  • "Amazing stay."

In the photos the cottage seemed smaller but in reality it is very large and spacious. Wonderful arrangement of rooms. Large bathrooms and bedrooms. Very comfortable beds. The living room was huge and the pool table was a great addition. Village is very quiet and peaceful. Great location. A wonderful place to relax.

The welcome pack had dog chews for instance and the humans had fizz! A downstairs stone floor meant dogs and people could come in the house and get sorted after a walk without worrying about getting the carpets dirty. The beds were very comfortable. There was all sorts of stuff in the kitchen. Plenty of room to put two cars off road. Garden enclosed and nicely laid out. The pool table was a real surprise and fun! The whole place just felt very welcoming and friendly.

Comfy beds and pillows. Easy to follow directions. Only one slight issue, bulb in downstairs toilet was not working I asked twice but didn’t want to be a nuisance. Stairs are difficult for two members of the party so we had to use a torch.

  • "We found the property to be in excellent order and cleanliness."

Very happy with all rooms and found it very spacious. We were a little surprised not to find a welcome folder/information on the property and local area but I'm assuming this is to reduce carbon footprint and most people using their phones to get info? The visitor books had some good suggestions of places to visit so we used this as a guide. A few suggestions that would be helpful; more mugs/cups - as we were having to wash up frequently or put the dishwasher on half empty, a rotary washing line, and perhaps a couple of garden chairs. The owners were at the end of the phone when the hot water went out so that was quickly resolved - thank you! Other than that it was lovely, and the locals were very friendly and helpful!

Hi Liz, Thank you for you positive feedback and kind comments about Dalton Cottage. With regards to a welcome folder, all the information you have suggested is within the welcome email we sent prior to your stay, we believe this is better than a paper copy as they can get tired and tatty and guests can always access this via their mobile phone. We reviewed the mugs/glasses and found 8 of each and as we sleep 7 people we believe this is enough. We have the large garden picnic bench and have found that in the past people when going away for a week have a fold away chair for the beach etc,. Again many thanks for your review. Kind Regards Rob & Kath Property Owner

It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated. We had had a horrendous journey down so the tea tray ready was especially welcome. The children and my son-in-law were very excited about the pool table and battle commenced as soon as we got there. There were plenty of walks nearby for the dog and we loved the sunny garden to relax in. We shall certainly be back as there were so many things we would like to do in the area and we all remarked at how friendly everyone was.

The only thing we recommend is to maybe provide more information on the appliances (washer, dryer, oven, TV) and some local information (pubs, local attractions, local walking trails) for overseas travellers like us. We can highly recommend this cottage.

  • "Really great cottage, lovely decor, set up etc."

Only drawback is the pub was closed. For our group of visiting Autralians, one of the criteria ( a big one) was to be within walking distance of a pub...the listing needs to be updated. We aren't local so didn't realize it was closed so ended up taking taxis to go out for our 3 meals. Otherwise it would of gotten 5 stars and a better rating on the accuracy of the listing.

Hi Sam, Apologies for the incorrect listing, due to a recent bereavement of the pub owner, the family decided to close the business temporarily , we are unsure of how long this will be and hope it’s reopened soon whilst giving the time and respect to them. In the mean time We will update our listing with Sykes. Sorry for the inconvenience. We hope you enjoyed Three Rivers and your stay at Dalton Cottage. We appreciate your feedback and hope this didn’t impact on your stay so as not to stay again in the future. Best wishes and many thanks Rob & Kath Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely, best equipped one I’ve stayed at so far."

Very clean, ideally situated for exploring that part of the coast line. I always avoid any cottages that are on a farm as I know their day starts early. This cottage is located opposite a barn full of cows and calves that are balling all through the night, consequently, I didn’t get a single decent nights sleep. While I realise it’s probably seasonal it would only be fair to advise people that it can be noisy through the night.

Thanks for you feedback Sian, It is opposite to a working farm and that is part of the attraction to many people. Thanks again for your feedback. Best Wishes Rob & Kath Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage with a huge amount of space, which was great for our large family."

The bean bags and pool table were an instant hit with our eldest two girls and the beds were super comfy. A nice quiet place to return too after days out to the beach and other attractions. Lots to do and see within an hour's drive. The washer/dryer was tricky to use, it didn’t seem to dry our clothes so could maybe do with some instructions on how to best use it. Other than this everything else was suitable for our stay. Even had the pleasure of a dark night sky as the moon wasn’t out and you could make out the Milky Way. Stupidly I didn’t get the camera out as was exhausted from the day's activities. The local Kings Arms was a great place to eat but don’t expect to just turn up. Pre-booking is highly recommended as we spent one evening scouring the local area for somewhere to eat. Which was problematic for a family of 7.

Hi David, Thank you for your fantastic feedback about Dalton Cottage, we are pleased that you enjoyed you stay. We will look at leaving instruction for the washer / dryer for future guests and thank you for notifying us of this. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. • "Lovely property, comfortable beds and great having a pool table for entertainment."

Would have been good to have a book detailing rubbish collections etc and kitchen is missing some obvious things such as a sieve, potato masher, steamer and no casserole size pot for stews / Bolognese etc.. But we worked round this. This was our first holiday since May 2021 and we had been looking forward to it for a while so we were very disappointed to find that the property was right across the road from a dairy farm (which wasn’t mentioned in the description). This meant that we couldn’t have bedroom windows open at night (which was needed as very warm) as milk tankers were turning up at 5.30am with their engines running and the farmer was constantly shovelling cow manure and banging the tractor shovel on the ground, dog barking etc.. Not the relaxing environment we hoped for. My elderly father had been very unwell and really needed the rest but didn’t get it. They were also spreading so the air was thick with the smell of slurry so a BBQ wasn’t enjoyable (we live in the countryside so used to smells but this was almost like we were eating it) and with that came lots of flies so we couldn’t leave windows / back door open as the house was then full of flies. We did find it odd that there were several plug in air fresheners when we arrived and now we realise why.. It’s a lovely property but we wouldn’t have stayed had we known the situation, so people need to know what to expect.

Thank you for your feedback, as owners we would like to continually improve what the cottage can offer our guests to enjoy their stay. In reference to your points we would like to address them separately. * Regarding the rufuse collection within the welcome email that was sent prior to your visit we outlined all collection days. * As owners we try to equip the cottage with the essentials that are outlined to us by Sykes, we believe the cottage has adequate kitchen equipment however if such things are required above this we would expect guests to bring these to accommodate any special needs they may have. * The Cottage is in a rural location and one of it unique selling points is that its opposite a working farm which many of our guests appreciate as it gives them a feeling of country living. * As the cottage is in a rural location we as owners cannot control any third party sounds or smells, this we believe is detailed in the terms and conditions when booking. * Air fresheners are our personal choice as we believe they add a homely feel to the cottage and not to mask any rural smells. We hope that all future guests will look at current feedback received and will look forward to having a beautiful stay at Dalton Cottage. Property Owner

It was really nice and had everything and more you could need. However the dairy farm is very noisy, especially from 3am when the cows are very noisy and the milk truck arrives to collect the milk. Also the jack russell on the farm would come over and bark at us and our dogs every time we went in and out the property.
