  • "This was our second stay and it was just as impressive as we remembered."

The cottage was warm and welcoming and the wine and other goodies on the table were a very pleasant surprise. The kitchen and shower room have been described by some previous guests as tired, however these are very well equiped and just add to the rustic charm. Even storm Ciaran didn't dampen our enjoyment, we watched the rain sweeping towards us across the hills from the picture windows but with the wood burner roaring away, we felt very warm and cosy. The owners have also gone to a lot of trouble to supply a wealth of information on everything from local walks and maps to attractions, places to eat and details of 100+ beaches! We can't wait to make a third visit.

Dear Christine, thanks so much for your lovely review, and we’re very glad to hear that even storm Ciaran didn’t spoil your enjoyment. The cottage means so much to us as a family and it means a lot to us that our visitors enjoy it too. Best wishes, Anna Property Owner

Our family of 4 spent a week here and it was so pleasant. Thanks a lor for the beauty of the garden ! Thanks a lot for the comfort of the house ! We really appreciated all the equipments and we easily used the stove. I wrote a lot in the seat in front of the window, watching the beautiful red japonese maple. View on the Preseli Hills was different every day with wonderful autumn colors. We walked in the area and visited most of incredible places from here : Dyffryn Fernant Garden, the standing stones of Pentre Ifan (Burial Chamber), town and beaches of Newport, St Davids Cathedrale and Bishop's Palace, Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, the colorful town of Tenby, Porthgain and Castell Henllys. We found so much recommandations about what to visit in the house, thanks a lot for that ! Plas Y Bangor is a perfect place for Nature's lovers. We met squirrels, robins, wrens, blue and great tits. This first time in Wales for all of us was so pleasant. We hope we could come here again. Please, don't change anything !

  • "Fantastic place, beautiful garden, shame we had really miserable weather all week!"

Best was day we left to come home, typical.Log burner was the best one iv'e ever used, so easy to light. The drive to the house was really broken up just outside the property and being quite steep was a struggle to get my mobility vehicle to get traction as large heavy mobility scooter in the back and front wheel drive only, would not deter me from going again. A really lovely and very peaceful property. George & barbara.

Dear George and Barbara, thankyou very much for your positive review. I much appreciate your taking the trouble to post it. I’m so glad that you enjoyed the cottage and the garden. I’m sorry that the driveway caused you problems, it is certainly rather rough. We will be putting some work in on it this coming year. With all best wishes, Anna. Property Owner

Sitting outside, all you could hear was the breeze in the trees, the birdsong and the insects buzzing through the lavender. We would have loved to permanently move in, it was wonderful, homely and in the prettiest of locations. I would recommend PlasYBangor to anyone wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It was so lovely that it even inspired me to start writing again.

Dear Michael, many thanks for your lovely review, and for your warm recommendation of Plas y Bangor. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that it even inspired you to write again. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The garden has multiple seating areas depending on if you would like shade or sun. Loved watching the butterfly's on the beautiful flowers. Lots of games to play. There is plenty of information on walks to do. We absolutely loved our stay.

  • "The property setting and location is ideal."

Although the photos are an accurate guide to a point, the reality sadly is not. The kitchen and bathrooms are very tired, I understand the rustic aim but in truth they are lacking and shabby. The downstairs bathroom is no better than a camp site facility, no power-shower and no hand towel supplied, the odour others speak of was noticeable but not a problem for us. I have no issue with a small TV as per other views or the potholes, its a rural property. Sadly this is the second property in a row that has been disappointing, so going to have to think twice about readily re booking with Sykes. Please do not take this as a spiteful review truly its not but my feedback was asked for and its truthful I welcome any dialogue to discuss

Dear Chris, having had many consistently positive reviews so far this year, both on Sykes and in the visitors book, we were, of course, sorry to hear that the cottage failed to meet expectations. We fully agree that the downstairs bathroom is basic and functional, we do not currently have any plans to upgrade it, but there should certainly have been a hand towel provided and this has been flagged up to the change over lady. We work hard to keep on top of ongoing maintenance and to make the cottage comfortable and welcoming, it is very important to us that our visitors have an enjoyable and relaxing time there. We welcome and take seriously all comments and feedback and thank you for yours. I am glad that you enjoyed the beautiful and unique setting of Plas y Bangor. All best wishes, Anna. Property Owner

  • "Just returned from a wonderful week at plasybangor."

I had the misfortune to come in via the Ford.... its not for the faint hearted!!! Then down the track to the cottage, again not for the faint hearted but oh my goodness it was very much worth it!! What an amazing place, the location is just stunning and the only thing you can hear is bird song and distant cows/sheep, wonderful. The cottage it's self was very cozy and had everything you could ever need. Beds were comfy and although the TV is tiny it has a great pic. Becareful of the rug in the living room, it's very slippery being on a wooden floor, I slipped so we took it up, personally I don't think it should be down. The downstairs bathroom does need updating but it does the job and again just my personal opinion. It's prone to having a very bad drain smell. All in all and if ur looking for complete isolation it's a fantastic place to stay. Would deff stay here again

Dear Sarah, many thanks for your warm and helpful review. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay here. Although, I agree, rather nerve wracking the ford is certainly the most picturesque way to arrive here and the route that I always choose unless there has been heavy rainfall. Re the track down, I am working with a neighbour tomorrow to fill some of the potholes, so hopefully it will be less of a bumpy ride down. We do have regular comments about the tiny TV. The main problem is that there is nowhere to stand/hang a large TV that won't dominate the room. Also the cottage has been blissfully TV free since 1965, until we started doing holiday lets a few years ago, so the truth of the matter is that it was introduced with some reluctance. I can't apologise enough for the smell of drains in the downstairs bathroom. That is an intermittent problem that hopefully we have cured. also, apologies for the slippery rug which has now been secured with a gripping underfelt. I very much hope that you will make a return visit here some day. With warmest best wishes, Anna Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from the most fantastically relaxing holiday at Plasybangor."

The cottage was clean and will presented and very well equipped and although nothing like our Hampshire home it was easy to feel settled and "at home". The only sound we heard all week was bird song. Location was ideal for both walking the Preseli hills and the coast. At the beginning of the week I thought "the TV is a little small" - the reality was we didn't use it once..... Such was the peace of the location added to by the fabulous weather. I was a little concerned that Internet speeds would be typically Welsh (slow) but a speedtest showed in excess of 36 mbps so plenty fast enough to stream movies etc if you wished (to a tablet or laptop). The entrance track was better than I expected (after reading of bumps and potholes in other reviews) and despite my car being long and low (Jaguar XF estate) I had no issues whatsoever. Overall, a fantastic, peaceful and homely holiday cottage that I have no hesitation in recommending to all and one that we will return to.

Dear Alan, many thanks for your very nice review, and for taking the trouble to post one. I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Plas y Bangor. I am putting in work with our neighbour this week to improve potholes but am pleased that your car managed the track without issues although being long and low. The TV is undeniably tiny, it is difficult to know where we would position a bigger one as so much wall space is taken up with windows, and we didn't want it to dominate. I very much hope you will make a return trip here one day, with warmest best wishes, Anna Property Owner

  • "The cottage was wonderful."

It has everything you need, I even cooked a full sunday roast in the kitchen and had everything I needed. The setting is blissfully quiet. The beds are really comfy and the upstairs bedroom with the balcony is a wonderful room to wake up in. There are walks from the door to the Iron Age Fort at Castell Henllys and Pentre Ifan. There is a lovely short circular walk into the village of Brynberian and back down a sunken lane. The views from the property over the Presilli Hills are amazing and if you walk the ridge you can see the cottage from the top. There is WiFi but TV is very small and we had no phone reception on Vodafone in the house. However, it's patchy everywhere across the area due to the hills and the mast locations, so that was sort of expected. We enjoyed the ability to leave all the normal distractions behind and enjoy each other's company in an Old Skool way! The cottage feels like a home not a holiday let. The star gazing once its dark is spectacular. An ideal location to get back to nature and appreciate just how wonderful this part of Wales is. The house is close to main link roads to Cardigan, Newport and Fishguard and all the beautiful beaches in the area. There are plenty of Pubs for great meals a short drive away. An excellent value for money holiday.

Dear Janice, many thanks for you very nice, and detailed, review. I am so glad you enjoyed your week at Plas y Bangor. The starry skies on a clear night are one of my favourite features of the cottage. All best wishes, Anna Property Owner

We had a fantastic time, couldn’t fault the property and was perfect for us with our family, the only issue we had was the road down to the property (when you come off the Main road) there were lots of pot holes and parts it was very uneven, very good apart from that

00 for 5 nights the standard of accommodation needs to be upgraded Sykes should do an inspection as they put their name to these rentals as this is not worth that amount of money for the poor standard , please give me your feedback

  • "The property has not been well maintained - the patio was overgrown, lawns had not been mowed and bushes on driveway scratched our car every time we went in/out."

There is a resident mouse in the property and the open drain in the downstairs bathroom was a source of numerous slugs. The property smelled damp and a damp patch was visible on one wall. The cleaning was not done to an acceptable standard (dirty door handles, sticky/ dusty kitchen shelves and broken plastic toy under sofa and edge of rug) - this was a particular concern given the current coronavirus situation, and we know the previous occupants had only just left (we chose the remote location to bring elderly/ poorly relatives who have been sheltering.

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful location."

Well equipped and beautiful views from the main bedroom and sitting room. Surrounding fields and woods added to the excitement with plenty of areas to explore. I could quite happily live there year round! Wildlife was amazing from red kites and herons, to foxes, bats, dragonflies and moths. Close to Cardigan (about 10 miles), a great farm shop/petrol station only a couple of miles away and some beautiful beaches, Pembroke Castle less than an hour away, an Iron Age village a few ministers drive (with an amazing coffee shop for lunch) and some great walks on the Preselli hills. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful when we contacted them. We didn’t spend much time indoors, cooking outside most nights on the fire pit the owner has created adjacent to the cottage. Very friendly neighbours (and their puppies!).

For those feeling active, explore miles of the famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path, where you will be delighted by the spectacular scenery, whilst the Preseli Mountains enjoys a rugged countryside setting.
