location is very peaceful and it makes a great base for visiting the beautiful towns, villages and countryside of Shropshire. The conservatory and deck area were pleasant places to sit and admire the garden and to watch the huge variety of garden birds as well as bats and owls in the evening. We would definitely return and highly recommend Hillbrow.
Thank you for your positive feedback. Sorry for the slow reply. We hope you return to Hillbrow again and may be able to meet in person next time. Regards Philip and Pam Property Owner
-
"We loved this cottage!"
Quite unique! Quiet, peaceful, relaxing and homely. So lovely sitting in the conservatory watching the birds. A beautiful, interesting garden and so, so quiet. A little slice of heaven.
-
"This was our 3rd stay at Hillbrow and as always we had a wonderful stay."
We love the quirkyness of the cottage, it has all you could need and the garden is lovely, our dogs had lots of fun playing in it and meeting the cows in the field next door! We will be booking again soon.
Thanks for your positive feedback. Hopefully we will meet on your next visit. Regards Philip and Pam Property Owner
-
"This was a lovely home to stay in, in a beautiful setting."
Very relaxing on warm days to sit in the conservatory - in colder weather, I imagine the main part of the house could be very cosy with a fire going.
-
"Great holiday, would happily go again"
Thank you for such positive feedback. I hope you get opportunity to visit Hillbrow during the summer months so you can enjoy the garden. Property Owner
-
"Bedrooms and bathroom very cold ."
Heating not adequate for winter months. Electric sockets in bedrooms not easily accessible as under beds against wall. on the plus side. A nice cottage in a lovely area.
-
"Garden wasn't as secure as advert leads you to believe, could do with a couple ..."
Garden wasn't as secure as advert leads you to believe, could do with a couple of oven dishes, but does offer good value for money and the birds and squirrels were a joy to watch, love the bird cake idea, would definitely go back
-
"We loved staying in this quirky bungalow."
It was remarkably well-equipped with everything we needed and more. Our dogs enjoyed exploring the lovely garden and we could relax knowing that it was secure for them. We greatly enjoyed watching the birds feed and were grateful to have food left for them. It's a beautiful part of the world, the autumn colours were a sight to see. Settling down in the end of the day with the woodburner lit made the dark evenings something to look forward to. We would love to return!
-
"What a delightful little gem Hill Brow Cottage is!"
It really did have everything charm, character, peace and a beautiful display from the birds in the garden. We wanted for nothing and the bird feed left by the owners for us to feed the birds was a nice touch
-
"We stayed at Hillbrow last last year."
Smart and very sturdy new garden furniture. Still full of character. Wine and chocolates on arrival much appreciated.
-
"A great cottage in a very nice rural location."
Welcome gift in the fridge on arrival was a very nice touch, the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Grounds were perfect for our dogs, very secure and lots to keep them amused. Super fast wi-fi enabled us to keep connected when we felt the need. Walks from the door ensured we didn’t have to drive anywhere and the local farmers are very friendly if you needed advice on where to walk. Local towns and hills all within easy reach, we had most of the hill tops to ourselves with great vistas for lunch. Recommended.
-
"We enjoyed our stay at Hillbrow, looking at several reviews we knew what to expect!"
It was a quirky cottage which was endearing in some ways. The garden was wonderful, especially for our nervous Springer, we enjoyed the peace and quiet, except it was harvest time!! The bird life was fantastic We didn’t like the fact that the sheets weren’t ironed, and one pillow was particularly badly stained. Also 3 guests staying for a week need more than one loo roll!
-
"We had an amazing relaxing break at Hill Brow and as soon as we drove up to the property we had the wow factor."
It’s set in beautiful countryside with a fantastic garden and facilities and just feels like home. The owners left us in private with a bottle of bubbly in the fridge. The garden was secure which meant our dog could walk around untethered and safe. Which was a weight off our shoulders and total peace of mind. Will we return? ABSOLUTELY!
-
"Lovely holiday in a delightful location."
The garden was full of fantastic variety of birds and also very pretty. Would recommend for a nice peaceful break.
-
"An Absolutely Super Stay."
We loved the character and the garden and the comfort and the relaxation. Of course the bird life was a real pleasure. This AONB is true to it's acronym.
-
"Views of the countryside from conservatory were great."
Very relaxing and peaceful stay, certainly surrounded by nature. A pleasant week away.
-
"We were just after somewhere to stay near to relatives after lockdown restrictions eased, but Hill Brow was a delight."
A well-equipped, comfortable cottage in a beautiful location with some quirky touches. Thankfully, not over-modernised but the huge conservatory is a definite bonus. If you are after all mod cons and precisely matching cutlery then look elsewhere; but Hill Brow has character in bucket-loads.
-
"A charming cottage which is furnished for its period and this adds to its attraction."
Very well equipped with crockery and utensils (which not all cottages are), the garden is a wildlife and dog's delight. It is well fenced so our springer was contained but she really enjoyed her evening encounters with the hedgehog and attempts to meet the fox which obviously cleans up under the bird tables each night! Bird food was supplied and we saw a wonderful variety of feathered visitors. It boats a superb conservatory which we could only enjoy on our last afternoon as the weather was quite cloudy. Very well placed for visits to Ironbridge, Ludlow, Church Stretton and the Long Mynd, there is plenty within reasonable driving distance to keep you busy. We really enjoyed our stay!
-
"The cottage was beautiful, in a great, scenic location."
Very quiet and peaceful throughout the day and night. Nice space in the garden around the property for dogs and only a ten minute drive from church stretton and carding mill valley. Would highly recommend going, and we will be going back!
-
"Excellent accommodation especially if you have dogs"
-
"Lovely remote bungalow set in a large garden a short distance from Acton Scott historic working farm."
Cozy wood burner in the lounge for chilly evenings. Lovely to eat in the conservatory or have a nap while listening to the birds overhead and watching the many that visit the birds feeders.
-
"My husband died in April and after self isloation for six months my daughter decided to take me for a break."
Along with her two children we spent a fantastic holiday at Hillbrow cottage. It was very relaxing and comfortable. The garden was amazing with a gate leading to a field full of sheep which we all loved. The amazing amount of birds flicking to the feeders was great and we saw so much other wildlife too. I would highly recommend staying here and we will come again x
-
"We were delighted as soon as we drove up."
A very private peaceful location. The house is 1920s in style but it is clean and decorated to a very good standard. The garden is heavenly with the birds visiting and the little gate leading into the fields. Perfect for dogs. The quirky features in the house are charming - the stove, the tiles, the curios. We spent many hours in the warm and spacious conservatory, it also acts as a dining room so meals were very pleasant. The bathroom is well maintained, clean, no damp or mould. If you want a clinical, pristine characterless house, dont book this. But if you want a well maintained house which still holds on to its soul, this is the house for you!
-
"We enjoyed the experience of staying in this charming 1930’s bungalow complete with beautiful garden and the quirks of staying in an older property."
In a peaceful setting with lots of wildlife, we were very comfortable and enjoyed spending time both inside the property and out. The owners left food for the birds which was a lovely touch. We would happily return.
-
"We loved our stay at Hillbrow, its a cute quirky cottage with everthing you need inside and the garden is perfect, lots of wildlife and cheeky squirrels."
We will definately be returning on 2021.
-
"The cottage had everything that anyone could want for a weekend in the beautiful Shropshire countryside."
Much bigger than the photos suggest with huge garden, The only complaint would be the heating was not warm enough for what turned out to be a very cold weekend.
-
"Hillbrow never disappoints us with its quirky charm and peace."
-
"Lovely clean and great location"
-
"A quaint and charming cottage - set in a beautiful location- within easy reach of all facilities."
Would definitely recommend but don’t expect modern and boring - this cottage is filled with memories from the past.
-
"Generally good but to turn up to buckets of water pouring out of the entrance conservatory and a note asking to empty wasn't great!"
Especially after a long journey (long due to bad weather and traffic) The bungalow was very cold and the heating isn't quite adequate - although once the log burner gets going the main room warms up - both bedrooms and bathroom are very cold. (we are people who do not feel the cold and are not OAP's!) The Bungalow does have a lot of charm but I think the owners should spend a few days here in winter! the kitchen is very dark and anyone with not so good eyesight would struggle. I'm certain that in the summer this place would be amazing, a totally different take, but when very wet and cold outside it can easily turn a bit miserable. I think to make it very special it needs a bit of a overhaul as its very tired in places. Overall a good stay.
-
"THE cottage was fine - splendid and furnished of its time."
It was well equipped and everything was as promised. The garden is beautiful and the views splendid and lived up to expectations. Wish we had been there in the heat of summer - we might never have left the verandah.
-
"It would be useful to have a mirror as you exit the property as the lane is on occasion busy and it is blind coming out of the property."
otherwise no complaints
-
"We most enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location and the lovely garden."
The conservatory on Hill Brow is really nice and we loved sitting and reading in the sun.
-
"We loved every moment of our time spent at this lovely cottage ."
So much so that re rebooked for next year before we left to travel home . We loved looking out over the beautiful garden and to the views to the hills beyond .My Sister loved watching the many birds visit the feeding station. The owners made us very welcome .Thank you We had a very relaxing break and can't wait to revisit again next year .Thank you
-
"We had a wonderful week."
The cottage was ideally situated for walking and exploring Shropshire. I have fallen in love with Ludlow. My only reservation being that on the few days of rain and cold the heating in the cottage was not adequate without us using the main fire. There was no way to by pass the timer for the wall heaters. However we had a great time and would return soon if I closer to Scotland. Please pass on our thanks and regards to the owner. Sue and John Burns

"Had a lovely stay in a unique cottage and picturesque setting."
-
"A second visit just as lovely."
No wonder it is so booked up. We love this place
-
"It is what is states - a 1920's bungalow with furniture befitting - looks cosy."
The bedrooms are warm, cosy and pretty. The kitchen has all utensils you need. (Just wish the Arger was working it would have been great). But it does state in the description that it does not work. It has a lovely large pantry (unique in this day and age). The lounge overlooks the wonderful garden - with a fabulous range of birds that come to feed - a delight to watch. The large conservatory is just a delight to sit in and when warm a great place to eat. New doors and windows would be nice but if you put plenty of wood on the wood burner the rooms are warm and cosy.
-
"Beautiful, peaceful cottage set in a lovely garden with fantastic views."
Highly recommend buying bird food for the feeders was lovely watching them all even had a few visits from the local woodpeckers!
-
"Comfortable, warm cottage with character in a beautiful location amid a garden teeming with birds."
......a superb stay.

"Great place owners very helpful loads of wildlife to watch welcome pack was a ..."
Great place owners very helpful loads of wildlife to watch welcome pack was a nice surprise and cottage was well equipped with lovely wood burning fire would recommend some flags to the entrance as wheelchair was a struggle in the loose gravel but that wouldn’t put us off using the place again also recommend the lazy trout cafe 5 mins away had great breakfast there
-
"Cottage had everything we needed in a rural location surrounded by sheep and wildlife."
-
"A quirky 1920s bungalow, some lovely original features (windows, French doors with a perfect view of the garden and the birds, attractive quarry tile floor) but with modern comforts too."
We felt at home for two glorious weeks in the peace and quiet of idyllic Shropshire countryside yet only about 3 miles from Church Stretton. If you want everything brand, spanking new and the ultimate in luxury, go to a 5-star hotel and leave this gem to the rest of us to enjoy!
-
"An idyllic spot, ideal for relaxation, peace and quiet."
The cottage was exactly as described, and really homely. The garden is super with beautiful views and wildlife. We have already rebooked for next spring, something we have not done before. One of our dogs was adopted from the R.S.P.C.A. just 5 weeks previously, and probably had the best week of his life. A lovely week that went by far too quickly
-
"Great cottage, very beautiful & secluded."
A very help full owner, and a super holiday!
-
"We loved this quirky cottage."
We felt we were revisiting a bygone era of our grandmother's day, (except of course there is a TV, fridge and shower necessary in our lives today!) The iron-framed beds were most comfortable and everything we needed was provided. The wild and rambling garden was full of colour beyond which were moorland and countryside views on every side. The birdlife was spectacular with special bird food provided. It was characterful, full of weird and wonderful ornaments, old craftwork and pictures. We found it charming and quite unique. If you want a special experience of yesteryear, then this is the cottage for you! I wrote a poem to express our gratitude to the owners: "HILL BROW" A cottage so old With treasures of gold With quaint pictures there And craftwork so rare With rickety floors And old creaking doors And flowers and heather Surviving the weather A gem of a find Bringing history to mind Of old times we had As a lass and a lad!
-
"Great rural location."
The cottage is quirky, shabby chic. Furniture comfortable and great shower. Lovely garden, but be warned you can't really let your dog off lead in it, if he is likely to jump fences,or scrabble through hedges in attempts to chase the rabbits, rats, foxes etc which you get In this countryside garden. Also sheep in neighbouring field accessible via low gate. Otherwise very dog friendly cottage. The neighbouring farm dogs will defend their territory as they should but beware of this if your dog is walking past
-
"We loved Hill Brow."
Such a cosy cottage full of character. The wildlife in the garden was wonderful.
-
"The owners were were very helpful and so obliging."
Lovely location, everything supplied that one would need.
-
"A return visit, it was more like coming home."
Lovely feeling home, excellent views, peaceful garden, great location. A true home not a sterile cash maker, Have booked a third time. Thankyou
-
"The cottage was very comfortable, the garden lovely, and the area around very nice."
It was all as described in the advert.
-
"We really enjoyed staying at Hill Brow, and found it suited us well: comfortable and with a lived in and welcoming atmosphere."
The cottage is situated in a rural location, with fantastic views from the garden, but is only a couple of miles from the A49, so perfectly located for day trips. Footpaths also go from just outside the gates! We will definitely recommend a stay here to friends and family, and hope to return again.
-
"Really lovely remote bungalow, quiet location with beautiful garden."
Everything you could need is catered for within the bungalow but did take my own hairdryer as when we enquired there wasn't one. Was a pity that the Rayburn in the kitchen was not a working one as this would have been amazing, but was still very cosey with the log burner especially as there was so much snow when we arrived. I would recommend that anyone visiting with dogs is aware that the garden is not completely secure and you should keep an eye on your pets so they don't get out as the fields around have livestock. Our 9 year old dog Maddie loved every minute and we found an abundance of dog friendly cafes and shops in nearby Church Stretton, Ludlow, and Much Wenlock. The homemade bird food left for us to put out by the owners was a nice touch and the many birds love it. We are already planning for another visit in the summer we loved it so much.
-
"Quaint cottage, wonderful gardens and conservatory which enabled us to watch the variety of birds and the squirrels."
Fabulous location for our holiday.
-
"Lovely location in Shropshire although more remote than expected."
We had a power cut which was unfortunate but the owner came out and bought us candels. Property is cold as there is no central heating but nice to be able to burn wood on log burner and there were additional heaters provided to keep place warm. Well equipped. Beautiful area, lots of wildlife, wonderful walks and local places to visit. Great place to get away from it all for a few days, very peaceful.
-
"The friendliness of the contract with the owner."
The cottage was more a home than a holiday house . Even down to wild bird food ( cake in the freezer ) . Great time .
