Plenty of space to dry clothes on a wet day. The peaceful location has a trade off with a very bumpy drive. We loved our stay. Accessibility……. Easy access for the mobile but slightly trickier for wheelchair users. Plenty of space to move around in lounge, bathroom and bedrooms. There is a step in the bathroom to get to the shower and sink. We had to run a power cable to the veranda to charge my Powerchair. The patio door has a big lip to get over. This is not a criticism but just a useful piece of information for someone with accessibility needs.

  • "Accommodation is lovely, location remote which for us during winter months was a bit too isolating - I imagine it is glorious in the Spring/Summer."

Road to the accommodation is very bumpy as described by the owner - not much fun in the wet and dark. We had Christmas there and it would have been nice to have had some decorations up to make it feel more festive. Accommodation was clean and warm - I would have liked access to cooker manual and larger bath towels, plus some cleaning products - though I appreciate owner has said I am on holiday so shouldn't clean :) - but you want to be able to wipe surfaces down whilst you stay there. It is a super location if you want peace and quiet - I bet is is wonderful during the warmer months sitting on the patio taking in the superb views.

  • "The location is absolutely stunning, set rurally down a very bumpy track with stunning views."

This holiday home has the potential to be outstanding, but unfortunately we did not feel the level of comfort that we had expected. The kitchen isn’t well equipped, not even a wooden spoon available or baking sheets. No scales either despite biscuit cutters being provided - you definitely couldn’t have made any! The cleanliness also was disappointing, with someone else’s dog hair found all over the property, and cobwebs dangling from the walls and ceilings over our heads as we sleep. The mop used to clean the place is left in the cupboard and really could have done with washing or changing for new, it was filthy and bits of string had come off and been left about the place. With the exceptionally cold weather we had we were very cold each morning as the heating wasn’t on some mornings until gone 9am, so we would wake in the night freezing and unable to do much about it. The owner did have it on in the evenings which was much appreciated, and some mornings it did come on earlier. The windows are so draughty that no amount of heating will really help during the cold weather we’ve had, of course it would be a big expense to replace them but they really need to be given the breeze that comes through the frame and the mould that is on the walls around them. The blanket provided in the main bedroom was also dirty, with dog hair all over it and other stains - it definitely hasn’t been washed between guests, but we had to use it to keep warm. I also think providing some hand soap and even just some antibacterial spray should be the very least you can expect. However, the availability of a washing machine and tumble drier was very useful and not something you often get so for that we are grateful. Also the provision of some milk, bread and biscuits was very welcoming, thank you. If the general cleanliness was improved and the kitchen better equipped I honestly think that this would be a highly rated holiday home and would be great for summer months.

Thank you for your feedback????. We will take your comments on board. Mike. Property Owner

There were the most fantastic views and a great location for exploring the area. It had a fab enclosed garden for our dog to run about in plus all possible mod cons you could ask. Our hosts were very kind and left a welcome pack of milk, bread, biscuits and eggs. The only things I’d say in the negative was the comfort of the double bed - it was rather hard - but that was a small issue. The property was also a little hard to find but we got further instruction from our kind host who guided us to the front door virtually. There is a long unmade road leading up to the property and I would suggest also maybe using the What Three Words location for the entrance to the unmade road which is bidder-moves-skylights

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cwm Gran Meadows, although we would have liked better weather to fully appreciate the attractiveness of the views from the decked area outside!"

As others have said, the one drawback is the rough track leading to the accommodation but the comfort of the "cottage" makes up for this. The owner is there if you need him but otherwise leaves you to yourselves. There was a welcome gift of milk, eggs and bread awaiting our arrival: very useful. Although situated in the heart of the countryside, Cwm Gran is well placed for visiting the area and very close to the M4 if you want to go further afield. We found almost everything we needed so far as kitchen equipment was concerned; a teapot would have been nice, but I suppose most people put teabags straight in their mug these days! There were several pyrex dishes for the microwave though none had lids, so cling film would be needed if you intend to cook that way. These are very minor niggles!!

There were some kitchen utensils which would have helped in our cooking, like a bigger cheese grater, a bigger caffitierre, and a tea pot. But all in all, it was very good. A relaxing place for a holiday. We wished we could have enjoyed the garden more had the weather been kinder. The decking area was fantastic. Thank you to Mr Lee who was flexible with our arrival time allowing us to access the property earlier. The one drawback were the instructions on how to get there. The turning off from the Llanharry road is tricky and needs a map.

About the location

LLANHARRY

Bridgend 9 miles; Cardiff 15 miles.

The village of Llanharry is situated close to the M4 motorway, between the town of Bridgend and the capital city of Cardiff. Llanharry has a church called St. Illtud, which was re-built in 1867-8, and two pubs, The Bear Inn, which was a school in the 19th century and The Fox and Hounds, known to date back to the Tudor times. Very close by are the historic villages of Llantrisant and Talbot Green. Set on a hilltop, Llantrisant offers visitors wonderful cobbled streets to wander and some fascinating buildings and Talbot Green has a variety of shops and restaurants. Just five miles away is the traditional village of Heol-y-Cyw, offering a church, rugby ground, pub and shop, and slightly further north is the town of Tonyrefail, which has selection of shops, pubs and churches. The small town of Bridgend is close by with its wonderful designer outlet village, so shopping sprees are a definite item to add to your days out, and within reach is Cardiff where shopping, theatre visits, rugby and football matches can be enjoyed.
