The owner Pat was on hand when we needed her and very helpful and understanding when a member of our party needed to visit hospital. House well equipped and perfect for our needs as crafters wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

  • "Great holiday, loads of space for the family."

Lovely garden which needs some photos taken. Great location, easy walk into town but maintaining a country feel. Would definitely go back. Only gripe is if you are a light sleeper the blinds are light and bright and you cannot sneak about due to the squeaky floor. Mind you we are used to blackout blinds. Wifi is fine, kept the teenagers happy. No smart TV so if you can’t live without Netflix bring a device.

Home away from home. Had everything we needed. Bit of confusion over recycling. The card says cans and glass bottles in a coloured bag but the bag was not lifted because it had glass bottles. Please amend your guidance. That apart we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back. Really handy for the town which is beautiful.

  • "We left the owners some very detailed feedback This property is not accurately ..."

We left the owners some very detailed feedback This property is not accurately described by Sykes I will elaborate on your complaints page with photos Essentially the property is very tired with few updates in the last 15 years - floor boards in each room and on landing creak so everyone is disturbed if anyone gets up - Curtains are not on each bedroom window so light pous through from 3 30 am and blinds are inaccurrate - rooms are hot and stuffy and sash windows are locked completely on some and only open a few inches on others - There is no side terrace -The front terrace is full of weeds and overlooked - Garden is not tended - no bedside table in master bedroom - beds apart from master bed very uncomfortable - main fridge freezer in utility is situated so vegetable drawer cannot fully open - Grouting around showers peeling and discoloured - Small tv with no smart mechanism No plunger or facility for coffee making Tap dripping in kitchen constantly Old toaster has faulty element This property need major overhaul

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I am disappointed that these guests could not engage with me to resolve these issues as I live on the site. Communication would have helped this situation. The whole house has oak and pine floor boards so they will creak at times. The blinds and or curtains are not blackout curtains. All windows open a 1/3 but the design of the arched windows does not allow further opening as the property in was built in1865. The garden weeds have been neglected for the past 2 weeks as the gardeners father is seriously ill in hospital and he has been unable to work. The vegetable drawer can fully open if the fridge is angled. The toaster could have been replaced and I was unaware of the dripping tap until now, so the plumber is sorting it out. I do hope the guests enjoyed the location in beautiful Abergavenny. Property Owner

Pat was so helpful, not just for the accommodation itself, but with advice and recommendations for our walks and stay. The cottage was ideally laid out; as our family group incorporated four generations, the size and layout allowed us to find our own spaces. Set just a short walk from the town’s amenities, this was an ideal base for exploring the town and surrounding area. I can definitely see us returning.

We found that it was just right. Your advert did say that there was a log fire so we were a little disappointed to find it replaced however the central heating made up for it. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and really made us feel welcome, thankyou, we will certainly be back if we can.

A little bit of maintenance is required. The condenser drier is not working. Bulbs need replacing. Master bedroom bed needs a headboard. Master ensuite windows desperately need blinds. Whole of the wooden flooring upstairs needs screwing down, very noisey. Apart from these issues, it's a nice house conveniently situated in a pleasant town.

  • "Rosehill - with its 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms was a great property for our mixed family group of 8 people."

It was comfortable and private, and very well-appointed. It provided an excellent base for us to explore the wider region, and all the facilities of Abergavenny itself were within a very short walking distance or 3/4 minute drive (in the case of Waitrose!). The instruction pack was very comprehensive and the welcome pack of goodies was much appreciated. The owner was very friendly and she invited us to contact her at any time for any reason whatsoever; she lived in an adjacent property but was not intrusive in any way. Our only criticisms are very minor in comparison to our overall satisfaction with the property: - We would have appreciated a bit more cutlery and crockery. - We found one of the beds (a double) to be a little uncomfortable, compared to what we are used to - but beds are, of course, a very personal preference. - Unfortunately one of the electric showers failed. We regarded this as "one of those things" and basically worked around the issue. Being so busy, we didn't mention it to the owner for a few days, and when we did she said that if only we had told her sooner, she would have sorted it out for us (said in a concerned way...not a rude way!). - A barbeque would have been a nice addition. However, we brought our own with us and the owner was happy for us to use it.

The house was very spacious and in a quiet location at the top of a private drive but close to the centre of Abergavveny, which is a lovely town with many individual shops, bars and eating places. We found many places to visit in the area and especially enjoyed the Gliffaes Country House Hotel and arboretum, the Sugar Loaf Vineyard, the Walnut Tree Inn, Tretower Court and Castle, and canal boat hire at the Goytre Wharf, which was a wonderful way to appreciate the amazing countryside. I found the initial communication was very hard work. On arrival no welcome pack. We are gluten free and were obviously placed into the too difficult box. There was a sign on the table on a basket saying welcome pack, but nothing for us. The house was dirty. The curtains were unclean and stained. The upstairs bathroom smelt of damp and there was damp on the ceiling . No wine glasses, had to go to Waitrose and buy my own. The upstairs floorboards made of pine, made such a loud sound and woke everyone up. The showers urgently need upgrading . Some of the beds need replacing. The house just needs some TLC and money spent on it. I would definitely not return !

Lovely towels and plenty of space for us all to sit to relax and eat. The owner was very friendly and allowed us to park our car early on arrival and to leave it later when we left which was a great help. The only negative was the shower in the ensuite room wasn't very powerful and the main bathroom only had a bath and no shower over it which meant sharing the ensuite shower. We had a lovely basket of wine, Welsh cakes and biscuits which was very welcome.

The location was ideal, once we got used to the extremely steep driveway! We did however I find the lack of carpets upstairs and the rather uncomfortable beds (creaked every time you moved) made it very noisy at night. The cooking facilities also (in particular the double combination oven) were overly challenging for a holiday let and there were was a lack of instructions on them.
