  • "Stable cottage is a lovely cottage, very peaceful and quiet and great views of the surrounding countryside."

Very clean and bright, with everything you would need. The owners are very helpful and there if you need them. This is our fourth holiday at Stable cottage and would highly recommend.

  • "We had an excellent holiday at Stable Cottage."

Everything went very smoothly from booking, to arrival, to departure. Stable Cottage suited us beautifully. The house was very well equipped for our needs, parking was very straightforward and close to the cottage and, despite being deep in the countryside, we had access to wi-fi. It was a very quiet location, beautiful scenery, magnificent cows parsley in the hedgerows and an ever moving flock of sheep to watch from the windows. It suited us, a retired couple, perfectly. We travelled about a lot and found it easy to get onto the A5 and other major routes. Caroline, who oversaw the property, was very welcoming and around if needed but she was never intrusive. I was very pleased that, from our point of view, everything worked out so well.

  • "Would recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet homely stay with many interesting places to visit."

The hundreds of crocuses and daffodils on the lawn was a real treat.on this stay. One minor point that was not found on previous summer visits is that it requires draught excluder around the front door and window for early/late season use. Otherwise can only highly recommend it.

  • "We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our week away."

My partner and I, along with our dachshund, wanted a relaxing, 'escape to the country' style break and Stable Cottage provided us with just that. The location was extremely tranquil, with views over the grounds of the main house and surrounding fields. The accommodation had everything we needed and provided us with a very comfortable base. The cottage is next to the family/owners home but doesn't face the property, so didn't feel overlooked. Plus, on the few occassions we bumped into the family, they were friendly, approachable and lovely to talk to. We enjoyed walking around the Mere at Ellesmere (about 10 minutes drive away), and also visited Wrexham and Oswestry areas, which were both within easy reach of the cottage. I can highly recommend Stable Cottage, especially for anyone wanting a quiet, countryside escape. We will definitely be visiting again.

Very comfortable cottage. Lovely surroundings. Great base to explore Shropshire, Wales, castles and National Trust properties. We can recommend Ellesmere for the walks at lakes and canals. Good local shops for deli, butcher's, bakers at Oswestry and great wool shop! A real home from home.

  • "I enjoyed the cottage, it was traditional, even a little old-fashioned, but that leant it a homely air, it was like a home rather than a holiday cottage."

It was comfortable, cosy and serene. The owners were friendly and supportive. It is in a rural location, which may not suit everyone, but was perfect for our group. I would happily return.

Up to usual Sykes standards. Lovely beds. Good well equipped kitchen. Great location on lovely estate. Loads of walks for both ourselves and the doggy!!! Very safe location. Nice helpful owners. Recommended. One small point. Our daft dog is hyper sensitive to any noise. The house is surrounded by cows, sheep etc which kept our pooch awake for 1st couple of days. All in all a great stay and we would happily stay again.

The grounds were extremely well kept and we had fun with family doubles on the tennis court and sitting by the fishing lake watching the sheep. It was well located to visit Wrexham and Chester and I am sure we will visit again.
