  • "Simply perfect."

Between our 3 couples, we have stayed in a number of sykes properties over many years, this is the best. Spotlessly clean throughout, beautifully decorated with great taste. Stunning property in a beautiful location. Very high quality linen, interior, hot tub. The garden is beautifully thought out with hot tub, pizza oven, decking, fairy lights and seating. The kitchen is very high spec with all the equipment you could need. Lounge is perfect for a cosy night in around a roaring log fire. Bedrooms are decorated beautifully with very comfortable beds, quality linen and great wet rooms/bathrooms. Our hosts were superb, very welcoming and a great knowledge of the area, where to eat and drink etc. Very dog friendly. A dog wash in the garden and a boot room as you go in, to clean them down and dry them off. We could not find fault with this property at all. Higher than 5 star. Already looking to go back again.

  • "We stayed for a weekend at The Coach House Barn and it just wasn’t long enough."

The barn itself is just stunningly beautiful - from its decor to its setting. It’s incredibly comfortable and well proportioned. The outdoor area was just as comfortable as indoors and we took advantage of the hot tub and the pizza oven (thanks Wayne). Our hosts were superb and nothing was too much trouble. Quite simply - we loved it.

  • "A lovely weekend break with family at Coach House Barn."

The owners were really lovely and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The cottage was exactly as described, very comfortable and perfectly decorated. Ideally located for a few short trips out to the local area, and we took full advantage of the BBQ and the hot tub, which was a fabulous treat, especially for our grandchildren who loved it ! Perfect family weekend get together- will definitely be back.

  • "Had an amazing Easter weekend at The Coach House Barn!"

The property was beautiful and spotless throughout, cosy cottage feel but had all the modern amenities. Made use of the pizza oven on the sunny evenings we had which was impressive and the pizzas were delicious. The hot tub was such a treat, especially after doing some of the stunning walks around the area. The owners were absolutely lovely and so helpful before and during our stay. We will definitely be back! Thank you!!

Our granddaughters loved the hot tub - and the owners' dogs and cat! The owners are charming and helpful and we would thoroughly recommend this property.

A weekend spent eating good food, lazing around the cottage and enjoying the sun. The barns are decorated perfectly, Wayne and Julie couldn’t do enough to help us and really made us feel at home. So lovely! The area is gorgeous and peaceful, the perfect relaxing break! We will definitely be coming back.

  • "An absolutely perfect break… please see review below: Just back from a lovely stay at the Coach House Barn for New Year… simply WOW!"

The barn itself is total luxury, providing everything we needed and exceeded our expectations by a mile… the Church bells and festive lights twinkling in the garden on arrival were very magical. The owners Wayne and Julie are quite simply the loveliest couple, so welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Great village location next to a beautiful church and The Plough Inn a few mins down the road serve great food too. We very rarely stay in the same place twice but we cannot wait to return. Thanks so much for having us - we couldn’t recommend more highly. Lou & Paul

  • "For us this holiday cottage was all we wanted and more."

It offered quiet seclusion without complete wilderness and was so well placed to visit some stunning locations. We visted Ludlow on the first day and trecked up Carding Mill Valley on day 2. Both a short distance from the cottage. There is so much to do. We couldn't fit it all in and plan to return to take in more of the countryside and local history. The cottage was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean and well equipped. The bath in the bedroom was ridiculously comfortable! Tea and coffee was provided but you need to bring your own coffee pods and milk. The welcome hamper was such a nice touch on arrival. Wayne, our host, was so friendly and accommodating when we asked for help but gave us complete privacy at all other times. He recommended an excellent gasro pub near by in Little Stretton which provided the perfect hearty lunch after a morning of hiking up waterfalls. The village of Wistanstow itself is charming and perfectly quiet and rural - just what we like. The pub was closed when we were there but we didn't mind as we found the hot tub, the wood burner and Netflix or reading was all the relaxing entertainment we needed. We will definitely be back and have recommended it to several friends already.

The bedrooms and bathrooms were very luxurious, however it was still cosy and comfortable. We loved the hot tub - the outdoor area would be perfect for summer evenings. The locations was quiet and peaceful and the surrounding countryside is a completely hidden gem. Wayne and Julie the owners were very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely go back!

  • "8 of us, 2 grandparents, 2 parents and 4 kids under 7, booked the coach house at Wistanstow for a week."

We had a super time. The hot tub, the pizza oven, bbq and grassy area all had plenty of use. The cottage was roomy and comfortable and the facilities were all good quality. The owners, who lived next door, were friendly and helpful. Nice to hear the church bells ringing too. Only negatives were poor WiFi and a surcharge to use the bbq. We would definitely recommend this property and we will probably book again in future.

  • "Excellent facilities and location apart from the TV/WiFi which continually broke up when watching tennis and football, particularly during penalty shoot outs!"

local pub was closed most of the time, could only eat there twice in 7 days and church bells (very close to property) ringing every 15 minutes all through the night made sleeping very erratic

I am sorry you found the church clock chimes a bother to you. Previous guests comments have always been positive. The church is at the heart of the village with the property located on the outskirts of Wistanstow. The church is almost 1,000 years old with many of the residents having lived in the village for generations. We have many wonderful comments on the location and people coming to the area to visit the church and the rich history in the area. The tv is terrestrial and not WiFi so as you didn’t mention it to us at the time we’re unsure what the issue might have been and could have dealt with it right away. We’ve had no other complaints about the tv or WiFi, there is a dedicated WiFi access point in each cottage. Again we weren’t aware of your requirements for a local pub but there are several listed in the welcome pack which even lists the ones with beer gardens in these socially distanced times. As with many rural areas many pubs are still recovering from Covid even so our village pub is still open 4 days out of 7 and has been enjoyed by previous guests. Thank you for your feedback and if it helps us to improve the holiday experience of our guests we’re very grateful. Wayne & Julie Property Owner

  • "Could have done with more cutlery, cups, plates etc."

Only 1 per person so felt was constantly washing up items to reuse. Could have done with more hanging space in bedrooms for clothes and in bathroom for towels. Over the door hooks or coat hooks on back of door would have been useful. Otherwise lovely property, with excellent outdoor facilities, would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback, if it’s possible to enhance the holiday experience of our guests we will do so. Most people on holiday like to use the dishwasher rather than was up by hand. The dishwasher provided has a handy 15 minute fast wash cycle which is particularly useful and all tablets and liquids are provided. Each of the en-suites has a heated towel rail for up to 4 towels however we will look at adding an extra hook to the bathroom door. The annexe boot room also has coat hooks for eight or more coats. The cutlery/crockery quantity is standard requirement throughout Sykes cottages. Had you let us know we would have gladly provided you with more crockery and cutlery for you. We look forward to seeing you the next time you visit Shropshire. Property Owner
