We arrived late on Friday and were kindly greeted by the owners, we also we treated to a very generous welcome basket with fresh eggs that had been laid by ‘Pottery Hens’. Pottery Cottage has all one could want and is one of the most well appointed places we’ve stayed, with every appliance you could hope for and a few you didn’t know you needed. It’s a great location, right next to Folly Farm Zoo and a super quick drive into Kilgetty for supplies and very easy to get into Tenby and the local beaches and harbours. My girls (11 & 13) said they wanted to live in a place like Pottery Cottage when they grew up, which says it all I think. We will definitely return.

The Cottage is equipped with everything you could think of. Clean, comfortable & it was a joy to arrive not only to see Christmas Tree lights on and the Cottage lovely & warm but the lovely touch of a Christmas Hamper. I can't rate this Cottage highly enough & it has to be up there as one of the best we have stayed in of coming to Pembrokeshire in last 20 plus years. The Cottage is close by to Kilgetty which has large Co-Op, Post Office, Laundry Facilities and Butchers, F&C Shop, etc etc Re Beaches Tenby only 15 mins away so spent few days there & lovely to participate in the Boxing Day Swim, go to Tenby Swimming pool on a rainy morning and walk our dog on the beautiful Beaches. We must recommend the Fuschia Cafe, great place to go for food &/or a Coffee/ Hidden away 15 Upper Frog Street you will not be disappointed. We went also to Amroth Beach for nice walks and The Smugglers also nice place for coffee. Seeing the Alpacas in field behind the Cottage was lovely and nice to have an array of good TV stations included on Smart TV. Netflix was already up & running no password required! Also Alexia for use of lighting, heating, radio, music etc. So all in all top marks and fair play to Shirley & David for making our stay a relaxing comfortable one over Christmas Period.

Tenby is lovely immaculate beaches and full off lovely bars and restaurants and steeped in history. The property owners are lovely and we enjoyed a chat about things to do and places to go. Only thing I'd reccomend is maybe a mirror on the other side of the road as it's a little blind from one direction. 100% would love to come back and Pembrokeshire is a must.

There is a wide view across countryside from the living room and garden, with animals grazing just over the fence (rare-breed sheep while we were there). I'm normally someone who misses home when away but this cottage was better than my house. The cottage was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The latter were a lifesaver when changing our baby in the middle of the night and navigating the stairs to the toilet (I actually went home and bought some). The owner was so welcoming and she even showed me around the other cottage and told me where she had bought the lovely floors and doors, as we're renovating. Very welcoming to families. Dave and Shirley have worked hard to create a very comfortable holiday cottage. Inside the cottage the layout works really well. The kitchen has everything in it that you could possibly need, ir think you need. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and much appreciated upon arrival. The lounge are is well laid out, the furniture comfortable and attractive and there is plenty of space. Access to Netflix was included for snuggling up and watching a film after a long day's exploring. Separate dining area was used to enjoy our food but also each other's company without the distraction of the tv. Beautiful bathroom.. spacious. Great shower and my husband enjoyed a long soak in the bath. Plenty of hot water! As there was just the two of us we used the double bed on the mezzanine. The bed was very comfortable... there was no 'getting used' to it; as soon as your head hit the pillow it was off to sleep... that may have had something to do with the fresh air! Lighting... not something I have commented on in a cottage review before... whether it is the Alexa controlled under cupboard lighting in the kitchen or the movement sensitive lights on the stairs (much appreciated for any middle of the night toilet visits) or the mood controlled lamps in the living area... everything has been thought of and serves a function that you may not have known you needed or wanted. Outside the cottage is both a seating area and a dining area in an enclosed space just for the cottage. Again, a well thought out area. The night time lighting enhanced the space further. There is ample parking outside the cottage and in the grounds. There is such a lot to see and do in Pembrokeshire, we will definitely make a return visit... Pottery Cottage was an excellent base for this trip and we will be staying again.

There are dozens of little extras that really made our holiday such as the refreshment tray and everything you could need for picnics. There’s loads of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans which is good when you can use it all and then pop the dishwasher on. The large fridge/freezer and ample cupboard space was filled by our supermarket delivery but we were able to top up at the local, well stocked Co-op. The beds are super comfy & the shower is great after a day out at the beach. Opening the french doors on to the enclosed garden was lovely in the evenings where we sat and watched the Folly Farm animals in the surrounding fields. Despite the global pandemic Pottery Cottage felt like a little bit of calm and normality for a week. It’s in a rural location but less than 10 mins by car to the nearest beach.
