A comfortable bed, zingy shower and plenty of space for the two of us and our greyhound Ollie. The cottage is in the hamlet of Woolston and was a lovely peaceful place to relax - there are lots of walks nearby (although some have stiles, so not always appropriate for long-legged hounds!) The little enclosed patio at the front was a nice place for morning tea, or evening wine, and Ollie loved having his breakfast out there too! Woolston is only a few minutes drive (down typical narrow Shropshire lanes) to the main road and a great location for exploring the nearby Long Mynd, and towns such as Bishops Castle and Ludlow. Thank you for a lovely stay.

It was very clean and comfortable with excellent facilities. The shower was particularly good and the beds allowed for an excellent nights sleep. It was lovely to sit out on the patio in the morning for breakfast and listen to the sounds of the countryside and in the evening it was great to make use of the BBQ. As it was all on one level it was quick to move from one room to another. The cottage was ideally placed to visit a good variety of interesting places and walks. The owners were welcoming and very helpful and quickly responded to any quieries that we had. As to improvements I can only say that it would be helpful to have a little more intruction as to what to do with the rubbish and recyling and what day it would be collected. It wasn't immediately obvious as to where the bins were or which ones to use for what. We would definitely be keen to visit again!

The property is ideally situated for exploring the shropshire area, although you have to negotiate some very narrow lanes to get to main road... fun when you meet a car coming in the opposite direction! Thankfully when we first arrived it was still daylight. Our dog was able to pop out onto the patio when needed as it securely fenced. Wistanstow is a small picturesque village in Shropshire situated approximately 2 miles north of Craven Arms and 6.5 miles south of Church Stretton. The village is named from the Anglo-Saxon saint Wigstan who was the grandson of the king of Mercia. The main lane running through the village is a Roman road, which ran between the Roman settlements and forts at Leintwardine and Wroxeter. This beautiful village is home to a community village shop and a local pub serving real ales from the local Wood Brewery which is situated just behind it. Wistanstow village is located on the edge of the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers plenty of walking opportunities. Visit the nearby small market town of Craven Arms, known as The Gateway to the Marches located between the beautiful medieval town of Ludlow and delightful Church Stretton.
This town is the main centre for Shropshire’s hill country and home to a variety of tea rooms, pubs and specialist shops. Carding Mill National Trust Centre has plenty of activities for children with shrot trails and longer walks and in the summer there is open water swimming in the reservoir. Other local attractions include walks on the Long Mynd, Shropshire Way and Jack Mitton paths, the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm and Stokesay Castle. Wenlock Edge and Corvedale Valley offer fine walks and the lovely Stokesay Castle, one of England's finest fortified manors, or the very popular Shropshire Hill Discovery Centre are well worth a visit. The surrounding area has some charming and historic houses, including a round house, thought to be a recognisable rest house for pilgrims travelling between Wigmore and Shrewsbury Abbeys and the fascinating 'Museum of Lost Content'. Winstantow is an excellent location for exploring this region of Shropshire.
