“Booking agent I spoke to was extremly helpful and the whole process was very easy.”

All the info provided was relevant. The accommodation was of a very high standard indeed, especially the kitchen. Everywhere was well planned and everything had been thought of, e.g. plenty of towels, extra blankets, torches, fly swat, sky TV, plenty of firewood, lovely welcome basket!! The only drawback was that the beds were very very bouncy and soft and therefore we did not sleep very well as they were so different from our beds at home! Not quite as we would have expected from the rest of the accommodation. However, we had a really great time. Thanks to all concerned.

“What an amazing place to stay, the cottage was perfect and in a great location for exploring the Brecon Beacons.”

The hot tub was such a bonus after a long day's climbing and the proprietors were lovely as was the hamper they kindly left us. Great little pub which served fantastic food just a mile away. Dog friendly, highly recommend .The walking can be tough but so worth it and the four mile waterfall walk a must ...amazing.

“Lovely rural spot.”

No-one looking over you at the back where the hot tub was. The Welsh butter in the hamper was delicious. We appreciate we were on a farm but there was a lot of fly's particularly at the double patio doors (not sure why) & before you know it they would be all over the Kitchen/diner. Internet was slow - either due to the ISP provider or an rural setting (we expected this as we are of urban folks) Overall we would give 9/10 great break.

There was everything we needed, including a separate heating system for the utility room so we could dry out our wet walking gear. The hot tub was fab, and our hosts were really helpful. The location is quite remote but easily accessible, and was fantastically peaceful. We will definitely be staying here again.

“A beautiful holiday home in a stunning location.”

The house is very spacious and well equipped. The owners are extremely helpful and offered advice on local walks etc. We all had a wonderful holiday and thoroughly enjoyed, especially the children, as they had so much open space to run and explore. The hot tub was also an added bonus! We will definitely return.

Perfect location for biking and walking. The baby lambs were delightful. Hot tub was well used by all and wood supplied when needed. We also enjoyed the wine and home made marmalade. Nice size accommodation for 2 families.

We all loved the hot tub and watching the baby lambs out of the back garden window. The home was roomy and comfortable. The owners were accommodating and friendly. Thanks for a fantastic experience.

We fetch our dogs with us and they loved it. The owners were great and Nick came regularly to see if we were ok and fetched us more wood for the hottub which got used very often. The town was a short walk away and everyone was really friendly. There's plenty of trails around for the hikers out there and the waterfalls were a drive away. Would definitely recommend and would go back again.

The owners were lovely and there were plenty of walking activities. The house and garden surpassed our expectations and was extremely well equipped and clean. The only downside is that after using the hot tub we all developed a bacterial skin infection. We have been assured it was properly cleaned after contacting the owners. Shame as it would otherwise have been the perfect weekend.

“Great clean holiday home with all the facilities you need, including pots and pans.”

Everything was provided for a comfortable stay, including laundry capsules and dryer sheets. It’s the little touches like those that made a big difference to our family with little children. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by a very kind basket of goodies. Bedding and towels smelled clean and fresh. Every room had a clothes stand and drawers. Loads of space for everyone to enjoy. Loved the sheep in the pen outside. The landlord was a lovely and friendly man who popped his head round everyday to see if we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this place to anyone. This review does not do justice to the house or the gorgeous surrounding area. Thank you for a sensational family holiday.

“I've rented many holiday lets over the years - this one is up there with the very best!”

The log fired hot tub was wonderful and they even thought to provide unbreakable glasses so a post walk glass of wine could be enjoyed in the tub. Home made cake in the welcome pack was quickly demolished by hungry walkers. Nick and Janie clearly want your stay to be comfortable and have thought of everything you might need. They are available in the Farmhouse across the road and successfully manage the tricky balance of being helpful while not being intrusive. Perfect place for a family with a securely fenced garden for the dog and plenty of parking.

The property

Herdman's Hideaway rests in the heart of Brecon Beacons, 1.5 miles from the edge of Brecon town and local pub.

There is the National Park, Waterfall county, Hay on Wye, Builth Wells, castles, UNESCO World Heritage site of Blaenavon nearby.

Ideal for a family to visit, or friends, this retreat offers comfort and relaxation from the get-go, with refreshing views and a light airy space to enjoy year-round.

Renovated to a high standard, this bungalow comprises a country-cottage kitchen/diner with a table for eight people, and a sofa where you can relax with a warm cup of tea.

There is a utility area across the way housing a washing machine and a dryer, also offering room for bikes should you be touring the location.

Doors open out to the beautiful patio, which includes furniture, and a raised lawn area; fully enclosed with gated access onto the farmyard.

There are patio doors in the dining area and also a single door from the utility.

When the night draws in, the lounge is a fabulous place to unwind, brought together by sumptuous sofas, and a woodburning stove, perfect on those cooler evenings.

A family bathroom hosts both a bath and a shower, whilst four bedrooms have been thoughtfully designed, two are accompanied by en-suite shower rooms.

Views of Brecon Beacons and Pen Y Fan are sure to inspire you, and luckily Herdman's Hideaway is ideally situated to walk/cycle the Brecon Beacons, revealing miles of walking countryside.

The Brecon Beacons National Park offers the avid walker and keen cyclist scenery at any time of the year, with rolling countryside and valleys and the wild beauty of waterfalls and caves.

The park is home to traditional market towns, castles, ancient monuments and miles of canal where many pretty walks can be enjoyed.

For the less energetic, pony trekking, canal cruising or the local Brecon Steam Railway are a must.

Travel a little further to Hay-on-Wye, for a well-rounded holiday experience.
