"Wonderful Cottage Clean and spacious Beautiful garden areas Perfect for exploring local area."
"This was a good location from which to explore the area - the host was very welcoming and there to sort any issues out."
Would stay again Sarah and Duncan Straw
"It is with regret that we will never stay at this property again."
The location is great, and everything on paper seemed fine...but then we arrived. While the owner let us in an hour early, it was clear that the house needed a deep clean, and it was (is?) just not fit for purpose as a holiday home. Thin, office-type blinds rather than curtains in every bedroom (our first job on holiday was to go out and buy black-out blinds), the kitchen was filthy, and the open fireplace that was boasted about on the website was out of use (we were only informed when we arrived...on that, expect to receive an informal (probably not Sykes-approved) set of instructions about what you should and should not do in the property when you arrive, including not to use the fireplace (which the owner has since said broke the day before we arrived). There was insufficient crockery for a couple, never mind a family, no wheelie bins (you had to text the owner for him to collect them), a kitchen bin (in the height of Summer), and the beautiful views that are promised on the website are in fact of a dilapidated caravan full of garden rubbish and a garden that is in desperate need of TLC. This house has potential, but is simply not fit to be rented out for £1000+ now, or for the foreseeable future. If you want to see my evidence, have a look at my photos on Trip Advisor. Really poor. Sorry.
"Very little information regarding the alarm system took ages to turn it off ."
We could not set it all week ..shower over flowed when used so we stopped using that .. No curtains only blinds so very bright in all the bedrooms by 5am ..not great .. Up berfore 6 every day ..nice house though Wales was fantastic and we will be coming back again soon.
"Sykes cottages were amazing, I had a few changes which they dealt with brilliantly."
The cottage and decor itself was beautiful, the owners were great too, very obliging and helpful. Would definitely return and recommend.
"Lovely, comfortable cottage which is well located for Cardiff and the Vale."
It has a large, enclosed garden and is clean and beautifully decorated inside. Well-equipped, including a dishwasher and washing machine, the under-floor heating and log burner were particularly welcome as we visited in winter. You will find a nice garden centre across the road for lunch and a welcoming pub with a good menu within walking distance. The owner was attentive but not intrusive and the whole family (including dogs) enjoyed the stay.
"Our stay at Oaktree Farm was lovely."
Location was easy to find but may benefit from a house name sign at the drive entrance. It is a wonderful spacious and homely cottage. It was warm, comfortable, clean and very peaceful. We used Uber into the city, that cost £14 for 4 people, which was very useful. We ate at Wenvoe Arms which was a lovely village pub easily walking distance in approx 10 minutes. We also enjoyed Sunday Lunch at the garden centre cafe just across the road, again easily walking distance. Duncan was on hand to greet us and make sure we were comfortable, very friends and approachable. We hope to return in the Autumn.
