  • "We had a lovely stay."

Easy good hot shower, very comfortable bed, very clean relaxed property. Just the ticket for two oldies who were endeavouring to complete the 870 mile long Welsh Coastal path. I am pleased to announce that Steve and I finished the Coast Path on the 23rd September and over the two weeks we were in Wales walked about 140 miles. So thank you for a lovely comfortable stay. Onward and upward, maybe next year we will get started on the Yorkshire coastal path…………..

  • "An excellent cottage owned by a lovely, welcoming couple."

We wanted a’get away from it all’ holiday and this met our criteria perfectly. It is situated on a farm about 4 miles from Cowbridge, which is a lovely town with good restaurants, cafes and all the usual shops. It is also a half-hour run to Porthcawl with its expansive beaches, marina and seaside beauty. The cottage itself is almost brand new and expertly converted from a farm building. It is well kitted out to give you a cosy, relaxing holiday far from the madding crowd!

  • "We rented both Poppy Cottage and intially Ash Tree cottage, but then Lorraine offered us the larger Snowdrop cottage for no extra charge so that our group could be next-door to each other."

We were there for a week, and we were very impressed by the both cottages and the contents provided. (Lots of excellent cooking equipment!) The cottages are great for people shielding at the moment who want to go on holiday with extended family, as you can have your own inside space and lots of shared outside space. The location was great for visitng the local area and the Gower peninsula. We were able to eat outside every day, as there is a covered space opposite the cottages (which was not full of cars while we were there). Lorraine was extremely thoughtful and helpful, and easy to communicate with. A great holiday, we would certainly go back and recommend it to others.

  • "Poppy Cottage was a lovely place to stay in these uncertain times."

Great care has been taken with all the cleaning and one cottage is not in use to assist social distancing. Lorraine is delightful and a great help. We had extreme heat and did find opening the French doors difficult, not sure if they need some oil, or we didn't have the knack!! The cottage is beautifully spacious and light, and had everything we needed for a great week and it was so good to be peaceful.

  • "We hadn’t thought about a holiday in this area of the U."

    K. and usually go camping at this time of year. Most places were reported to be very busy this year due to COVID 19 restrictions, so we booked this cottage. The cottage itself was very comfortable and clean and Lorraine, the owner was very welcoming and we were not disappointed. The cottage is ideal for couples. There is a shared courtyard and garden which has the sun all day and is very tranquil. We brought our bicycles and were able to park them undercover in the covered barn. We did not use the car at all during our stay and thoroughly explored the Vale of Glamorgan, the country single track lanes were very quiet and ideal for cycling. We visited Cowbridge and the Physic garden with medicinal plants from the 18th century, Llantwit Major and it’s dramatic beach. We travelled along the coastline to St Donat’s past Atlantic College where the likes of Charlie Chaplin and John F Kennedy stayed, visited Dunraven Castle, Ogmore by Sea (a peaceful spot when we visited, but made headlines due to a mass brawl post-Lockdown), Ogmore Castle, Ewenny Priory, Merthyr Mawr Warren, which is a beautiful natural area and climbed the Big Dipper (the second largest sandune in Europe), Porthkerry Country Park, Barry and Barry Island (the day before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge). The closest beach is Monknash, a rocky beach with a footpath and a walk to get down to it, but it is well worth the effort. We also enjoyed watching the kart racing at Llandow Circuit nearby. Had we have been there longer, we would have perhaps visited Cardiff and Penarth. It was lovely to return to the cottage after a busy day sightseeing. The only downside for us was a slightly unstable internet connection and poor phone signal at times, but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment.
