Would have been good to have a book detailing rubbish collections etc and kitchen is missing some obvious things such as a sieve, potato masher, steamer and no casserole size pot for stews / Bolognese etc.. But we worked round this. This was our first holiday since May 2021 and we had been looking forward to it for a while so we were very disappointed to find that the property was right across the road from a dairy farm (which wasn’t mentioned in the description). This meant that we couldn’t have bedroom windows open at night (which was needed as very warm) as milk tankers were turning up at 5.30am with their engines running and the farmer was constantly shovelling cow manure and banging the tractor shovel on the ground, dog barking etc.. Not the relaxing environment we hoped for. My elderly father had been very unwell and really needed the rest but didn’t get it. They were also spreading so the air was thick with the smell of slurry so a BBQ wasn’t enjoyable (we live in the countryside so used to smells but this was almost like we were eating it) and with that came lots of flies so we couldn’t leave windows / back door open as the house was then full of flies. We did find it odd that there were several plug in air fresheners when we arrived and now we realise why.. It’s a lovely property but we wouldn’t have stayed had we known the situation, so people need to know what to expect. Thank you for your feedback, as owners we would like to continually improve what the cottage can offer our guests to enjoy their stay. In reference to your points we would like to address them separately. * Regarding the rufuse collection within the welcome email that was sent prior to your visit we outlined all collection days. * As owners we try to equip the cottage with the essentials that are outlined to us by Sykes, we believe the cottage has adequate kitchen equipment however if such things are required above this we would expect guests to bring these to accommodate any special needs they may have. * The Cottage is in a rural location and one of it unique selling points is that its opposite a working farm which many of our guests appreciate as it gives them a feeling of country living. * As the cottage is in a rural location we as owners cannot control any third party sounds or smells, this we believe is detailed in the terms and conditions when booking. * Air fresheners are our personal choice as we believe they add a homely feel to the cottage and not to mask any rural smells. We hope that all future guests will look at current feedback received and will look forward to having a beautiful stay at Dalton Cottage. A massive thank you to the helpful hosts who ensured our stay was pleasant and helped us with any enquiries we had. Reviewed by EnamFeb 2022 "There was nothing wrong with the property." It was really nice and had everything and more you could need. However the dairy farm is very noisy, especially from 3am when the cows are very noisy and the milk truck arrives to collect the milk. Also the jack russell on the farm would come over and bark at us and our dogs every time we went in and out the property. It would come over and stand in the front garden and bark when we were inside. This did make us leave 2 days early. Reviewed by AmyOct 2021 "Lovely comfortable house, with plenty of parking." Quiet area with some nice local beaches. Reviewed by JulieAug 2021 "The cottage has obviously been recently renovated and listed." It has been done to a really high standard. We were a group of six with a dog (including two teenagers!) The 2 wings have their own bathrooms which is fantastic and there's a downstairs toilet as well! The bedrooms (especially the super king felt so luxurious). The pool table was a big hit with both kids and adults. We had a BBQ one night and the outside space is great with a huge picnic table. We had an issue with the back door one evening and contacted the owner. Within hours this had been resolved and the owner was so friendly and helpful. We would absolutely recommend this cottage and although there's not much in the village where it's situated (apart from a great pub), it is a great base for visiting beautiful South Wales!
