  • “Great cottage.”

Lovely owners. Many special, personalised touches that made us feel welcome - food hamper, flowers, bedtime chocolates and much, much more. No hesitation at recommending this holiday let as something special.

The property

Two minutes drive from the sleepy little harbour town of Burry Port in South Wales, is where you will find nestled into the hillside of Y Graig, the comfortable holiday cottage known as No 1.

One of just three cottages, No 1 Tanybanc Cottage overlooks Burry Port and it’s pretty harbour.

The elevated position of the property allows superb views across the estuary and to the well-known Gower Peninsula beyond.

Burry Port has often been documented as ‘ The Jewel of the Crown’ within Carmarthenshire.

The cottage is furnished and equipped to a high standard and has a feeling of comfort, whether 2, 4 or 6 people are staying there.

A large open plan lounge/dining area with a log burning stove becomes a warm and cosy room during the cooler months.

In warmer times, with the patio doors opening directly from the lounge on to the front decked area, it all becomes very light and airy, a G&T in hand it is the perfect place to watch the sun setting over Burry Port and it’s coast line.

Just off the lounge/dining room is a modern kitchen fitted out with ample cupboards, a full size electric oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, full size refrigerator and kitchen items too numerous to mention.

Adjoining the kitchen is a moderately sized utility area where you will find a full size freezer, washing machine and a separate tumble dryer.

Upstairs, the pretty blue and white master bedroom, shows off a double aspect view of the sea, harbour, and beyond, all of which can be seen from lazing in the king size bed.

The twin room also with double aspect views, is overlooking the elevated rear garden and across to the sea and Burry Port light house.

The 3rd bedroom has views across the valley and woodland.

The bathroom has a Jacuzzi bath and an overhead electric power shower.

There is ample private parking for 3 cars but because of the 12 steps leading up to the actual cottage itself, this property is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Less than 10 minutes away is the magnificent 7 mile long white sandy beach of Cefn Sidan.

Also local to Burry Port, is The Pembrey Country Park, where you will find an array of activities from horse riding, nature trails, tobogganing and an all year round dry ski slope, for those of you who have always wanted to give skiing a go!

For the energetic, encircling Burry Port, is the 28 mile award winning Millennium cycle and coastal path.

The owners of No 1 Tanybanc Cottage will be more than happy to help arrange for the private hire of cycles.

For the golfing enthusiast, there are a number of championship courses in the area, one of which is only 5 minutes away.

The Machynys Spa Golf Club Bar and Restaurant is just a 15 minute drive from the cottage.

Burry Port is within easy reach of Swansea and the famous “Mumbles”, Kidwelly Castle, Ffos Las racecourse with all year round horse racing.

A little further on is the lovely town of Carmarthen.

In the opposite direction on the Gower is Rhossilli Bay and it’s beautiful sandy beach together with restaurants and cafes, all of these are an easy drive from No 1.

However, If you would prefer a more relaxing form of transport, than why not jump on one of our frequent trains passing through Burry Port Station, which is a mere 5 minutes away from No.1!

There is so much more to see and do in this beautiful part of South Wales, we are certain that No 1 is the place from which you will want to plan your next holiday at this cottage.
