  • "A glorious property in a lovely situation."

Newport is a quaint unspoilt village with a lot of amenities. We had a most enjoyable stay.

  • "We had a wonderful time at chandler's retreat."

my mother lives in the village and we used this lovely property as a base to visit her in august. everything on the property and in the house is new and done to a very high level. the views are beautiful and the sunsets in particular long and stunning. we particularly appreciated the information binder with house specifics and local information provided therein. i spent my summers in newport and still found the book invaluable. all around it was a magical few days. its location is truly ideal and we can't wait to return next year.

  • "V clean. Warm throughout."

Have stayed in Newport many times and this is one of the best properties we have stayed in. Views are great from bedrooms, dining area and outside area

  • "This is a lovely modern house with great sea views - the website photos don't really do it justice."

Beautiful views of the sunrise from the bedrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped. The bedrooms are well furnished with comfortable beds and quality bed linen. We were a family group of six adults and the house was perfect for us - I did feel with another two adults it would have been rather too cosy although the house does sleep 8 people. Lovely walks from the house along the coastal path that runs right in front of the house. A short walk to the centre of town with an excellent selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs serving good food. We particularly liked the Castle Inn and Blas at Fronlas for food; I'd suggest booking ahead as even off season we only just managed to get a booking.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Chandler’s Retreat."

House is really smart, well decorated, new, very clean and fantastically well appointed. The seafront location and therefore the view is fantastic. 3 of the bedrooms have a Juliet balcony or large window which really make the most of the view. The owners were great as well, super friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again in the future. Also short (15mins) walk up into Newport where there were a few pubs (Golden Lion was our favourite), great butchers and a couple of really nice delis/cafes. Thanks for a great family holiday.

  • "Lovely house and great location for the beach and walks along the coast."

It is a shame the house is so surrounded and overlooked by other houses.

  • "The house was very comfortable, clean and well furnished with tasteful decor."

The property itself was fine. However we did think the owners failed to provide a number of fundamentals. We had to buy our own toilet paper after 2 days as only one roll was provided per loo, totally inadequate for the size and composition of the party. Similarly we had to buy dishwasher tablets as only 3 were provided, again inadequate for the length of stay and party numbers. Also we had to buy laundry liquid for the washing machine because there was none provided! Considering the amount of money we spent for the house, over £4000, we should not have had to do this. It was a bit mean that these basics were not provided by the owners.

  • "The property has amazing views, but it may be worth telling others that it is in very close proximity to residential properties - next door and behind."

This caused unexpected noise and children playing in our driveway. Bin collected/recycling in very confusing - the literature in the guest information book is misleading. The owner sent us a separate text to confirm the actual arrangements.
