  • "The Cottage looked amazing in the photos, but exceeded expectations."

When we walked in, there was a real Xmas tree, decorations and the table set for Xmas lunch. The mince pies and homemade Damson Gin was enjoyed by all! There was plenty of room for 6 and 2 dogs, very clean and comfortable, plenty of utensils, cutlery etc. The games room was a real bonus with games for the festive period. There were lovely walks in the village, books in the phone box and a good pub with lovely food. We all very much enjoyed our week away.

Thank you for coming to stay in our lovely cottage. South Shropshire is a beautiful party of the world. Do come again. Caroline & JP Property Owner

The log fire was perfect in the snowy weather we had. The pool table is a great feature - we enjoyed that thoroughly. All very well equipped. Lovely local, scenic walks. Very welcoming church just up the road.

  • "What a lovely cottage set in Lydbury North."

We loved our stay and enjoyed the log fire. We needed it after the floods there in Shropshire last weekend. We had to adjust the central heating as it was chilly but it was simple to use. Cannot wait to visit in the summer and sit outside and enjoy our summer. Felt inspired to write again- fabulous. Good for dogs too walks very near and a safe garden too.

We would love you to return during the summer. Thank you. Property Owner

The walks from the front door with our dogs were perfect both locally and going further afield; whether to join part of The Shropshire Way or to neighbouring villages and Bishops Castle. The owners, Caroline and JP couldn't have been more helpful. We loved the way they took such pride in their gorgeous cottage. A perfect place to stay. Thank you both.

  • "What a charming cottage!"

The accommodation was of a high standard and well equipped. Very clean, tidy and comfortable. The log fire added to the cosy atmosphere. The cottage retained a lot of the features of the original dwellings and was very appealing. We were surprised to find a bottle of homemade damson-based gin and a packet of local cookies when we arrived. A nice addition! There was plenty of room to park the car at the rear of the property. The local pub was a short distance away and we enjoyed a very delicious Sunday roast there. This is a gem of a place and anybody would be delighted to rent this cottage. Highly recommended!

So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Point noted on beds, when they need to be replaced we will look into a king size. Property Owner

Great location for exploring the local area. Scenic walks straight from the door step. The dogs really enjoyed it. My son played pool everyday and so did we! Warm and cosy. The local shop was handy for every day forgotten essentials and the local pub served great food. We would like to come back again when more local attractions will be open to see more of what this stunning area has to offer. The owners were welcoming and local. Thoroughly recommend

  • "Wonderful, warm and cosy - perfect for our well needed Christmas break."

Lovely cottage in pretty countryside. The rooms were spacious with enough room for us all to relax. Loved that they had more than one bathroom/WC which is needed for family & friends together. The wood-burner in the living room provided not only extra warmth, but a cosy look and feel. We struggled with the Aga as it may have needed a service, but with a brand new oven and super sufficient heating, it's not really needed. The owners went above and beyond being helpful - from the pretty Christmas tree, the wonderful welcome gift to posting the things we left behind. Very grateful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "A wonderful cottage."

As beautiful in real life as the pictures show - if not more. Very relaxing and cosy warm which is so important. Excellent standard of upkeep. Very clean. Appreciated the little touches like the flowers, damson gin (delicious), biscuits and logs on arrival. Lovely linen and fresh towels. Electric oven was temperamental, with the oven not always getting hot. We used the slow cooker in the end and hob worked fine. There was no info on how to use the Aga, but after contacting owners they did offer to come out and show us which was kind and generous. We worked it out in the end though. It was no big drama and managed to cook and eat whilst there. Have to say this was one of the nicest cottages we’ve stayed in. Beautiful grounds, nicely decorated and furnished. We fully intend to book again and return. Location was lovely with gorgeous surroundings views. Hosts were friendly and sent a welcome message to us which was a nice touch. 100/100 fabulous little break.

Thank you for your lovely feed back. Glad you managed to work the Aga. We Will replace the cooker asap if it’s playing up. We love the cottage and so pleased you enjoyed your stay. See you again. Property Owner

  • "Lovely spacious cottage, in a beautiful part of the country."

The only thing I would not give full marks for is the 'No Dogs Upstairs' stipulation that we didn't know about until we got there. Many dogs, including assistance dogs and our own former guide dog, are used to being in the same area of the house as members of the family. I feel that this should be mentioned in the listing. But, this is the only thing that stopped us feeling that the cottage is perfect in every way. The village is delightful, the people friendly, and we found it an ideal base to explore this part of Shropshire.

Thank you for your feedback, We are very new to this and I have spoken with Sykes Cottages this morning and altered our listing. Saying that assisted dogs can go upstairs. And that other dogs is possible to stay down stairs. We are pleased that other than this you had a good time. Caroline & JP Property Owner
