  • "A very cosy and comfortable home with a beautiful view!"

! Amazing location - can watch the sea all day long and perfect for a daily dip. Great having a parking space right outside too. Can also recommend the Ship - they serve great food and there's a very helpful corner shop just a few minutes walk away. Would just say - you need to bring towels - the information is contradictory on the website - but they weren't provided. Would love to come back here - in every season!.

  • "This is a really comfortable and cosy place to stay."

It has a good kitchen and an excellent shower. The main living/bedroom is well lit and well provided. We really liked it and would stay again. It would get 11/10 if there had been a pint glass for my beer

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad that you were comfy and cosy in March and hope you will return when the weather is better. By that time we should be able to provide a pint glass! Property Owner

It is in an excellent location only a short walk from the beach and the village facilities. We enjoyed exploring the lovely beaches and coves of this beautiful area. Aberporth has two very pleasant beaches - one with lifeguards, the other suitable for dogs. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We will definitely be making a return visit.

Loads of cobwebs could do with a deep clean in between change over. There was still dishes in the dishwasher from previous couple and rubbish in bathroom bin. The change over time is ridiculous 4pm to get in vacate by 9am lose a day.

  • "A comfortable cottage, nice and warm, plenty of hot water, good shower, well equipped kitchen, ideal location, only downside was the stairs to the ground floor to the one and only toilet."

This property is not suitable for people with mobility problems. Bad stain on carpet from previous guests. Info on Sykes site say one bedroom with sitting room, this I class as 2 rooms. It should read 1 bedroom with sitting area, this is very MISLEADING. On returning one day we found the radiator in the bathroom was leaking, we spent one & half days mopping up the water with towels before the plumber came. This is not very good for people like us aged 80 years. This caused a lot of problems that we decided to come home 2 days early. The property was not very clean when we arrived there but it was left in a clean state on our departure.

We are greatly concerned if our accommodation falls short of visitors expectations as we have many satisfied guests who return each year. We think that the description and photographs make it clear that the bed sitting room is upstairs and the toilet downstairs and other reviewers have drawn attention to this layout. We are sorry about the spillage on the carpet by a previous visitor, which was not notified to us and which has now been cleaned professionally. The leaking radiator was most unfortunate - you alerted us to this leak on Sunday and we were pleased that the plumber was able to replace the valve the next day. We understood that it was always your intention to leave on Thursday and that your departure was not related to the leak which has been mended three days before. We are very glad you enjoyed the position and facilities at Beach Retreat. Property Owner

  • "The property was well equipped with plenty of utensils and dishes."

Some items in the bottom drawer had been put away dirty and needed to be washed. Trays in oven had not been cleaned properly by previous guests and were sticky with burnt on grease and were unusable. Ground floor has the utility room with separate fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and toaster. Bathroom with toilet sink and walk in shower and also the kitchen with table and chairs. Stairs up to the bedroom/lounge area a bit steep and open on one side; you need to duck your head on way down if you are tall. Great views from the upstairs windows on both sides. The property was located at the end of a narrow road with a grassed area in front overlooking the beach cove below. Easy walk down to get to the beach. Beautiful location.

The kitchen was very well equipped. There was lots of space for food and it was good to have both a freezer and fridge. The local shops were a short walk up the road and we had lovely views over Aberporth and the beaches from the upstairs windows. The bed and seating in the lounge were very comfortable and overall we had a very relaxing holiday.

We particularly enjoyed the powerful shower. Great to have a huge television complete with SKY, especially as the weather was rather stormy. We were cosy and warm whilst watching the waves crashing against the rocks in the bay. The bed was excellent too. A perfect winter break and we did get out and about between between the downpours.

We are delighted that you were comfortable and enjoyed your holiday despite some stormy weather. Aberporth can be enchanting in all weathers. Thank you for your lovely feedback. Property Owner

  • "Lovely place, lovely view from kitchen IF the hedges out the front were not in the way to spoil the view!"

Toilet down stairs not good at night but managed. Was unable to get sky, it needed the owners password, phoned coast and country who said they would pass it over, heard nothing, then txt agent, then again no reply. Niggly things really, so would definately return to the beach retreat as it is a very beautiful place to unwind.

Thank you for your positive feedback - thank goodness that the council’s hedge only obstructs the sea view from one room. We are sorry that you didn’t see the Sky PIN code which is shown on the front page of the “Welcome to Beach Retreat” sheet. Even so, the agent should have passed on your request and failed to do so, for which we can only apologise. We hope you will return to Beach Retreat in due course. Property Owner

The only thing for me was no welcome pack, after a long drive it would of been nice to have milk, even just to make a cup of tea just lacked that finishing touch but apart from that it was perfect! We will definitely return.

I am really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday at Beach Retreat and found it comfortable. Aberporth is such a lovely village with so many attractive walks nearby. Had a few issues with sky TV which owners fixed immediately. Couple of decent pubs in village and lots of nice coat walks. Saw dolphins and a few seals in the bay. Only negative is the ridiculous check in time of 6 and check out of 9. This is not needed and if extra time is needed for covid then you should stagger the cottages. I.e cottage with a late check in gets late check out !

Although the local restaurants/pubs weren’t open, the local takeaway was very reasonable. Met a few local people who were all very friendly. - A lovely place.

The area has some lovely beaches and walks. We saw dolphins and a variety of seabirds. The cottage itself had everything we needed, was clean and everything as advertised. Due to Covid restrictions there was no literature about local places to eat etc. Maybe a page could be put online, although we realise, as we are only just coming out of lockdown, that the information will change over the coming months. Wifi was not great, as maybe expected in such a rural area, but as we needed a break maybe it was for the best. Thoroughly enjoyed being there, and would book again.

The property

Situated directly above the sandy beach of Aberporth and with superb sea views, this Cardigan Bay studio cottage makes a perfect coastal retreat for two.

Steps lead down to the beach for an evening stroll or there are benches on the village green where you can watch the fishermen bringing in their catch or just enjoy the sun set. Cardigan Bay coastline is part of the All Wales Coast Path and there are some truly spectacular scenery and walks from the door.

There are two sandy beaches in Aberporth and the locals say one of them is always sheltered.

Aberporth itself has welcoming pubs, shops and eateries.

If you can tear yourself away, a little further along the coast are more coves and beaches such as Mwnt, Tresaith, Llangrannog and Cwmtydu.

The coastal towns of Cardigan, New Quay and Aberaeron have a larger selection of eateries and a good selection of shops, galleries and pubs.

About the location

ABERPORTH

Tresaith 1 mile; Penbryn 3 miles; Llangrannog 5.5 miles; Cardigan 7 miles; Poppit Sands 8.5 miles; New Quay 15 miles.

Aberporth is a small town that sits on the southern edge of Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion, renowned for it's fabulous beaches that attract visitors, all year round. There are two beaches that sit between the rocky headlands of Trecregyn and Fathgarreg, separated by a smaller rocky outcrop. Uniquely, at low tide they interlink, but at high tide, they create individual beaches and create great rock pools for the children to play in and explore. Small boats, canoes, and kayaks can easily be launched from the north beach, while the south beach lends itself beautifully for a spot of sunbathing. Close to the beaches, there is a small seaside café, fish and chip shop, and a friendly pub serving good food and drinks. In the village itself, there is a range of shops and takeaway stores. Nestled directly on the famous Wales Coast Path, between the towns of Cardigan in the south, and Llangrannog and New Quay to the north, it is a great base for exploring this glorious stretch of coastline. Venture to Cardigan and discover the town’s many shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, and bustling markets. Visit the nearby themed farm park, spot dolphins from the coastal path, or take a boat trip for the chance to see them up close! Aberporth is a great base for exploring this wonderful part of West Wales, with something to do for all the family.
