  • "We were very pleased with our stay at Byne Brook Cottage."

We found it warm, spacious, comfortable, and ideal with a dog. The beds and bedding were of a high standard and overall the cottage was well equipped. The cottage is in a great location for all the attractions that Shropshire has to offer including pleasant walks from the front door. The welcoming cake and homemade apple juice were much appreciated as was being met on arrival by the hosts and a roaring fire. While it did not detract from our visit we did suggest to the hosts that the TV could be upgraded. Overall we would highly recommend and like many previous guests we will definitely plan to return.

It’s well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. A bigger television would be nice as when you’re sat on one of the settees you struggle to see it properly. What I think really needs updating is the Wi-Fi maybe a more uptodate modem. An enjoyable holiday was had by all of us.

  • "The cottage was really spacious and clean, the down side we found the cottage very cold in the mornings and evenings and we could not adjust the heating."

There was a wood burner but only heated the sitting room. Also we felt it could have done with a long mirror in the bathroom or bedroom, and also a chair in bedroom. Also found it difficult with plugs under the dressing table. Also there is no pub in walking distance, unless you are really fit, also you would have to walk along a fast busy road with no pavement certainly not suitable for 70 year olds even though we are fit. I don’t think we would return to the cottage. But lovely places to visit in the area.

In response to your feedback following your stay at Byne Brook Cottage, I take on board your commitments. Yes no pub now in walking distance, the Plough Inn at Wistanstow closed in January 2023 , it was walkable across the fields with just a crossing of the busy A49 road this was always explained to guest. I wish you had contacted me regarding the heating at the time of your stay , we are happy to help in any way. Caroline Property Owner

The cake’s on arrival and the apple juice were both excellent. The only slight negative was the lack of comfortable outdoor seating, after a while the wooden bench get’s uncomfortable and is a bit rickety. Otherwise everything else was great.

Rural but easily accessible and a perfect base for touring the area. Leominster with its many antique and curios shops Ludlow with its market, the castle and various brilliant eateries and Church Stretton with its galleries, delis and independent stores are within easy drive. Would recommend The Green Dragon in Little Stretton for good quality pub food - excellent service and dog friendly too. The cottage itself if very spacious with wrap-around gardens sporting a multitude of garden birds. You see bats in the evening too. The garden is perfect for your four legged friend or children as it is completely secure; our Border Terrier couldn't fit through the gate/fencing. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The owners live next door and were very friendly but not intrusive at all. Thanks to the owners for the lovely cakes, fresh milk and fresh apple juice (the best juice we've ever had!). Lovely little welcoming touches. The kitchen has everything you need (although a new frying pan would be handy! A VERY minor thing!) There are walks from the door in the surrounding countryside including down to a little ford a few mins walk from the house. We were very sorry indeed to leave and plan to re-book soon. We've been doing self-catering holidays for over 30 years now and this was very much one of the best and probably the hardest to leave. Thank you again to the owners for use of this wonderful spot for the week!

No clothes airer indoors. Well stocked with kitchen ware. (except for a beer bottle opener!) Beds comfortable, but on the firm side and linen clean. Showers not power showers but good enough. Caroline did explain when we arrived that it was 'padlocked' at this temperature but there was a log burner, which was just as well and it was a pure delight, but upstairs was a litle cold, couldn't wait to get into bed, but sadly ran out of logs on the last day.

The property

A spacious detached cottage ideally located on the owners’ 360 acre livestock and arable farm, in the scattered hamlet of Strefford, just two miles from the market town of Craven Arms, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This light and airy cottage provides superb accommodation, perfect for a get together with friends and family in the beautiful Shropshire Hills.

Enter the cottage into a large hallway ideal for storing walking gear and wellies, off which is a cloakroom with a basin and WC.

From the hallway is a large farmhouse-style kitchen with dining table to seat all guests, where you can catch up with the day's events over dinner.

A utility room with external door can be found off the kitchen which provides space for drying off your dog after a day exploring the lovely countryside surrounding the cottage!

The delightful sitting room with sumptuous leather sofas is a great place for watching a family film, and this room has the added benefit of doors to the garden.

Climb the stairs from the hallway to the charming first floor bedrooms, including the master room which has en-suite facilities, and the two further bedrooms offer versatile accommodation.

Outside, guests can relax in the enclosed lawned garden, cook a barbecue lunch, enjoy alfresco dining on a summer's evening or take a short walk to the local pub which will delight with home-cooked food and real ales.

Close by is the pretty market town of Craven Arms, beautiful Stokesay Castle and Wenlock Edge providing many lovely walks.

A wonderful cottage to be enjoyed all year round.
